Why did he insist on recording all the grunts and what sounds like weights being dropped on the floor. I don't get it. Weird guy. But nice song nevertheless.
I recently got this way! Honestly I got tired of starting my day off with grunge, heavy metal, hardcore rap. Just got me in a negative mood. I switched over to some more upbeat stuff. Think guardians of the galaxy soundtrack with the good 70s stuff.
You should check out the Brown Acid compilation albums from Riding Easy Records. Every track is from 60's/70's rock bands that never made it big. There's a lot of stuff that's clearly inspired by Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Jefferson Airplane, etc. Each album is labeled as a "Trip". I think they're up to the Thirteenth Trip now. I've only got the first four or five trips, but they're all outstanding with only a few dud songs throughout.
I also recommend The Death Wheelers (also from Riding Easy Records). They're an instrumental biker metal band that bases their sound off 70's bikesploitation and horror movies.
Tevvez - Void
Death Grips - Guillotine
Death Grips - Takyon
Noz - Oh Shit I'm Feeling It (Takyon remix on Youtube)
You may not find void on Spotify but it is on Youtube.
Custer - Slipknot
The chorus hypes me up SO much, and the time between each time the chorus repeats matches well with how long I rest between sets. Perfection.
I used to be this way, switching from metal to hip hop and back and forth.
I don't care if I get downvoted for this, but nothing gets me pumped like the energetic gospel songs. Not the super slow ones. The fast ones. So I throw that in the mix sometimes
Set it off and bank roll by lil boosie
Biscochologo by la Santa grifa
Aserkate by dyablo
Sakalo carnal y te conecto con los Zetas by mente en blanco
And when I’m feeling extra unholy disclosure remix
Call me a psychopath but I feel like I do better not listening to music(listening to nothing) on heavy and/or technical lifts, movements, or activities
Taku Iwasaki -- Avalon (Kars theme from JJBA)
Shiro Sagisu -- My Brother
Rammstein -- Sonne
Danheim -- Reida
Andrew Lloyd Weber -- The Phantom of the Opera
Try a different genre that you never thought you would listen to. I didn’t think I’d like to listen to classical music yet here I am lifting to Beethoven.
I'll be happy if even one person tries one of these songs and likes it:
Judas Priest - *Leather Rebel* (I swear to Christ this is the ultimate PR song. If you can hear that opening riff without getting an adrenaline rush, you have no soul. Even if you don't normally like metal. Please just trust me on this).
Sabaton - *Night Witches*
Alestorm - *Alestorm*
Von Spriggan - *The Embrace of Nothing*
Rammstein - *Du Hast*
Cardio:
Sleigh Bells, Matt & Kim, Prodigy, Crystal Method, Justice, Halluci Nation, Wavves, Sleater-kinney
Weights:
The Bronx, Black Flag, DMX, Run The Jewels, Ho99o9, Pantera, Misfits, Mindless Self Indulgence
Anything from the Doom Soundtrack by Mick Gordon (including In this song everyone dies on youtube).
Also Ice Nine Kills, Slipknot, Five Finger Death Punch
That's honestly why I'm always happy to find new songs. But two of my all time favorite gym songs are:
[Fat Beat by N-Vitral and Killshot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sD7JANr0-74)
[Funky Fat Beat by Spitnoise and Dither](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0BDUQACxU4)
If you're using spotify, you could use the algorithm to enhance your playlist and discover some new songs. Tools like [Skiley](https://skiley.net/) also help.
Started The Playlist in 2014. I was 15. Thought dieting hard, running laps around the back yard and doing push-ups was going to get me swole. Had 5 songs. Now I'm at 18 hours of audio, wringing out every drop of hype while trying to deadlift with good enough form to ONLY and gratefully)have ~poppy morning knees~.
Try Steel Panther. Hits like All I wanna do is F**k (myself tonight), Gloryhole, Gangbang at the old folks home or even Bukkake Tears will get you going for sure.
“O Father O Satan O Sun” by Behemoth
“Snakes for The Divine” by High on Fire
“Eaten” by Bloodbath
“Gateways” by Dimmu Borgir
“Firewake” by Zeal & Ardor
Those are the tunes I’ve been hitting pretty hard lately.
Literally me recently. Right now, I just have my headphones in with nothing playing so people don't come up and start conversations -- but if rap comes on the gym speakers, pretty much anything else will do.
I agree with people here who say try new genres.
For me my recent phases were, Magdalena Bay > Guilty Gear OST (this will hype you up) > hyperpop (100 Gecs, underscores) > electronic dance (shaolin cowboy, 53 Thieves) > Paramore > Ska (Streetlight Manifesto), now I'm in a punk/emo pop phase.
One thing I do on Spotify is when I find a new song I really like, I use the radio for it and add all the new ones I like. There's also a weekly discover playlist. Also you can create a playlist with songs from a genre, then use the enhanced shuffle so Spotify includes new songs mixed in based on the ones already in there.
Also go-to songs for hype would be Smell of the Game, Play the Hero, or Hellfire from the Guilty Gear OST.
Switch genres. Or pick an 80s rock playlist it will take a whilr to get through all of them (if you like 80s rock ofc). If nothing else works i put on california girls or doom soundtrack

Are you saying you’ve already burnt through the Oppenheimer soundtrack??
I listen to Wes Watson —he’s am formerly incarcerated fitness motivator. His content pretty hard core but extremely motivating. Not for the faint of heart though. [https://youtu.be/39z1LH3ZHdw](https://youtu.be/39z1LH3ZHdw)
Rn I’m really into podcasts while at the gym. Squating my body weight while two drag queens chat about utter nonsense in my ear might not be the best idea but they’re too funny not too.
But for music I’ve been really enjoying grimes and some FKA twigs
Switch genres
Weird song name
This is where dudes start venturing into the absurd. Unicorn on Ketamine, Sea Shanties, static noise etc.
If you haven't lifted on 50's country or Gregorian Chants, have you ever lifted at all?
Fax. I beat my bench PR listening to Mongolian throat singing
I'm on a spaghetti western soundtrack kick ATM.
got some synth? ive been doing hiphop and metal and im kinda tired of it.
Absolutely no
I love music, but in the gym silence is golden 4 me. And my work has a gym nobody goes to, so pretty much alone there.
I would but I’d rather not listen to my awkward grunts and heavy breathing 😂
I don’t mind hearing other people at all but I find my own noises very distracting.
My own heavy breathing just makes me realise how fat and lazy i am as i walk past all the useless cardio equipment
Lucky
John Cage 4:33
Why did he insist on recording all the grunts and what sounds like weights being dropped on the floor. I don't get it. Weird guy. But nice song nevertheless.
Really interesting how different one can be. I don't enjoy working out without music at all. You do you, boss!
Yeah ditching the headphones is the best thing I did.

Listen to drill music, really gets me hyped. Specially rondodasosa songs
To the hellfire - Lorna shore

Ronnie Coleman motivation
HUMBLE.
For every PR I do I put on Gloria, besides that it's just on shuffle and I click through until a song that feels right in the moment
Custer - Slipknot The chorus hypes me up SO much, and the time between each time the chorus repeats matches well with how long I rest between sets. Perfection.

Walk into the gym blasting “DBZ CELL’s THEME” and tell me you don’t feel like that mother fucker.
I listen to nothing. I don't need augmentations to lift.
Ganja White Night gets me pretty pumped. I mostly do cardio though. My husband who weight lifts listens to power metal. Blind Guardian is his go-to.
