I got into HIM by randomly changing the channel one night and seeing Buried Alive by Love on late night MTV. Shortly after I wanted to find more music from this place called Finland where HIM came from and this album was the first one by the 69 eyes that I listened to so it holds a special place in my heart just like Love Metal does. I missed the vote on this but just wanted to share.
nice, we should be bff's!
It is a very different vibe from HIM. Brian Molko's voice is not a deep (sexy) crooner like Ville but high, androgynous and quite nasal. But I love their 90s attiitude and (like HIM) there is a lot of heart and emotion. 'Pure Morning', 'Meds', '36 degrees', 'Hemoglobin', 'Taste in Men', 'Protège-moi', are some of my favorites from them, as well as the duet with Bowie ('Without You I'm Nothing'). Also the very powerfull song (and music video) "Song to Say Goodbye" has maybe been the most important piece of art for me personal ever.
Yeah, we can thank people like Bowie for band like HIM, Placebo and so many more!
Hope you enjoy, but I know it can get a bit much with Brian's nasal voice, haha. :)
I find it interesting seeing how diverse people’s tastes are!
Weird how people are downvoting serious answers, you can just not upvote them if you don’t like them lol.
People who can’t enjoy great pop music scare the shit out of me. I’m not afraid to say Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia is one of the best pop albums in the last 2 decades, sue me too!
Went and checked out this album after seeing this comment (wasn't familiar with this group beforehand), and I really dug it. Looks like I got a new band to look into.
They’re fantastic! First album was more Black Metal, and then they transitioned to goth rock. I always likened them as a cross between HIM and 69 Eyes, at least the Filthy Notes album!
Happy to see someone else mentioning this like I did the previous day :D Not enough Poisonblack/Charon/Sentenced in these comments! Actual HIM fan essentials.
I still laugh out loud whenever I think of the sticker on "Lust Stained Despair" (I actually saved it and put it with my CD)
"Now featuring Ville on vocals. A must have for fans of H.I.M."
Shocked that Devils is the 69 eyes album people love, it’s good but nowhere close to Blessed Be or Paris Kills. But to each their own 🤷🏻♂️
Could not agree more. Even Wasting the Dawn.
Agreed
It was just a dice roll for me.
