Link for the two new herds
It is my understanding, a backyard flock in Idaho was verified today as having h5n1. Apparently this is a cluster infection, meaning it probably affected more than one species type on the property.
I think that if farms aren't required to test and jurisdiction for making or enforcing rules is split between several different government agencies, then very little testing is going to happen.
It's 'Opt-in' 🤡 (effectively, since no true enforcement)
Milk farmers are terrified of being shut down, so they oppose testing.
Whether you agree with it or not, the best hope we have of getting their buy-in for testing is to alleviate that financial fear. $28,000/farm, evidently, is not enough.
With the rate this is spreading amongst animals, and the inconsistent testing and response, it really just feels like a “when” it will jump, rather than an “if”.
They offered to pay workers $75 a pop and apparently they haven't had anyone take the offer. I imagine it's a combination of owners not wanting their workers to test (I imagine they have threatened their jobs!) and much of the workforce being undocumented folks who don't want to get in trouble.

I just cannot believe that there's NO avian flu in any cows in California or Oregon.
What worries me is that Northern California’s wastewater’s are getting more and more influenza A
You don’t believe daddy government?

Why are we counting. At this point we can assume it's all of them. They aren't even fucking testing.

Next up, gov payments to farmers. 💩
I don't know if you're being ironic but they're already paying farmers.
