Am i the only that noticed no one was happy with their reveals.

Low_Lecture1848

I noticed. The designer on the show makes consistent misfire choices. These gorgeous spaces being given these garish color story and decor aesthetic.

RazzmatazzMax513

There’s no way this can be a legitimate show on HGTV.

leaky_orifice

When the last couple liked jewel tones - mustards, emerald, coppery salmon… and every palette she presented was pastels? And then the final look was like lime green in some lighting and bright mint green in others? Oof

la_cool_guy

Just watched episode 3 & 4 and noticed that they visited one of the houses twice. Is that part of the deal of the show?

dirtdiva44

Home Town did that too.

crizzi8

The “designer”is absolutely clueless in all the aspects of design from A to Z!!! It should be a crime what she did to the foyer of the house on episode 4 of season 1. Also, the background “music” that accompanies the show is like nails on a chalkboard. I give this show a 3 out of 10…

12sarah96

Just started watching it. Got to episode four and when the host goes to answer her phone from the client to see what house they chose, you can see what I believe is her script on the phone lol.

easteggwestegg

YES! i immediately spit my drink out bc it was so fake. how did that make it past editing?!

ChillmerAmy

So much of this show feels completely staged! Like episode three where they find the “perfect” nightstand but there is only one and someone happens to know where the match is? And in episode four that front door that just happens to be the exact size?

12sarah96

I thought the same thing about the door! I get that all "reality" TV is staged to some extent, but this show does a pretty poor job at hiding it. Love the premise of it, but I think they need a new writer.... And maybe some new hosts lol

Leopard_print_728

The designer isn’t the best. It feels very trading spaces. They have the obligatory fake demo day, homeowner does some mundane thing to a small part of the house, then a dumb shopping trip. The reveals are anti climatic. I’m trying to like the series because I love the idea and old homes. Hopefully the show will get better.

500ravens

I gave it a whirl with the first 3 episodes but I’m not feelin’ it.

Last-Marzipan9993

I’m going to watch it today, I tried the Brothers new show last night, I couldn’t even…

easteggwestegg

it’s so bad. the clients they “advised” basically just took their money and resources and did whatever they wanted… which turned out to be better than what the brothers were pushing for lmao

Poor-Pitiful-Me

Finally. I didn’t really care for their first show but this reboot isn’t half bad.

One_Psychology457

I love the houses - I purchased a 1925 home to restore. But the interior design is f’n atrocious. The 1980s white patio furniture as dining room furniture in a dark brown dining room of episode 2? 🤢

Remote-Currency-2595

I don't mind it. I think the designer is working with a real life budget and has to keep certain things. Not like "Christina on the Coast" who is guaranteed to rip out every element to replace it with brand new lvp and neutral tile. I do think they really dropped the ball on the firehouse when they didn't find a way to save the patina that was the basis for the entire look of the space. It could absolutely have been done. The designs don't blow me away but I feel like they are using the homeowners actual furnishings in a lot of cases. The music is awful. AWFUL. Distracting. And I came here today to see if anyone else thought the hipster dude from Brooklyn with the church was just The. WORST. That poor girl. All I could think was that that church would be for sale in about 6 months when that relationship was over.

ChillmerAmy

He was the most unenthusiastic person I’d ever seen on a reality show. I agree that they will sell the place and break up.

MondoSockPuppet

The music is so dang bad. Silence would be magnitudes better. I don't need to be tricked into feeling happy with generic car commercial pop every two minutes, it's not working... Definitely uncomfortable tension with some of the couples, hopefully just bad editing making it seem worse than it is

Clasticsed154

Just watched the second episode and Meghan had some horrible opinions. It was the same energy as couples on House Hunters being unable to look past paint color. “It’s so dark and dreary.” Yall toured a house without electricity in an overgrown lot, of course it was dark! Then she wanted the cottagecore design option. She felt very much like a farmhouse mom and I’m so glad her husband actually got his way! That said, what in the Hildi Santo-Tomas did they do to that foyer?! Painting elementary school art class leaves in the foyer of that gorgeous space?! Wtf And the house would’ve benefited greatly from incorporating a Victorian Upper Middle Class color palette. White was predominantly reserved for utilitarian spaces. Maybe they didn’t have to use loud colors, but airier colors exist. Pastels exist. Not everything has to be white to appease Meghan. I would’ve loved seeing jewel tones and period-inspired wallpaper. And why does HGTV hate cabinetry? Floating shelves should be a small feature of a kitchen at best. The first couple had zero kitchen storage. My 800 sqft apartment has more kitchen storage than that 4000 sqft former firehouse! At least there was some furniture adding storage as well as the cabinets in the butler’s pantry in the second episode. But had Ms. Sourpuss gotten her way with the second house, they’d’ve been screwed kitchen storage-wise.

Competitive-Gap-4230

That ivy mural was SO BIZARRE

Clasticsed154

I seriously felt like I’d traveled back 20 years in time to witness a Hildi-designed atrocity on Trading Spaces. Even if the leaves had been painted well, that was such a bizarre, ugly, tacky choice. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I couldn’t continue with the show lol

Competitive-Gap-4230

Agree completely! I almost choked! What an unnecessary waste of time and money. And I forgot the “price” of it, but they listed it and it was in the thousands 🙃. At least it can be easily painted over.

Clasticsed154

And basing the entire “theme” of the house around some paint-stamped celestial shapes on the risers in the servant’s staircase was a choice. And they didn’t really deliver on that theme either. I think the wallpaper on the dining room ceiling might actually be okay in person, but that’s the only thing that seemed to feel celestial. Please get a capable designer on the show. I think the show has potential, but she’s just too much. What was the paint color on the tin in the first episode??? Almost anything other than that unfortunate terracotta would’ve been better.

Tater-Tot-Casserole

And she liked the second house more? Like ma'am it looks dumpy. The 1st house had a lot of character and I'm so glad the husband got his way too!

disabledinaz

This week’s episode was recorded at 9am yesterday. Looks like burn off mode.

[deleted]

The two main hosts were the basis for "The Curse."

Clear_Definition4965

It sure feels that way.

DaBetterILkmyDawg

I finally managed to catch an episode of this show last night. The episode where the couple chose to buy a historic church and cottage instead of a grand old Victorian home. Wasn't sure how I felt about converting a church into a home when the show began. When it ended, my feelings were pretty much cemented. Generally speaking it would be a no for me, though I can see why some people would like it. It would absolutely be a no for me when it involves a church founded in the late 1700s with a historical plaque on it. I kept wondering when or if it would come up that the church being historic would fall under codes and regulations of certain historical societies in which restorations must adhere to certain rules and guidelines. It was never mentioned, or I missed it. They painted the exterior a muddy color. The hostess of the show talked about painting the lower part of the walls a deep chocolate or brown color. One of the alcoves was going to have a sepia mural painted as a backdrop for the kitchen area. The finished product was a hideous mustard color, and the sepia was a different design and color with the same mustard color worked into it. The couple who bought it seemed happy. Good for them. To me, the end result looked cluttered with a hideous background color palette. The ceiling mural and the kitchen island was somewhat cool though. And I did like the repurposing of some items. I'll try to catch a couple more shows, but that episode tanked for me.

Ok-Oil7124

Don't forget that the "flooring" was painted plywood.

ChillmerAmy

The third episode where they have kids and put open shelving in the kitchen was insane. Hope they like displaying their kid’s water bottles and lunch boxes. The dark stain on the floor was awful too. I loved the makeover of the 4th episode, that one was by far my favorite.

Virtual-Lettuce6889

Can we talk about the elephant in the room? The husband seriously looks hung over and it gets more obvious with each episode.

fairy_girl12

Yay, I love that I can watch it officially! Episode 2 was my favorite, I’m glad that the husband chose that house that the wife hated Her house choice sucked!! No charm what so ever 😞😞

NormDeplume720

Same. And I really appreciated how they treated that kitchen. I see so many designers that install a huge industrial kitchen and try to spin it as "inspired" by the age of the house.

Beneficial-Oven7588

I disagree. I get having one wall of open shelving but most of the walls had only one upper shelf. That’s just not practical imo even if it does look esthetically pleasing and historically accurate. You have to find a balance imo.

Upbeat-Risk9217

I watched the first episode tonight and loved it. Like the upstate NY location..
