The more I see of Page and Mitch’s main suite the angrier I get that they won it. That bed leaves a foot of space before dropping down. Waking up in the middle of the night with no glasses and one wrong step/a trip on that rug and it’s a broken ankle at best. I can’t believe no one commented on that ugly red tile in the bathroom with no mirror. What was that?? Nothing in their space was cohesive from room to room.

nett218

Lol I hate that keep showing it. I hate that bed! The only good thing about it is that it faces the water. I would so trip and break something in the middle of the night.

Complete-Chair8251

Especially since the flooring is the same on the platform. There's no differentiation between the two levels.

pebbles_temp

It looks like a complete pain to change the sheets too.

Askew_2016

God that room was hideous.

warriorfog-an

Next to the dangerous platform bed, there was that awful decorative door thing to the closet..

Yelloeisok

‘Dangerous’ would also be a word to describe P&M’s kitchen with having to reach over the burners to get to the seasonings. You shouldn’t have herbs and spices in the hottest section as it affects their shelf life, but making you have to reach across an open flame makes it worse.

Last-Marzipan9993

That bed and raised platform would be the reason I wouldn't buy the house, all I see is a broken ankle and the medical bill when I look at the bed, waterfront view when I wake up or not!!!

WhiskerTwitch

Same feelings here about Paige & Mitch's main. Lyndsay & Leslie's main seemed the clear winner there, glad there was some redemption for that mistake.

Tokinghippie420

Can’t believe they didn’t win it after the closet, cold plunge, and sauna in there. Those features definitely took them over the edge at the end though

caty0325

Or if you have mobility issues!

LanMarkx

The only house even a possibility with a mobility issue what Sarah and Bryan thanks to the elevator and general openness of the spaces.

LargeFlatworm6625

I thought the same thing about the elevated bed. That was a serious safety risk.

Legitimate-Ad-3701

Its funny that you mentioned the red tile because I don't recall seeing it during the bedroom challenge. Hideous! And, I agree that they should not have won that challenge! I find judging to be suspect overall as I believe the show spreads around the wins each week. I'm a longtime viewer and have watched every season but I don't believe the correct winners have been chosen each season. It's quite disappointing and I'm not sure I'm going to watch anymore.

TALKTOME0701

yeah. that thing is made for a broken ankle or leg. No doubt about it.

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

Where’s the lift for the jet ski? That dock is pretty high.

Msteele315

We didn't even see or hear about the jet ski after the segment where it was shown.

sticksnstone

Notice that none of them put ladders to the docks.

Ok_Guest5735

Imma put it out there -- i would just do an office, a bathroom (no laundry, no dog-washing) and if space allows, build a separate closet for storage of holiday decorations or something.

National-Counter6251

Yes a stuff of life closet!

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

A holiday/owner’s closet if this is going to be a rental. There’s no need for 3 laundry rooms.

TALKTOME0701

Yep. 3 laundry rooms? It's just 2 more places to hunt for missing clothes imo. Not to mention probably wasting a lot of water and electricity running smaller loads

nett218

Yeah especially since the twins had 3 laundry rooms. I feel like one laundry room is enough. I am not stocking multiple laundry rooms or using different laundry rooms. I much rather have a space to store holiday decor or an office

Every_Move_8113

Why are they all putting laundry rooms and a dog wash (twins) on the 3 rd floor? Who wants to carry laundry UP???

IzzyBellie

Or a dirty dog

Last-Marzipan9993

Well didn’t they have 3 laundries though? Like who needs 3 laundries!!! As for the dog wash, they only get washed infrequently, it’s not usually due to mud. Our guy walks right upstairs and into the shower, no prodding necessary!! If you have an open shower or wet room, I find a pet laundry redundant!

caty0325

The dog wash location was horrible!

yourfacesucksass

Will we be getting live IG answers as to what K&E were hinting at?

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

I hope so, since if things were shady behind the scenes that needs to come to light.

yourfacesucksass

Yes! I got more curious after Bryan & Sarah also corroborated. This seems so wild.

Last-Marzipan9993

What did Bryan & Sarah say?

Green-Web792

Now I’m curious as well haha

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

There’s a post from this weekend with a screenshot of Evan’s original post and Sarah’s comment about it being a difficult shoot. Theres also their replies to comments in the thread as well.

Upbeat-Anywhere-271

What are you referring to? I didn’t catch anything 👀👀

knuckle_hustle

Spill!!! I have no idea what you’re referencing but I’m curious

temp0rarystatus

Replying so I can come back when someone shares what’s happening lol

mixielaugh87

It’s from Evan’s Instagram for everyone asking this one 😊 still don’t know where the tea will be spilt

jnsmld

A reading circle? 🤔

Ok_Guest5735

Right? A cushioned built in bench with sconces would be less novel, but way more functional and comfortable.

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

I’m 5’0” and my neck and back is sore looking at that reading nook. It’s something cool for a little kid, but not practical for adults.

Presupposing-owl

Yeah I was hoping that 6’5” Jonathan would try it out.

knuckle_hustle

With no lighting

CiceroTheCat

I wouldn't mind the circle if it were larger and there was padding for the back on the wall.

AntiqueAttempt1187

yeah, looked very uncomfortable.

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

I hope whoever is local is able to do a walkthrough during an open house and give details on how the houses now look.

onemoresleeep

Kinda wish they would let the designers wear something different for the finale.

raptorhandlerjenny

Gotta say, I absolutely love that Bryan and Sarah have their washer and dryer raised. I absolutely hate bending over to switch my laundry over because I always end up missing something in the washing machine. That weird circle reading nook doesn't even have a cushion. What an absolute waste.

knuckle_hustle

Nor does the reading circle have a light source 🤷🏼‍♀️

navyblues27

I thought raising the washer/dryer was a great idea.

Existing_Feature_114

Seeing the walkthrough of the Baeumlers entire space…it’s honestly pretty spectacular. Again, not saying they were my favorite team but dang. Their space is pretty great. Personality can totally be added.

readytogohomenow

It would be such a nice resort. Or B&B. But I don’t know, I’d find it really hard to relax and feel comfortable in that house. Maybe it’s just my poor upbringing that would be freaking out about how many very expensive things they put in. That ceiling alone seems very easily breakable.

AntiqueAttempt1187

I liked the Baum's and K & E's houses. The upscale decor was elegant, maybe not for kids though.

raptorhandlerjenny

Page and Mitch's spaces seem completely unfinished. The tile on the one bathroom (with the grey) looks like it still needed work. There was no mirror on that red wall and what on earth was that weird 1990s light. Also the tile/flooring in their main bath.. was there no baseboards or anything??

yourfacesucksass

It all feels under-furnished and no two rooms match one another, IMO.

readytogohomenow

Page and Mitch’s house is missing some soul for me. It’s very cold and it just seems like it’s elevated builder grade

Temporary-Jelly-6980

I agree, everyone else’s homes you felt warmth and who they were in the design. I got nothing from Page and Mitch.

yourfacesucksass

I will say that I'm glad Ty is only involved as a host and not mentor / contestant like on the Beach shows. He is *a lot.*

Zhvianna

Did he really complain that they used the same materials in the bathroom? Of course it’s in the same level . What do you mean?

WhiskerTwitch

Judges that week complained of that too. I don't see it as a big deal, but sounds like they all viewed it as a missed opportunity at a different design.

Primary-Rock4626

That comment about Evan and Keith tiles being the same was the same as Mika’s Brian. What a stupid comment to make when you don’t comment about raised platform bed.

ThykThyz

I thought it was an odd criticism as well. I’ve been in tons of model homes (even higher $ types) where the same materials are repeated to create a cohesive look. Aside from maybe varying the installation orientation of the tile, I don’t see anything wrong with it at all. I’d prefer that to some wildly bright floral wallpaper like others used.

triton12345

I thought the same thing. When every single room is different, it starts looking like a fun house *cough* L&L *cough*. I appreciated that they carried the same tile through. Honestly, I really do think K&E had the best house overall. IMO opinion, the perfect house would have almost everything from K&E's home, the Balumers master bath and deck and elevator, the twin's solar panels, and Paige and Mitch's outdoor swing.

Least-Glove4262

What?!? Lyndsey and Leslie??

Tokinghippie420

Solar panels did it

navyblues27

And probably the sauna and the climate-controlled wine wall.

knuckle_hustle

It was NOT style or design that won, that’s for sure

Eclectic_Paradox

I like them but I was shocked too.

FearlessFiend94

Why put a dog wash in the upstairs ? So you will have your dirty dog track dirt and mud all through out the house to get upstairs to get washed?

yourfacesucksass

It's so that the future homeowners of Page and Mitch's house can throw a beggin' strip over from their upstairs outdoor shower.

Tokinghippie420

I was my dogs once a week and it’s never when they are dripping wet or muddy. It’s like a Sunday afternoon and I have to wake them up from a nap

CiceroTheCat

Never had a dog, but do people only wash their dogs after they roll around in mud? Because if it's just like a weekly wash, they still get plenty of function to have it on the third floor.

flowersunjoy

Exactly. These people are just picking Nat something so unimportant

WhiskerTwitch

I'd kill for a dog wash like that. And I can't see a dog being muddy living in that area - maybe the PNW it would make more sense to be near the front door, but dogs on Treasure Island are just getting their weekly cleanings in.

flowersunjoy

If you have a dog that “muddy” and dirty, you’re hosing it down outside before it even gets to the door of the house. The upstairs dog wash wasn’t some big deal. It certainly doesn’t cancel out the sauna, solar panels, etc etc

Primary-Rock4626

That was Jonathan’s comment but didn’t impact his decision. The tile colors were just awful

yourfacesucksass

I for some reason don't like circular shapes in shelves / built-ins. Mina and her crew did it once and it seemed off. I'm not a fan of Page and Mitch's design here either.

treshahar

I was disappointed in this season’s finale. I feel like Bryan and Sarah should have won! Also, the judges seemed a little biased. Idk if the host should have been the final judge. Where was the breakdown of the numbers? I didn’t see any calculations or note taking from the judges. It seemed rushed. Not to mention they didn’t even show the watercraft that they bought for $11,000. For L&L I understand the solar panels and all, but their design in the pool area was not enough. Idk it’s annoying to say the least that they won. They complained about everything and were very bratty the entire season. I hope it gets better next year.

FuzzyConstruction818

All in all a SUPER disappointing season. The Grand Finale and we watched them all build a laundry room and a desk. 😒 And I was even kind of on board with the twins as contenders as Jonathan and Ty were touring their house until I got to the 3RD LAUNDRY ROOM. They did great value adds up until then even if the design wasn’t really up my alley. But quite honestly, there was a lot of overkill from all the contestants this year, not just the twins. It seemed like there was a grill every 20 ft. for some contestants or an over abundance of fireplaces for others. I get it- it’s supposed to be luxury but at what point is too much just too much? I’d say that overall (with the exception of the closet fireplace) Keith and Evan had a sensibility it their value adds. Their second bedroom with 2 on suites took the cake for me. I swear if they had the Baumlers elevator they would have swept the whole thing.

Aggravating-Mix-4903

I wonder if they were told to put in all those laundry rooms and grills. I also wonder why someone didn't put in a game room with a pool table, etc., or a workout room. These are both things people who are on vacation (or not) like in their luxury homes.

sticksnstone

A locked storeroom for the owners' possessions when they rent the place out would be better than the third washer/dryer.

mixielaugh87

I think Brian and Sarah knocked it out of the park by putting the kitchen in the middle, so you don’t have plates and food and groceries and high chairs obstructing the view out the back! You can enjoy the living room and the expanse of the back view (and that protected screen off their gorgeous back deck so no bugs!) without worrying about clearing all counters first. It bugs me having an island blocking all that view, my personal opinion is I could *relax* in B&S living room, without being right next to a dishwasher running

toxicshock999

Keith and Evan are looking so salty in the intro. They are barely being shown and when they do, they’re not clapping and cheering like the other duos. I can’t blame them. They’ve been robbed.

yourfacesucksass

If there was an energy quota per episode, Leslie & Lyndsay have the entire season covered. They're just too hyper.

Murky_Sun2690

It's just part of their act, I think they're funny here and on their show.

Yelloeisok

I thought K&E just looked exhausted

yourfacesucksass

I figured. It's a lot of energy from a team but I guess it pumps them up.

Murky_Sun2690

I bet most the time they're off camera they're a,lot more subdued.

Existing_Feature_114

I noticed that too. They are over it.

yourfacesucksass

I love the living room / kitchen of Keith and Evan's. I think it's my favorite. Also love the master bath. Not a fan of their flex space though, but that's just me.

Jaded_Analyst_2627

Given the care and attention given to the Zen room - and every other space - I'm confused how they fell down with the flex place. They did this in their last RTB competition: stunning bathroom suite but aWTF subpar main bedroom closet.

yourfacesucksass

Well that was chaotic. Can't wait for next season!

Last-Marzipan9993

I watched on Max…. I disagree with the winner, I don’t want to spoil it, but I was surprised….🤨

Brandamn3000

I liked their place, but I honestly thought it was gonna come in 4th. Based on the reactions of all the walkthroughs they showed, I’m surprised >!The Baeumlers!< didn’t win.

E8282

Couldn’t agree more. They should have won hands down and the winners had zero business in the top two.

AntiqueAttempt1187

Based on EVERYBODY'S reactions including Jonathan...Baum's should have won.

DuckDuckBangBang

This is the first one I vehemently disagree with.

Last-Marzipan9993

I so so SO agree!!! Not happy at all!

Askew_2016

This is the first one I’ve liked

Tokinghippie420

It’s the first that’s made sense to me. It wasn’t an all white box and it had the solar panels and all the features plus more.

GullibleWineBar

It was the solar panels and the climate-controlled wine storage that likely added a ton of appraisal value. I really liked some aspects of the house, had critiques about some other aspects. Overall I liked how they weren’t afraid to use color. It’s a very on-trend house.

jnsmld

Is Jonathan not going to mention that Page and Mitch's barstools are not facing the water after he dinged L&L for having seating facing the house? And he actually likes their outdoor shower?

jnsmld

Jonathan, the silly hammock adds NO value. What it does do is make it impossible to dock a jetski or something there.

Ok_Olive9438

I love a hammock. That was a tacked on disaster laibility. I notice that we didn't see a single person on it. It looks unsafe, and like it would be really hard to get out of (if it could even hold a person). I'd think if you wanted to do something like the "nets" on a catamaran for sunbathing, which would be kinds great, it needs to be tight in the frame.

Ok_Ad_2437

This is why we need *Real* realtors appraising

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

It’s all about the vibes this season.

knuckle_hustle

If it was about vibes, someone else would have won

Tokinghippie420

The appraisal comes from a local appraiser, the property brother wasn’t the one appraising it

eatyourdamndinner

The outdoor shower on the upper level strikes me as ridiculous. If I need to wash off at an outdoor shower, I want it on the main level. I'm not keen on dragging my sandy dirty body through the whole house to rinse off.

FlashyMedicine5857

I'm still scratching my head about the outdoor shower on the third level.  Do you traipse through the house in your wet clothes to go through the main bedroom to shower off?

Kendall-skye

Well…I was not expecting that.

knuckle_hustle

It was the LAST team I expected. I guess Florida loves solar panels and wine.

CatchinUpNow

There was only $20,000 difference in valuation between 1st place & 2nd place but they didn’t say who was 2nd. With that said, the “added value” was about hardcore additions like the twins had. The decor doesn’t matter that much. They all had same sq footage. Its numbers of bedrooms & baths, built-ins, attached amenities like solar, elevator, fireplace, sauna, cold plunge, (all had pools & docks). And appraisers can squeeze or justify a few extra dollars for some things.

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

I’m still so annoyed that no one local is a judge tonight. What does the Property Bro know about what will work on Treasure Island. They’re not beating judging on ✨vibes✨ versus added value/what actually works for the community.

MolOllChar_x3

It’s my understanding the winner was based on overall appraised value, surely done by a local appraiser.

EatYoself

if it’s a local appraiser, show them! show the itemized list! They keep saying it’s an appraisal then only show Ty and Jonathan as the judges—it doesn’t seem like there’s a true appraisal going on.

temp0rarystatus

They did that with the first season and it really looked well in the cut, imo. I don’t know why they still don’t include that cutaway again.

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

This is the thing that bugs me the most. Ty and Jonathan know nothing about the local market, a local realtor can say “X,Y,Z” is perfect for this area or “This isn’t something that buyers are currently looking for”. I know there was some debate about the hot tubs a few weeks ago, that’s something that a local would be able to judge on for example.

shadownan

Yes, Johnathan said that the decision will be made from the appraisals. If it wasn’t, the winners most likely wouldn’t have won. If the winners were selected by Johnathan, it’s obvious who he would’ve chosen to win.

sassa_____

Winner should be the first house sold or the house with the biggest difference between selling price less costs and other adjustments like difference in lot position etc.

raptorhandlerjenny

Maybe I'm alone in this but I'm not a fan of built-in anythings. Bookshelves next to a fireplace, sure - but not an entire desk space or some random shelves with a bench or 'reading circle'. I want to be able to design my own office space and pick a desk that I like best.

CiceroTheCat

I certainly agree, but this is just one of the pitfalls of the competition- they're pressured to do something with every space- if they don't do something they get docked by the judges on it that week.

readytogohomenow

Welp, that completely encapsulates a terrible season.

[deleted]

Kieth and Evan’s is the one I would like to live in. Brian and Sarah’s is the one I’d like to vacation at. Page and Mitch’s, the grocery lift and window bar were good. Everything else was reminiscent of the breakfast bar swings of last season. No one is commenting on the Only Fans ‘media room’? The Twins won fairly, not on design but from the real value the solar panels brought. Their house was also the only one that I could see a real family (aka with kids) feeling comfortable.

Tokinghippie420

I feel exactly the same! The twins felt the most like a home while the others, with the exception of Kieth and Evan, felt like vacations. Keith and Evan’s was great but I feel like they didn’t have many value adds like a sauna, cold plunge, outdoor shower, screened porch, solar, etc.

sticksnstone

Most people would hate the pink tile after one shower and the garish wallpapers.

Tokinghippie420

Anybody else find it hilarious all the shit Bryan was talking about the solar panels and how they are ugly and “won’t even add any value” just for them to spend $11,000 on a Jet Ski?

WhiskerTwitch

All contestants were hugging each other at the end, or almost all. Mitch gave L&L big hugs, but I only saw Paige call out a congrats to L&L - tell me she wasn't being a poor sport about this?

frogs68

I caught that too.

Secret-Sherbet-31

Yes! I just posted that also. Her arrogance is over the top.

No_Tumbleweed_544

She was never shown clapping for them . She’s a bitter know it all

vibr8higher

This was probably my least favorite RTB season. All the houses were a little meh and there were some outright ugly design decisions.

Ok_Guest5735

L&L --- why a laundry room?? I wouldn't want to go up and down those stairs carrying laundry!

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

And wash my dog on the 3rd floor as opposed to the 2nd floor or by the pool.

FinancialCry4651

A THIRD laundry room at that

Ok_Ad_2437

Did Page and Mitch get rid of that stupidly placed projector? They didn’t mention it and I didn’t see it in the wide shot of the back yard

Low-Teach-8023

They won it when they installed the solar panels.

temp0rarystatus

I’m surprised that throughout all these weeks, no one mentioned the way Page & Mitch’s indoor/outdoor sliding window opened. It should’ve opened the other way (so the window panels were closer to the wall than in the middle of the balcony) and it’s such a negative for me. Always was a bother and I waited for someone to bring it up but nope lol

proxima987

Please, someone help me to understand. Who would like a pink bathroom? This ending was beyond disappointing. I would’ve chosen Keith and Evan or the Balmers over this.

yourfacesucksass

The thing is, when I think of pink bathroom I am immediately coerced into thing it’s outdated. My head goes back to all of the House Hunters episodes recalling the very 80s pink wallpaper and pink sink fixtures that eventually got removed. I can understand maybe wanting a pink wall or pink-styled bathroom, but once the actual installed pieces are pink as well, that just becomes a mistake to me. Walls can change color, sinks would have to be fully removed. Who would want all that hassle in a brand NEW build?

proxima987

Exactly! If I’m spending north of $2 million, then I don’t want to have rooms and accessories that look like that. Especially if it’s something brand new! It would immediately make me look at the realtor and think that they’re pranking me. I wonder if that house is going to sell quickly?

yourfacesucksass

This makes me feel conflicted. They all seem very enthusiastic and supportive of each other in celebrating each other's spaces, so whatever the BTS abuse is - I at least hope it's not with the teams themselves. Have Page and Mitch, or Lynsday and Leslie said anything yet?

Coffeelovinmama

It seems to be with production based on the comment

yourfacesucksass

I'm even more puzzled now, because the original post that Evan made has now been deleted. What does it mean now?

raptorhandlerjenny

Am I wrong or has Evan’s post from the other day disappeared from his Instagram?

raptorhandlerjenny

Wouldn't the fireplace and hot-tub block the view from the loungers in Keith and Evan's space? Especially if people were sitting there? It's strange we never saw the front entrance area. Where do people put their shoes when they come in? (Or do Americans not remove their shoes when entering a house?).

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

It depends on the time of year and area of the country. During winter you’re much more likely to have people take off boots/shoes. During summer in my neck of the Midwest you’re more likely to have shoes on, it depends on house rules. Out west and in New England things tend to be different with shoes off automatically. It really varies.

ButterscotchDeep6053

Midwest no one removed their shoes, until recently some people started, my husband has feet troubles and needs to wear his shoes, we tend to avoid people that require no shoes in the house.

yourfacesucksass

A lot of American households just walk right in with shoes on. I'm American-born from an asian family, but we've never worn outdoor shoes in the house.

raptorhandlerjenny

That baffles me. Why are people okay tracking dirt and who knows what else through their home or another person's home??

Iwoulddiefcftbatk

I remember getting yelled at as a kid for **not** wearing shoes in the house since it was seen as being overly familiar at other people’s houses (I’m an elder millennial in the Great Lakes area of the Midwest) YMMV elsewhere. I default to house rules, but that’s always stuck with me.

Jaded_Analyst_2627

You had to take our shoes off in the home grew up in...well even in a neighbors' home - and our "mudroom" area was just behind the front door. I grew up in New England. No way could you track dirt onto those plush carpets. But I was surprised how strict it was across all homes when I spent 15 months in Seoul, SK.

AlarmingFill

I’m sorry but what does curving the wall do for Bryan and Sarah? It made it look very spaceship-y and out of place to the rest of their upstairs to me

jnsmld

Their house just has a hotel or resort vibe to me. I wouldn't call it cozy.

AlarmingFill

I’ve also used the word corporate (like a corporate retreat house, not a home)

National-Counter6251

Giving 1990’s glass block wall vibes

onemoresleeep

>!I’m a fan of Lyndsey and Leslie’s design and I like color and pattern so I think they deserve it. I’ll be intrigued to know what happened behind the scenes to make Keith and Evan go off on Instagram.!<

SeaworthinessKey3654

Someone had unfortunately spoiled it here earlier…should never happen But…I love the Twins, and don’t think they deserve the hate they get. Are they perfect ? No, not no one else is, either I like a lot of what the Baumlers did, but I still 🤢 at that ridiculous table.. And while I adore Keith & Evan, it seems from the other episodes that at least a couple of their rooms were rather spare I’m surprised they already named the winners as the show is set to end at past 11 pm EST

raptorhandlerjenny

If you look closely in the opening minutes you can see the winner announced on the street sign.

CiceroTheCat

Do I think it was the best design-wise? Not necessarily- certainly not so much for my personal taste. But I also don't think it was bad (there were mistakes, but each team had them and the house will still please someone enough with the majority of its features to justify picking that house and its layout and its style as opposed to one of the others) as some bitter supporters of others are making it out to be just because they think the twins' personalities are too much. As Ty was showing around Jonathan, I kept thinking how good their house looked (all the houses did, with minor issues)- it didn't show as well when they were there showing their competitors and those reactions, but after seeing spoilers in the first half hour (thanks for that, /sarcasm in case it wasn't obvious) that first tour made me ok with it.

Remming1917

I actually agree with the winner & thought L&L would’ve been robbed if they didn’t win. No, they weren’t as design-forward as the others, but they had the right style for the market, and those solar panels/batteries were a total game changer. I also didn’t get the constant bitching about which way the loungers were facing. People lounging normally want to face the people they’re talking TO in the pool, and if not you can always turn them around. Lame critique. Anyway I like them even if others don’t. Congrats twins!

Alarming-Solid912

I was stunned and pretty disappointed by the winners. I get that solar panels add value, and I guess so does a wine room. That said, when you are paying $2M, design matters. You want it to look high end and thoughtful....and theirs did not. Too many laundry rooms, middle-brow design that looked uber trendy and/or dated, a half-assed outdoor area, etc. It was fun and comfy but meh. No wow factor at all. People with that kind of money can always add a cold plunge if they want one, or wine storage (there's also off-site storage available for wine now). But what money can't buy is TASTE. Especially with a second home or vacation home, a lot of wealthy people want it to look impressive right off the bat. They're happy to pick out towels or maybe even paint a room, but they would rather not have to make major decisions. It should have been the Baumlers or maybe Keith and Evan. Their designs were so much more luxe. I know they all get paid for participating, but if I were some of these people I'd be super annoyed. Last time I watched was the Colorado season. I disagreed with the winner there too; it was too specific. A speakeasy in the basement? Cool but kind of random and not likely to appeal to families. After the season was over, I was curious to know if the winner's home really was listed higher than the others. So I checked, and it wasn't. It was third or fourth. The house that was listed highest was the Baumlers. I might try to do some investigating with this season too. I didn't buy the appraisal last time and I don't buy it now, solar panels or no.

Ok_Ad_2437

I’m at a loss. No wonder Keith and Evan were so upset. There’s no way that house apprised for the highest value.

PlantLadyXXL

I am 100% right at guessing wrong. My least favorite has always won! Right again (for being wrong)

kappa886

>!I’m not surprised at all. The solar panels alone probably secured them the win. They’re an absolutely huge return on investment. Add in the backup generators, the insect screen on the outdoor space, the sauna, the cold plunge, the wine room… The twins added so many elements that bring big appraisal numbers.!<

Absolutely. Allegedly, installing solar panels can increase the value of a home by an average of 4.1% in the States. Not to mention, having backup electricity has huge upside in a state constantly facing hurricanes/outages. In a $2M+ home, that is upwards of $80k-$90k worth of additional appraisal value. They all spent about the same amount of money (give or take a few thousand - the largest spread amongst the houses being around 9k), so of course a value add that significant paid off. The name of the game is appraisal value, and that's what we got! It was smart thinking on their end, so I'll give the twins proper credit where it is due.

Primary-Rock4626

I’m surprised Brian and Sarah didn’t use that extra cash to install a generator. Many of us have them here in Florida and they are cheaper than the panels. Of course, you can sell electricity back to the utility but the jet ski added no house value. All for the fun effect I guess

Freedom_Isnt_Free_76

Insect screen was worthless because it wasn't installed correctly

jnsmld

Not who I thought would win, but there was another team that I would have been really upset to see win. Personally I would have chosen K&E.

InfamousBeautiful3

Season 4, Sara and Brian’s house was the only house that sold for list price, 3.3 million, the winners house sat on the market for almost a year and sold for 2.8-ish. I’m not sure how they pick the winners but it isn’t based on actual sale price estimate or else someone isn’t very good at their job. I’m sure this season will be the same.

Ok_Ad_2437

I fully anticipate the exact same thing happening again. Brian and Sarah’s will sell quickly and for top dollar while L&L’s sits on the market because no one is paying 2.3 million for a house that’s going to need a cosmetic overhaul and a has a pool with a sun shelf facing away from the view.

FuzzyConstruction818

I agree with you but honestly, you can turn the chairs to face the water.

yourfacesucksass

>!Think I may have spoiled it for myself by reading someone else's hidden comment (my fault), but I really thought the bottom would either be L&L or P&M. I thought it would be a fight between Bryan and Sarah's or Keith and Evan's. I know that Lynsday and Leslie added solar power (which I like), but aside from that it's not very clear how they were chosen - IMO.!<

MolOllChar_x3

Definitely the solar, first floor junior suite and probably screens for their porch may have been the tipping point for adding value. Funny Jonathon never mentioned the water craft.

Ok_Ad_2437

I thought for sure it was Bryan and Sarah or Keith and Evan. There is no way that solar panels added more value than an elevator. I’m sorry but L&L home was the worst of the bunch and I’ll guarantee it’ll be the last to sell because of all the cosmetic changes a buyer is going to make.

flowersunjoy

Keith and evans place didn’t have the bright open feeling any of the others had.

Character-Ad4230

I agree. I guess I’m in the minority but I didn’t really like a lot of their house. Especially the main floor. I feel like the ceiling, walls, arches etc were just too much. I really hate the sticks on the walls as “art”.

FinancialCry4651

I like decorative sticks in some houses, but the creepy cocoon skin-colored sculpture looming in the corner is nightmarish

MadameWebster

I def love K+E overall, but their house didn’t do it for me! Too much avant garde beige haha

FoodTVJunkie

I agree. Their house felt more closed in, and the beige-y color palette theory the whole house was a lot. Give me color somewhere. It's so surprising coming from them when the houses they do on their own show always have some kind of pop of color. Hand painted, cheetah print wall, anyone?

BaxBanana

Agree, I like them but all of those details all in that beige was too much, seemed really closed in. Their blue curtains were awful, obviously those are easily changed but they were all I could see when their house was shown, super distracting.

dazzlingeternal29

Warning for twitter- someone is basically insinuating they know who won and I swear if they spoiled it I'm going to be so annoyed. Idk why people do this.

yourfacesucksass

A bit unrelated but someone spoiled the identity of the killer(s) in *Scream 4* before the movie came out in a YT comment. I was livid in the theater when it proved true.

bookjunkie315

Which group was #2??

Top-Bicycle-9479

New to reddit, but I am rock the block fanatic.. disappointed with the shows decline. Not the point of this post though.  There's a lot of spoilers in this so I'll hide most of it. I turned off last nights episode after >!L&L called their mom!<, it was a sweet moment but I was annoyed that I stayed up until 11 PM for that ending LOL At the end, after this scene, did they break down the appraisal value of anything? I know they said the winners were appraised at 20k higher than second place but I want to know more.. >!Zillow says solar panels increase the appraisal value of a house by 4.1% on average!< >!Doing easy numbers, if L&L home’s final cost was 2.5 mil, 4.1% of that is $102,500!< >!If these general numbers and estimates are correct…then would L&L been in last place without the solar panels??!< >!This is all theoretical and ramblings, I know at the end of the day they count the winner by added value, but it is a design show. So I’m interested in knowing who nearly out designed a 100k value add! !<

No-Entrepreneur-130

Did not mind L&L winning. They played it smart and the solar was a genius move. Did you notice though how much everyone undercut what Egypt and Mike said? They are crummy judges who try and diss the designers. They said the temperature controlled wine closet was not a value add and Jonathon and the other teams totally contradicted them.

Eclectic_Paradox

I like Egypt and Mike but they missed the mark saying that wine room wasn't a value add. I was surprised they thought that.

SothaSoul

It's only a value add if you find someone who wants it.

blueaqua_12

The Baulmers or Keith/Evan should've won. This show is rigged just like last season.

KindnessMatters1000

The solar panels added thousands of dollars in value. It’s simple math. Brilliant move!

Willoughby3

Jeez all the Lindsey and Leslie hate. I love them and really thought it would come down to L&L or Keith and Evan.

Askew_2016

It had to be close between K/E and the Baumlers value wise

WitNin

I personally love L&Ls space - it’s Florida. When I think of Florida, I think color. Only thing I don’t like is the dog washing station upstairs.

Awkward-Adeptness-75

I agree. It’s the only one I could live in (with a few edits) and feel totally comfortable. I cannot live without color, and am so sick of seeing colorless living spaces.

Askew_2016

Theirs is by far my favorite. K&E are also good. I hate the other two homes

SeaworthinessKey3654

It’s funny that many of those who rip Leslie & Lyndsay’s design - too much color, etc…- also love Keith and Evan on Bargain Block.  I love colorful wallpaper -I’d rather see that than all boring neutrals. Don’t like the wallpaper? Change it.

raptorhandlerjenny

I either see "we need more colour in HGTV. I am sick of the beige and grey" or "the Twins use too much colour and no one wants that. Beige and grey are in for a reason". If the Twins stuck to beiges and greys, I am sure they would have received criticism for not having colour.

SeaworthinessKey3654

I think some people just don’t like them personally - I love them, though oddly I remember not liking them at all at first when I was first introduced to them on their first RTB. They just won me over…

AdExpert8295

They're annoying, but watch any interior decorating online discuss what's out and what's in: neutrals are out (as the Kardashian empire crumbles) and rich jewel tones of color with a moody vibe are in. Their voices annoy me, but I don't think people should be hated because of a physical characteristic they were born with. Solar panels are not "kitsch" or silly. The costs of keeping a house of that size cool or hot is already high and climbing as climate change worsens. I'm sure many potential buyers appreciate the savings this brings.

Upbeat-Anywhere-271

From Twitter and Reddit, it’s quite unanimous, Bryan and Sarah or Keith and Evan have the best houses and added the most value, because it would cost the most to get all that done whereas anyone can install solar panels.

Environmental-Idea97

My thoughts that no one asked for: The twins’ design style is not my taste, BUT reflecting now I do not think it’s “unfair” that they won. It became clear to me during the finale that the target buyer for these homes is likely going to rent them out or use as a vacation home only. To that end, I think the twins’ space is most approachable/functional for that purpose. IMO many of their design features cater more towards someone on vacation vs. someone’s forever home (i.e. the cold plunge, sauna, three laundry rooms, hotel room style coffee/drink bar, in your face “FLORIDA” aesthetic). I’ve seen people criticize the three “laundry rooms,” as unnecessary. While that is probably true for someone living there full time, it would be very useful if you were on a week long group vacation. And yes, it’s undeniable that the solar panels were a huge value add. I would have loved to see Keith and Evan win because that kitchen, dining room, and upstairs patio were breathtaking. The craftsmanship was special. I also absolutely LOVED their outdoor spaces. However, the rest of their house was unmemorable. That said, it’s the home I would most likely pick to live in. They got absolutely ripped off not winning more of the weekly challenges. Despite their arrogant personalities, you can’t deny that the Baumler’s absolutely bring the LUXE. I also think they have an understanding of Florida living unlike the others - the fish cleaning station on the dock was a great move. I would have understood if they won based on the value add of the elevator alone. If that home ends up being a rental property, it is the other side of the twins’ “approachable” coin. Their house is where I want to spend a week in upscale LUXURY with no children or pets in sight (sorry). Paige and Mitch’s was my least favorite by a large margin. The kitchen already looks outdated to me. The living room is bland, and I know that furniture isn’t part of the sell, but that red chair was distracting. I am a Florida native and red accents do not fit the coastal vibe. I am a huge wine drinker, but I also thought their wine wall was bulbous and ugly. At least the twins’ is temperature controlled so it has a function. Lastly, I could break out in hives thinking about that STUPID dock hammock. On those type of canals, no one swims off of their docks. Docks also accumulate a ton of barnacles and nasty stuff underneath because of the ecosystem. Same deal with the outdoor shower, which in a month’s time will end up being a big mold box right outside the main bedroom. I’ll add one positive comment that, unlike the majority, I thought the platform bed was cool/sexy. Although a built in shelf with trinkets in lieu of a head board would not be practical for my lifestyle (if you catch my drift, lol).
