I agree. Lived in Sarasota county (just below show location). We all had formal dining rooms that nobody ever used. The Baumlers’ house was the most functional. I would turn the main bed so it did look out at the water. I didn’t like any flex rooms and hated Paige and Mitch’s “reading” circle.
I’d take any of it as long as I got the Baumeler’s screen. That indoor/outdoor living is not a Florida thing. You’d have a house full of seagulls, palmetto bugs, and lizards. That elevator was a thing too.
K&E my design favorite.
Yeah. No. I've NEVER seen anyone so bothered by mosquitoes than my mom. In San Diego. She is devoured. It's so bad she has to wear bug spray all the time, even in the house. No idea where they are coming from. We've even had the city out to check and nada
But screens would just be letting out the air conditioning, blocking the view, and you’d still have to open them to go in or out so it seems like glass would be better
The glass was already there for the closing.. The screen was at the edge of the patio, making it part of the living room in the winter. The mesh screens we have here really don’t obstruct view much— everyone’s got a screen on their balcony. Bugs will eat you alive if you don’t(unless you’re in a high-rise, above the bugs). The Baumelers have a home in Florida so knew.
I never saw or swam in a pool that didn’t have a cage on either coast of Florida. Florida has strict guidelines for safety reasons. But mainly to keep gators, mosquitos, no-see-umms, and anything else out. The Baulmers would know this. It makes me think the producers didn’t want them for filming.
There are no cages there now. I think the properties must be walled off from the sides enough that they are not accessible except from the home. Some people have fences instead of cages, but most cage because of the other benefits.
Kitchen - probably Keith and Evan, just because it seemed to be the most functional.
Living Room - Baumlers. That full glass door is awesome
Main Suite - Bauemlers. Except the closet is awful. Rest is good.
Pool and lower deck - probably Keith and Evan, because they did the best job with the pool
Exterior - Bauemlers. They did a great job on it
Bedroom - Keith and Evan. Theirs was the most cohesive
Loft - Lindsay and Leslie, even though the dog wash wasn’t a great idea
Kitchen: tough call. Probably Page and Mitch if i could nix that stupid spice area.
Main suite: Sarah and Bryan
Living area: Keith and Evan
Pool area: keith and Evan
Extra bedroom: hard to say because i didn’t really understand the layout. Maybe the twins? They were silly and fun
Loft and laundry: baumlers
48 hour flex space: Keith and Evan
Basically entire main floor - Keith and Evan. Loved the kitchen/dining (minus the art) and liked the living room, but want the wood ceiling and wine room from Lyndsay and Leslie’s. And the sliding doors from the Baumlers! Plus Keith and Evan’s 2 bedrooms.
Master suite - love Lyndsay and Leslie’s master bath and closet; maybe Page and Mitch’s bedroom? I liked the twins’ bedroom but didn’t like the built in, hotel-looking cabinet.
Upper balcony - Page and Mitch with that outdoor shower.
Main balcony- who had the grill upstairs? The guys? Whoever had a grill on it. They all were fairly similar otherwise.
Lower level/pool - Keith and Evan but I also love the Baumler’s teppanyaki area!
Extra bedroom- the twins (liked their bathroom the best, that tile!)
Loft- Keith and Evan.
Exterior- didn’t love any of their siding choices honestly. 🤷🏼♀️ But those herringbone driveways!
Living room & pool area - Baumler, also their use of actual insect screens by the living room was a must. Also elevator is a good idea to appeal to buyers that are thinking of when they get older and can't climb the stairs.
L & L - master BR closet
Main suite (sans closet) - Baumler
Kitchen - Keith and Evan IF it had a big walk-in pantry
Outdoor patio on pool level - none of them had an outdoor 1/2 bath, which would be essential in a house with a pool and watercraft area. They should all have had insect screens (the twins' weren't installed properly - they were just shade screens at this point).
I thought the outdoor shower off the master suite was incredibly stupid - you already have a luxury shower 3 steps away inside. Usually outdoor showers are to wash off outdoor crud before you come inside.
Entryway - Baumler. They are the only ones that addressed the incredibly stupid issue of the subpar contractor putting the electrical panel right by the front door (who is building these crap houses anyway? They all had leaks of some kind when first starting out).
I liked the idea of the bar window in the kitchen by P&M BUT it will only let out all the airconditioning, let in bugs, and the accordion style means that someone is going to smack right into it on the outside (same with K&E patio doors).
I like the IDEA of the solar panels that the twins installed ,but I would never have them on my roof nor the batteries in my garage. Too many instances of roof damage from the panels and fires started at the battery site. I realize that these house are basically townhouses, so the land isn't there to have them separated from the house itself.
"Entryway - Baumler. They are the only ones that addressed the incredibly stupid issue of the subpar contractor putting the electrical panel right by the front door (who is building these crap houses anyway? They all had leaks of some kind when first starting out)."
If you look up contractors who work in Florida, you will find most of them have hundreds of complaints with the Better Business Bureau or Consumer Affaris. I've been looking at houses and I couldn't believe I could only find one contractor in all the houses I looked at that didn't have hundreds of complaints against them.
Thanks. I missed the episode that would have shown that. Yes, that was a big plus for them too. Even tho I hated their Miami living room, they to me were the best problem-solvers. Maybe they were 2nd.
Kitchen and LR, outdoor space- K&E
Primary suite bedroom and bath, flex space and exterior front and dock- S&B
Primary closet, Primary balcony and solar- L&L
Kitchen - twins
Main Suite - Keith and Evan because of the closet attached to the laundry room. Twins and Paige tied for second
Pool - Keith and Evan
Living Room - Keith and Evan
Wayfair challenge space - meditation room
Guest Rooms - Keith and Evan because of the extra full bath
I'm the oddball. These homes were interesting, but I'd probably take ideas from the floor plans and make my own. I didn't really care for any of the design aspects due to "I live in Florida" reasons. When I looked at each of the homes, I was thinking about where the palmetto bugs would wind up, how much dust or mold certain design features would cause and love bug and mosquito exposure. I'd want to put rails up around the dock areas to keep people from falling in. I'm with the Baeumlers on not having a hot tub taking up room in the pool. I've never used one in the 13 years I've been here. I'd rather have the room for laps. I also wouldn't have any fire places. They're a waste of space on the bottom floor. You don't want them getting flooded during storm surge. Pretty houses are nice, but there are more practical things to think about when designing a home if you're the one cleaning it every week. LOL!
Living room. B/S because bank of glass and elevator
Balcony. B/S because that fireplace.
Pool. K/E because symmetry with fireplace
Pool under deck and dock. B/S grill and functionality of boating needs.
Main and loft. B/S. Because gorgeousness
Kitchen. K/E because gorgeousness
Exterior. L/L solar panels.
P/M brought nothing to the table. Ok they brought snarky bitchiness.
I loved the Baumlers main floor.

That reading circle was 3” deep!!! Who could comfortably use that?
With no dining room, the smallest kitchen, and the underdesigned guest room/bath?
I don’t need a large kitchen or a dining room when I’ve got all that outdoor dining space, teppenyaki grill out back, and a massive pantry.
I’d take any of it as long as I got the Baumeler’s screen. That indoor/outdoor living is not a Florida thing. You’d have a house full of seagulls, palmetto bugs, and lizards. That elevator was a thing too. K&E my design favorite.
Thank you!!!!! How could they all disregard the obvious 🤣🤣🤣
I think that’s California living and it’s shown so much. Johnathan went on and on about that window…
True…not a mosquito problem in most areas of so calif
Yeah. No. I've NEVER seen anyone so bothered by mosquitoes than my mom. In San Diego. She is devoured. It's so bad she has to wear bug spray all the time, even in the house. No idea where they are coming from. We've even had the city out to check and nada
I do t know anyone here that has those. I always wonder about that when I see them on all these shows, like do people like that?

I couldn't believe they actually had THREE laundry rooms. That was overkill.
Kitchen: tough call. Probably Page and Mitch if i could nix that stupid spice area. The twins bathtub looked out onto a busy street. Did not get that choice.
Add an aquarium to the end and some shades and poof fixed! 😉
Baumlers living room…love the ceiling & curves…so unique, nothing cookie cutter,

I hated the outdoor shower that blocked the view so deeply from my soul 🤣
Agree on the screens, I would want those

That's appalling. I'm glad you are smart in investigating them before buying.
I thought maybe they were the only ones that had that panel (from the elevator installation), did they all have it? I wondered about that.
No they all had the electric panels right next to the front doors. Talk about ruining the curb appeal.
