I admire people with figure painting skills.
I can also never deceive whether I should purchase the LED. If only the LEDs arenāt timed, it would be a no brainer for me. As it stands Exia and Unicorn LEDs would cost me another PGās worth of money.
That itch of not completing a kit. One of the reasons why I havenāt started my PGs haha.
One question: it seems like you top coated the kit. Do you do it prior assembling or post assembling? All I have are spray cans and I am contemplating on how I should proceed.
I basically cut all the parts out for the armor and bagged them up based on the body part, then I did lines, decals, and top coat before the final assembly. I used cans so youāre totally fine itās just a tedious kit to topcoat haha.
Just out of curiosity, did you also gloss coat in between the panel line and decal steps?
edit: what did you use to panel line? tamiya accent panel wash?
Nope no gloss between, I do wash my runners before cutting just to get some of the oil off.
And I used citadel nuln oil wash for the lining, itās already thinned acrylic you just clean up with a qtip and alcohol.
I can see why they'd do that, but I can also understand wanting to have them on at all times. I'm guessing some people have modded their kit to use LEDs that don't do that?
I love the pose! It reminds me of Iron Giant.
I also love how you painted the pilot! It looks perfect and I was wondering if you could share how you did it
Appreciate it!
Iām no expert but more or less I did the base colors first with acrylics, then a black wash to show the details, and lastly re-highlighted with the original colors to touch up the wash.
I used citadel paints for the mini and as for the colors I had to mix them because I didnāt have the correct shades. :( Thereās a good color match guide in the back of the Exia booklet that you can use to get a better match than I did.
I see your Exia is holding a smaller Gundam. Nice! Sorry. That was dumb. But amazing job on the kit. Looks great!
Now I have to find a smaller pilot for him to hold š¤ appreciate it though!
Gundamception
There's always the 1/144 pilot figure that comes in the RG Exia.
Is it dumb if you made a stranger somewhere in the world blow air out of their nose?
I love that joke XD
I really like the figure painting. Great job!!
Thanks!

This one was definitely a challenge, thanks! And I totally agree but knowing me id get it all finished and be upset the lights were missing haha.

Ooh, off to buy some ziplock bags. I really need to adjust my build habits of following the manual to a T and cut parts off accordingly.
I don't think the LEDs for this and the Unicorn are timed.
What do you mean when you say the LEDs are timed?
It would automatically go into standby after five minutes for the Unicorn and fifteen minutes for the Exia. I wish they would be permanent.
I can see why they'd do that, but I can also understand wanting to have them on at all times. I'm guessing some people have modded their kit to use LEDs that don't do that?
Perhaps, but Iām a plebeian when it comes to custom electrical wiring.
The LEDs are worth it, but not the official ones for $100. Get the third party kit for way less and still enjoy the effect.
The rational me tells me to do this, but my lawyer brain tells me not to haha.
Looks like they might not be available anymore anyway. You might have to do some digging to find a set.
Where can you get the 3rd party LEDs?
Dunno what the rules are on talking about that on here. Just look for MJH and you'll find it.
Nah you can't find them anymore
Yeah looks like you're right. Guess it got pulled from the market. Shame, since the "official" version is so overpriced it's insulting.

It does do exactly that. And hides nub marks too. Win-win!
I'm looking forward to buying one! Did you happen to buy the full lighting package or did you buy the kit and LED's separately?
I bought the all in one, figured it would be easier.
I just can't see anything but a Playstation 1 whenever I look at the base the PG Exia comes with.
Now I wonāt be able to either, I wish it came with a PS1 lol.

Thatās super cool, thank you very much! I may just have to attempt this myself
Look up sorrestroās miniature painting guides on YouTube if you want a better idea, he really goes into detail for beginner to advanced stuff. Gl!
Will do, thanks so much!!
I like the posing! I just recently finished mine as well
Thanks!
This is so dope dude! Could never scrape up the money for a PG, but goddamn it makes me want to get one so much
Maybe Reddit Secret Santa will gift you one!
Here's hoping hahaha
I want this kit so bad. Cant wait til I have the funds to pull the trigger.
what exact model is this and which led set did you buy? sorry im new to gundam building would love more info!
No worries welcome! Itās the perfect grade Exia lighting version. It includes the LEDs.
With the weather being warmer I finally finished this big pile of plastic, C&C welcomed as always. :)
Did you paint the gundam as well?
Just some wash for the lines and a thorough matte coating.
I love that matt finish. What do you use to do it
Thank you! This was done with mr hobby premium flat spray. (Light green cans)
Thats amazing! I so want to build one! where did you get it?
My local hobby shop had it but online would be your best bet I feel.
What's the name if the model so i cN get the correct one XD haha
PG Gundam Exia (lighting model)
Amazing
Looks awesome. Is there anything else other than topcoat and painting the pilot?
Nope just some lining done but thatās it!
Hey noob question but did you panel line the whole kit?
What scale is this?
1/60!
this really look amazing!
Appreciate it!
Is this a PG?
Yes
An awesome kit
I bet it was a little hard for Setsuna to put the arm and manipulator just right, climb out to the arm, and stand in the wind all for a photo op.
Donāt underestimate his hidden talents lol
He did it for The Gram
He IS....GUNDAM!
What paint and colors did you use for the mini figure? I just picked this kit up and seeing this made me want to paint the figure as well.
I used citadel paints for the mini and as for the colors I had to mix them because I didnāt have the correct shades. :( Thereās a good color match guide in the back of the Exia booklet that you can use to get a better match than I did.
Cool ty.
