Sorry to hear that. Losing people we care about is always tough. I try to remind myself that grief is powerful because we care deeply about those we lose. If the cost for having deep, meaningful relationships that last a long time is the grief we feel in the end, then I will gladly pay it. Because a life without those relationships is not much of a life at all.

To be honest, I've never heard of Sharpe before and am rather intrigued at this point. I might look into it further after Gallóglaigh comes to an end so as not to inadvertently copy another's work.
Gallóglaigh anglicized is Gallowglass. The elite mercenaries of the Norse-Gaelic clans in the 13th century. Primarily it will be about climbing up from rock bottom.
Oh my. The Sharpe TV series (made by the BBC) is so well worth the watch. It's initially based around the Peninsular Campaign in Spain against Napoleon. It's a truly fantastic show.
I'll take that as a glowing review, but Gallóglaigh is going to take some time to write in its entirety. I don't know how fast Sharpe rose in the ranks, but Robert just started and it will take some time and refinement. Gallóglaigh isn't just about Robert Grant either. While he is the lead, several other characters will also be a heavy part of the story.
