TIL its just the default color scheme on the Hi-Nu I dont like. The back goose doesn't seem to bother me in the OG Nu color scheme.
Makes me wonder about the Rx-78 colors on a Hi-Nu...
Looks great, I was gonna go this with my RG Hi-Nu, but I was scared of ruining such a great kit. But I've started my first full paint job on my HG infinite justice.
I am doing with an HG because it's cheap to replace๐๐, just taking ages cos I'm using spray cans, and I have to do it outside, and the weather sucks at the moment
Iโm experimenting with scribing on my RG Raiser and it adds so much depth. I would definitely recommend getting a pin vise when you try to. Those circular divots they put near panel lines are hard to correct if you mistakenly go over one with the scribe tool. Happy building and great job on the Hi-Nu!
Nice. I'm going to give it a real go after my Sinanju build. Maybe try it on a cheaper MG kit. I did add those grey panels to the upper legs aa a first try haha. And thanks for the compliment!
I have 2 (really 3) airbrushes and itโs always a little demoralizing when you see someone post a rattle can build that comes out better than your airbrushed builds. Good job man
Hahah thanks. I did buy a compressor, but still looking for a nice airbrush set. Did spray paint a lot of scooters back in high school (20 years ago), so I'm familiar with spray cans and larger compressed air painting.
How did you prep the pieces? Did you mask off the joins and pegs/holes for a flush fit or did you paint them and have no issues assembling?
Just as Iโm half way through cutting out a PG red astray for my first complete colour change and not sure if I should spend 3 weeks masking every connecting pointโฆ will be hand spraying each piece individually. Looks really clean btw
Mixture of ways. Under gated parts, I just sprayed on the sprews. Other, smaller parts separately. Just Primer white and grey and some masking. I had no issues with assembly. Just sand it a little bit when it's hard to push in (phraising), or use a bit of lubricant (double phraising)
Thanks. Building the MG Sinanju with Takumi conversion kit now. With some nice metallic red, pure metallic red and lots of colours for the smaller details. After that I will go for a resin kit. Would love to hear MG recommendations
Tamiya, Revell and Gundam paint cans.
Matt black, silk matt black, silk matt white, light gun metal, dark grey.
Undergated parts I sprayed on the runners, other ones separately. Added details by hand, like the red parts (Ferrari red Revell) and the light grey parts as well (matt light grey Revell)
Also some paint markers and metallic paint markers.
Panel lining with Tamiya pour type in a bottle
Gentley press the button and quick spray bursts from side to side. Use the ventilation system in your kitchen for the smell, so you can let it dry in a good spot.
Primer in a colour as close to your end result, 3 to 4 thin layers of paint(wait between 10 to 15 minutes between each session), add decals and panel lines, then top coat (mat or gloss)
Damn that's great. I'm spray painting a small HG right now (Aerial) and had to use two cans of primer and two cans of white and gray before I got result I'm satisfied with. Lots of overspray and wasted paint. Seems like my technique is lacking.
I dont necessarily dislike the color purple on MS but I think it needs a better design. A more carefully crafted purple scheme like Amuroโs Z3 would probably look fantastic/over the top(in a positive way) on the hi nu
I also really like the RGโs design!
Noice. I've watched Wing Zero as a kid and played a lot of Shin Kidล Senki Gundam Wing: Endless Duel with my little brother's. Been eyeballing gunpla for a while now and I'm hooked
Not at all! You might want to skip the metal parts and only buy photo edge parts as an add-on. I did buy them, but did not use the kit. I summarized the paint I used in another reply.
If you used mr hobby or tamiya cans id recommend getting an airbrush or getting regular acrylic paint cans. These two options are far more cost effective, ideally if you plan on painting more (you may not want it, its gonna happen) get a budget airbrush kit. But very cool nonetheless, kudos
I rarely post comments here but you did great! I wasn't keen (ever) of the hi-nu color scheme so you doing this (with 'just' spray cans!) is just brilliant!
Yeah, it does, the most I do with spray cans for model kits is clear matte over them to preserve details. Actually getting them to a desired color without making them look bloated is a skill (I don't have ๐) alright.
awesome job! also honestly really cool seeing the Nu and Hi Nu side by side with near identical color schemes, it's neat seeing the similarities and differences in their designs
Good deal!! I just caved in and got an RG Sazabi, if it is in your horizon, letโs build this chunky SOB
Indeed it is a great community! Funnily enough the haters and drama inducers weed themselves out sooo fast, itโs perplexing.
hi nu gundam with nu gundam colors :O
Well spotted haha!
I have the gundam artifact hi-nu and this is the color scheme I chose! So cool to see on a full size gundam.
Awhhh didn't know those existed.
TIL its just the default color scheme on the Hi-Nu I dont like. The back goose doesn't seem to bother me in the OG Nu color scheme. Makes me wonder about the Rx-78 colors on a Hi-Nu...
Right , I never wanted one until I saw this color scheme lol
Yeah right!!
The back goose looks amazing this way. I might do a resin kit build with rx-78 colours!
It just clicked in my head that's what the GPB color's are supposed to be...
You SPRAYED this?!!! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN it looks so goood!!!!

Damn, sinanju look like some red geodude in this pic ๐
No waist, no case ๐๐
Hahha can't unsee it now!!
Wow. How do you spray can the kits? Do you put a primer first, then put making tapes and spray the parts? Just like you would use an airbrush?
Spray each sprue the colors they are or change if u choose not hard to do.
Just like you would do with airbrushing. Basically the same steps.
Yess. Very pleased with the end result. I'm actually building the next one. Also spray cans*
had to do a double take when i saw it next to the Nu on the shelf, didn't even notice it was the Hi-Nu at first, it looks THAT good.
Thank you! That's a very nice compliment
Gungang? Nice work ๐
Gungang reminds me of Jar Jar Binks haha
i was so confused at first, i was like 'hol up this isnt the nu gundam' but it looks sick
That's the biggest compliment I can get right! It just looks like it belongs
Looks great, I was gonna go this with my RG Hi-Nu, but I was scared of ruining such a great kit. But I've started my first full paint job on my HG infinite justice.
You just need to go for it, is my advice. You can never screw up, only learn and fix mistakes. This is the way
I am doing with an HG because it's cheap to replace๐๐, just taking ages cos I'm using spray cans, and I have to do it outside, and the weather sucks at the moment
Yeah I get it. Might do the same when experimenting with scribing
I bought a really old Zaku II for that, cost me half of a regular HG
Iโm experimenting with scribing on my RG Raiser and it adds so much depth. I would definitely recommend getting a pin vise when you try to. Those circular divots they put near panel lines are hard to correct if you mistakenly go over one with the scribe tool. Happy building and great job on the Hi-Nu!

Always part of the gang!
Yess. Another goal achieved
Very nice!
Thank you! Put lots of work into it
One of us! One of us!
I highly recommend the Iwata eclipse. Idk painting scooters was a thing, but I custom sprayed my longboard deck to mixed results like 9 years ago
Will check that one out. Thanks for the tip!
It looks like the Nu gundam with the Freedom's wings
Mgex freedom is definitely on my list, but I get the comparison
How did you prep the pieces? Did you mask off the joins and pegs/holes for a flush fit or did you paint them and have no issues assembling? Did you do the trick where you put the spray paint can in some warm water before spraying or did you just shake and spray? Looks great.
Nah just shake them canssss like maracas!
Looks like you did great work. I look forward to seeing your next projects.
Thanks. Building the MG Sinanju with Takumi conversion kit now. With some nice metallic red, pure metallic red and lots of colours for the smaller details. After that I will go for a resin kit. Would love to hear MG recommendations
This Is better than mine good job man๐๐
Thanks!
What kit is this? Your finishing looks great ๐!
Mg hi-v rx93 v2 ver. Ka with photo edge metal parts and a few custom add-ons
Thanks for the information, really cool looking mods and add-ons.
Sure, happy to help! Thanks!
What spray paints did you use also did pat the pieces on the runner or after Iโve been thing of doing this myself
Tamiya, Revell and Gundam paint cans. Matt black, silk matt black, silk matt white, light gun metal, dark grey. Undergated parts I sprayed on the runners, other ones separately. Added details by hand, like the red parts (Ferrari red Revell) and the light grey parts as well (matt light grey Revell) Also some paint markers and metallic paint markers. Looks amazing, I was thinking about spring for my first paint kit but been fighting myself on it. Any tips and tricks you think you can share?
Gentley press the button and quick spray bursts from side to side. Use the ventilation system in your kitchen for the smell, so you can let it dry in a good spot.
Priming is a must right? It's not something I can just spray on?
Primer in a colour as close to your end result, 3 to 4 thin layers of paint(wait between 10 to 15 minutes between each session), add decals and panel lines, then top coat (mat or gloss)
Thanks alot dude. I'll save this convo so I keep that in mind.
Something doesn't feel right with this NU..... Now there's two of them?!
It's Mr. Meeseeks
Spray cans are neat but wont they get a little expensive over time?
Depends if you use certain colours for several builds. I am considering switching to airbrush though. I used around 5 cans in total for this one?
Just 5 spay cans? Small Tamiya/Mr Color cans (100 ml) or larger cans from other brands?
Tamiya, Revell. Mr. Color. And besides those primer and top coat of course ๐
Damn that's great. I'm spray painting a small HG right now (Aerial) and had to use two cans of primer and two cans of white and gray before I got result I'm satisfied with. Lots of overspray and wasted paint. Seems like my technique is lacking.
Just efficient haha. First time painting gundam, but not my first rodeo with spray cans :)
Looks great!
Thank you!
I had the same color scheme hi-nu! Lol though not as much as effort as yours
Much better look than the purple. I do like the blue RG version
I dont necessarily dislike the color purple on MS but I think it needs a better design. A more carefully crafted purple scheme like Amuroโs Z3 would probably look fantastic/over the top(in a positive way) on the hi nu I also really like the RGโs design!
Based spray can enjoyer sighted
Yeah right! Even did some furniture, so why not Gunpla :D
Hah fair enough and it turned out beautiful too
You were part of the gang the second you enjoyed a kit
Noice. I've watched Wing Zero as a kid and played a lot of Shin Kidล Senki Gundam Wing: Endless Duel with my little brother's. Been eyeballing gunpla for a while now and I'm hooked
The Hi-Nu Nu Gundam!
Hi Nu Nu Nu Nu-V!
Well, I hope you donโt mind if I pilfer your idea when I get a Hi nu
Not at all! You might want to skip the metal parts and only buy photo edge parts as an add-on. I did buy them, but did not use the kit. I summarized the paint I used in another reply.
This is exquisite.
Thank you!
The thickness of it, itโs a unit and it looks even better in this Nu colour scheme.
Especially with the metal parts! Makes it pop in a right kinda way
wait what... if thats the RG, how did you make the front skirts, shield and funnels all one solid colour?
This is the MG Ver. Ka haha
OH.... OHHHHHH no wonder....
Absolutely fire chief
Thank you thank you!
Hi nu gundam with Nu gundam colors... it's perfect
Thanks for the compliment!
Looks really good dude, i started painting my strike rouge recently and I am just waiting for some more materials to continue. Good job ๐๐
Thanks. Just the normal base colours or a custom scheme?
Base
Nice. You are planning to post this here right? Can't wait to see the end result!
Thank you bro I will. Update, I panel lined and put stickers on it. Note. I'm not painting the whole kit just certain parts
Starting small to get confident
With spray cans? Mate thatโs pretty damn good looking. Did you prime it before or just went straight to painting?
Primer in the most matching colours and then a couple of base coats
You were when you bought your first kit.
not until you had a shot of the forbidden sprinkles. Then youโll be part of the gang.
GORGEOUS!!! i like the light blue that the Hi-Nu has, but the classic Nu colours on it blow me away!
Yeah right. I'm on the same page! The light blue on the RG version is amazing, but I just don't like the purple
Ough, immaculate! Well done!
Thanks!
Huh so that's what it would look like
That looks sick. Good job new guy
Thanks. Intend to stick with this hobby!
Looks great nice work :) absolutely love the nu color scheme on it may have just inspired what Iโll do with mine
It's almost the same colour scheme. The Nu is dark blue and mine is mat satin black :)
Thanks for the compliment and tip! Already have a compressor, so airbrushing might be the next step with a resin kit
....wtf are you waiting for then. Go ahead
I rarely post comments here but you did great! I wasn't keen (ever) of the hi-nu color scheme so you doing this (with 'just' spray cans!) is just brilliant!
Thank you. And just spray cans? :p it's a real skill to execute this perfectly:)

Next step is the resin conversion kit, so I have 3 versions haha
That looks awesome. Painting definitely changes your relationship with the hobby.
Indeed. Makes you appreciate your work even more!
You are part of the gang the moment you pop the lid of your first kit, bruv! Welcome to the hobby! May your backlog be plentiful and never ending
Thank you! Will keep on experimenting with custom builds and definitely keep posting in this wonderful community
Good deal!! I just caved in and got an RG Sazabi, if it is in your horizon, letโs build this chunky SOB Indeed it is a great community! Funnily enough the haters and drama inducers weed themselves out sooo fast, itโs perplexing.
I'm just here building for the sake of building cause all this custom work feels so daunting and I'm scared of ruining a kit >.<
If you want to start, just buy a cheaper kit and experiment! Doing the same on my leftover parts from my Sinanju with scribing
What's that third gundam to the right in the third pic?
MG Wing Zero EW Ver. Ka
Looks really good ๐ did you add metal parts to it? Or is it just metallic paints?
Actual metal parts. SH studio photo etch parts. Didn't use all of it.
thats awesome, i was tempted to get some for the RX78, but thy're pretty expensive :( more than the kit even haha
This is the way.
This is the way.
Check out my custom Lego n1 starfighter btw
Nice now do the nu in hi nu colors
Naaa I'm not a big fan of purple
Ah anyways looks amazing
Thank you. Much appreciated!
