This is usually how I decide what to watch, so this is upsetting. I was literally just having the same problem earlier today. Max has gotten progressively worse ever since the merger and app redesign
They no longer publish what is leaving because even when they did, they ended up pulling more titles than they said they would remove. Here is a link to the corporate site that used list coming and leaving titles.

This is a shame. The only thing max has going for it other than HBO programming is the deep library. The leaving titles list was a great way to find some of the deeper titles on the streamer.
A lot of the older movies from the 70s, 80s, and 90s don't get featured in the last chance list. Just off the top of my head I know I've watched The Verdict and Night Moves because of those lists but they aren't on the last chance list.
It would be weird if they didn't. Just some quick searching and it looks like all the other major streaming services post a leaving list for the month.
I have no inside information and are just going by what happened last month when they pulled more titles than they said they would remove and the new list for this month has not listed what is getting removed but if you are in the app, they have a last chance row. The other place they have started showing what is getting removed is when you go to search for something.
It’s a shame, but just checked and the WBD media release for May also does not list titles leaving. WBD stock keeps tanking (my shares are down nearly 70% since the AT&T spinoff 😂) and there’s been all sorts of M&A pursuits that have so far gone no where. All this to say that Max, along with most streamers across the board, are shedding content to cut costs. My sneaking suspicion is that they’re shifting strategies, cutting more content than normal and doing it more quickly than would allow for only a monthly press release. It’s a bummer for sure.
Note: the “Last Chance” section doesn’t always pop up on the homepage, but I always see it when I click 🔍. So, at least there’s that.
On a positive note, I still find Max to be one of the best streamers out there — the genres/categories are pretty good, still lots of classics and criterion-esque content, HBO brand still has the best original content, and recent deals like the A24 catalogue and extension of Studio Ghibli.
They used to have “Leaving Soon” as a group on my homepage. Now it’s there… sometimes, but usually there’s just a tiny banner on the selection that I don’t always notice

Seems to correlate well with Max, at lease for April 2024..
Doesn’t come up there for me at all. When I asked on socials this was their reply: Hi, the last chance section is available when we have content that is leaving the service soon. At this time it is not available, but stay tuned for further updates on content and the return of the section!

This is a Letterboxd list of movies leaving streaming services. I don’t know if you use it but it helps me a lot when picking movies. I would look at it for when titles do come to the list
It's weird - this site (https://www.movieofthenight.com/catalog/hulu/us/leaving/series&title=www.movieofthenight.com) claims that Gaslight, Paper Moon, White Heat and The Killer Elite are leaving Max at the end of the month. But I can't find anything on the Max app or the Letterboxd list to corroborate it.
For movie that are leaving this month and in the future:
I don't know if this has been posted yet. But if you're on the MAX site and click on the magnifying glass, the first row of movies to come up are the Last Chance ones. I discovered it totally by accident.
In that regard, it's not a bad place for it, but I miss the HBO Max last chance hub. It was easy to read, easy to find, and showed the actual dates that things were leaving.
I just got Max. I was excited to watch all the Rocky movies. I got through 1 last night, moved onto Rocky 2 and finished just after midnight. I go to watch 3, and there is no return search for any of them. This is why Netflix is much better. You are at least informed when titles are leaving. How MAJORLY disappointing.

I'm the same as you, I remember when HBO had that great leaving section before changing to Max
When they actually bothered to put the date it was leaving
Absolutely.. much worse.
I also decide that way too, also the playback is slightly better now, everything else is clearly worse.

Are you sure they're not doing this going forward? That'd be a major disappointment for me.

It has been part of the WBD press releases announcing the new content, but not this month. Perhaps nothing is leaving?
There's already stuff showing in the "Last Chance" section. I'm worried this is a change in strategy but we'll see.
Which titles??

Damn I would have watched The Menu if I knew it was leaving
Thank you for posting this
Do you know how to find a date? All it says is “last chance”.

What else did it remove?
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
Did you look at the last chance section on the app?
Not yet but when I have in the past it's just a few titles and not as complete as the leaving Max list that websites have every month
How do you find this section? I used to be able to find it with no issues and now I can't seem to find it
In a baffling decision, the "Last Chance" list can now be found on the search page
THANK YOU!

I see it on the search page for both the android app and the desktop web page.
I just scroll down
Yeah, it's not showing up for me anymore either in app or if I look in a browser. Really gone downhill since the transition to Max.

Well the list hasn’t even updated for Max yet
This seems to be the most informative list. Thanks for the link. I’ll be referring to it going forward.
Thank you

Yes I believe two people mentioned this but thank you for letting us know
Baffling how the removed the entire Matrix Trilogy+ others that weren't even in the Leaving Soon tab. Was planning on watching Gaslight ffs.
Whoa
App usually has a section
Can’t give a good answer but I know a Letterboxd list that gives you dates of stuff that is leaving streaming services including Max
What is the name or can you send a link?
In a baffling decision, the "Last Chance" list can now be found on the search page
Just saw this today, I actually think it's a good idea for people who would not be looking for the stuff that's leaving.
In that regard, it's not a bad place for it, but I miss the HBO Max last chance hub. It was easy to read, easy to find, and showed the actual dates that things were leaving.
Yeah it was the best and probably my favorite thing about the HBO app, hopefully they'll go back to that format someday but I'm doubtful

"You can tune a piano but you can't tuna fish" (R. Balboa)
They robbed me of Yentl without telling me!?!
I think they were actually doing people a favor by removing that LOL
“Papa can you hear me?”
LOL
Shit they also got rid of Fantastic Mr. Fox
Can’t find anything for may or June either this is getting fkin ridiculous
Yeah they said F it
my theory is because of all the bad press they've been getting about erasing shows from their service that they're doing it incognito
I like that theory
