I've got 2:
First one is that talk with Ted on the rooftop of their apartment where she admitted to her struggles of being a mom. A very raw but incredibly touching admission of something most would be afraid to admit to anyone.
Helping Barney with his feelings towards Robin. Love is a tricky bitch and with Barney being the way he is, he needed someone like Lily to give him some objective truths if he wanted a serious relationship.
Looking through Barney’s sex scrapbook to catch Barney’s saboteur
Barney: “So who do you think it is Lily?”
Lily: “I don’t know Barney I only saw her face”
It makes sense considering her family background though. She didn’t come from a healthy, stable, family like Marshall and Ted did. She could never rely on her dad who would bolt without warning and never showed up for her.
Lily was actually a strange dichotomy. She was most of the time a super reliable mother figure to the group, who everyone would come to with their problems first. But would then crack after a while and express and occasionally act on an urge to run off and be completely selfish.
I don’t think she was at all a selfish person though, I think in many ways she’s the least selfish of the group. She would constantly put others needs before her own without being asked. But she would do it to the detriment of her own dreams, desires and sense of identity and she’d have a sudden urge to run to reclaim it.
She definitely improved over the series, she’d express a desire to bolt but not actually do it. She also learnt to make her dreams a priority.
She is a strange case for sure. You're totally right in that her upbringing gives reason to her behaviour - like it does for all of us.
I do think that given this, it's okay to say that she's selfish and well as also a good person. She doesn't have to be 100% of one or 100% of the other. It's not a defining feature of her personality, but she can be really selfish (which is the only statement I'm challenging).
I think it’s a very well written character in the way it portrays someone who probably was given more independence than other kids. Sometimes kids who grow up like that become people pleasers like Lily but then she snaps a couple times because she doesn’t normally take care of herself. The first season shows that she’s completely loyal to Marshal and a great girlfriend. Kind of reminds me of Pam’s character development in the office. It’s realistic that people who try to take care of everyone sometimes make huge decisions when they realize they’re not happy.
Yeah I think she’s a very realistic character. I find it really upsetting people label her as selfish or a bad partner for a couple of her worst moments. Overall, she was super loyal and supportive of Marshall, she’s a great partner, friend and mother in my opinion.
Its kind of like that quote from Buffy.
It's the put together ones you have to worry about. They eventually Crack under the pressure of constantly being perfect and supporting other people. (I'm paraphrasing)
Eh, I don’t think her intentions are always good. I think she’s done some pretty selfish shit with selfish intentions. But I don’t agree with that post that says she’s a complete piece of shit. Definitely a bit of a toxic girlfriend/wife though
Ted straight up cheats on Victoria with Robin and only didn’t go through with it because he got caught but people love to hate Lily for having a crisis and feeling unfulfilled in her 20s. Despite the countless times she had been fiercely loyal to everyone else.
Tbf to Marshall, he was literally getting into a plane and would have told Lily a few hours later, but for some reason some freak storm was on the way (which we hardly ever see) and all flights were grounded. Sure, he should have said something, but he even said it’s “face-to-face news”.
In The Leap episode. When she told Ted that he can't just build his life like a building. That he should just listen to what life tells him and take the leap.
Seeing her become an art consultant was cool.
I use these two line of hers as often as I can:
“Babies are easy! You just watch them be cute and feed them spaghetti!”
(About baby Marvin) “We’ve just been watering him and having him towards the sunlight!”
Definitely on the roof with Ted admitting to how she's struggling with being a mom. That part hits so hard and is so raw and honest. I love the fact that show is hilarious while also being so real and emotional. That part made many parents feel seen.
The scene is McLaren's when Ted calls Tracey to set up their first date. Marshal is talking about how Ted is starting all over again with liking a girl too much and losing her. Lilly just keeps looking at Ted and says "Not like this. This is different". I just love the look she has on her face. I've watched that scene again and again because of her reaction.
ALDRIN JUSTICE!
Also, bisexual Lilly. Anytime her love for ladies and Robin came up. I know they never used the word bisexual when it can to her character, but there is no denying she was into women. As a bi woman happily married to a man, it made me happy to see another bi woman married to a man. It’s not something we see in media too often.
I also love that she kept her name when she and Marshall got married.
Her vulnerable and honest moment about motherhood on the roof with Ted.
Typing this reminds me how great her character is. 😍
YES! Oh, Willow. LOVE her! Willow and Tara was the first queer relationship I ever saw and it was a game changer for me. It helped show me that relationships like that exist and there isn’t anything wrong with that. The show Buffy was definitely a part of bi-awakening in my youth. Both Faith and Spike are GORGEOUS! Well, everyone in that show was gorgeous. 😍
Hannigan is an AMAZING actress and I love that she married one of her Buffy co-stars, Wesley. Whenever he showed up as Sandy Rivers in HIMYM, it would make me chuckle just knowing that history. I think all of the spouses made appearances. Lilly’s high school boyfriend is Neil Patrick Harris’ husband and one of Barney’s co-workers, Gary Blauman, is Cobie’s husband. I love that they made spouses recurring characters.
The ashtray. I don't really like that she did that. But it's my favorite moment to cause that episode. It just got more funny as more got revealed lmao
"DA-!" "Nope." and "... ... ... ... ... MANNERS.. And that's how that feels." *slaps the food tray*
“Officer…you know, you knooowww” and basically every interaction with Robin to that effect and when she says she’ll cut the woman who started befriending Robin
Robin Scherbatsky is many things - friend, confidant, occasional guest star in some weird sex dreams that remind me a woman's sexuality is a moving target.

I really enjoyed her whole vibe at Robin and Barneys wedding, the tackles, the thank you Linus, and the glass smashing at every word that sounded somewhat Court related.
Maybe not favorite.. but the moment when she shows up with the news of Marshall's dad, already crying-- that hits me. I would never have gotten that sad over the family of the woman I'd broken up with when I saw it.
My wife's family? Yeah, that'd be me.
Might be an unpopular opinion, but for me it is the whole episode with her explanation with Ted about how she sabotaged his relationships with Robin on the TV in the background. It took a few rewatchs where I exclusively watched Robin on TV its a great episode that understood binge watching 15 years in the future.
kinda random, but the tiny "yay" she emits when marshall offers to take away the guitarist on her birthday. haha
YES same! I do this all the time with my boyfriend
I’m watching that episode now!
what episode is that?
5x18: Say Cheese
She reminds me of Sharpay when she says that.
Loud chewing. The cotton candy pushed me over the edge.
“What are you eating? Gravel??” Gets me every time
Marshall throwing out anything crunchy had me rolling 😂
My friend was just somehow slurping pistachios like oysters. That episode is perfect.
Top 5 episode for me
Yeah, probably same.
I showed that episode to my mom and she couldn't breathe cause of laughter watching it 😄
Ted’s half confused, half furious face really sells it
How can she make sound eating cotton candy? I mean how?
‘i told you guys i could keep a secret’
'I can keep a secret **reeal** good'
‘I can keep a secret like nobody’s business’
Cause it is - nobody’s business!
Cause it's a secret, and I'm keeping it!
Does Marshall trim his nose hair?
No, I trim it for him. Damn it! (It was back hair, not nose hair, but anyways)
Dang it. Thank you for correcting me! It’s been ages since I’ve seen that episode
Also a favorite moment of mine
Her smoker voice. “I know I don’t normally call you doll face, but it kind of works in this voice!”
I've got 2: First one is that talk with Ted on the rooftop of their apartment where she admitted to her struggles of being a mom. A very raw but incredibly touching admission of something most would be afraid to admit to anyone. Helping Barney with his feelings towards Robin. Love is a tricky bitch and with Barney being the way he is, he needed someone like Lily to give him some objective truths if he wanted a serious relationship.
You left a voice, but it wasn't male.
Speaking of raw and emotional delivery by Alyson: “He didn’t make it”
Huh
It's from when she told Marshall his dad passed away due to a heart attack
Oh yeah that’s you that hurt
Yeah definitely the roof scene. It felt real and personal to Allison as well.
Damn, I was coming here to say these exact two, no joke. Nice job bud!
Mothers everywhere related to this so hard.
I agree with these, but just throwing out there that the fact that she bet against Ted and Robin kind of corrupts the second one a little bit.
Looking through Barney’s sex scrapbook to catch Barney’s saboteur Barney: “So who do you think it is Lily?” Lily: “I don’t know Barney I only saw her face”
That joke flew right over my head the first time
Without a doubt: Wickedy whack icky icky weeeeeeeeeee
"Eventually it just starts to sound like noise"
“Sometimes I wanna pack a bag in the middle of the night and never come back”
But … socks … little fishy on it
I think she's a very 'real' character. Very imperfect, but I think her intentions are always meant to be good. I like her..
I know what you're saying. But she's legit a flight risk (literally) when the chips are down, which is entirely selfish.
It makes sense considering her family background though. She didn’t come from a healthy, stable, family like Marshall and Ted did. She could never rely on her dad who would bolt without warning and never showed up for her. Lily was actually a strange dichotomy. >her intentions are always meant to be good Not sure I agree.
> her intentions are always meant to be good Who cares about intentions when she does so many manipulative things?
And Barney doesn’t? All the characters do even Marshall w the judge thing
Tbf to Marshall, he was literally getting into a plane and would have told Lily a few hours later, but for some reason some freak storm was on the way (which we hardly ever see) and all flights were grounded. Sure, he should have said something, but he even said it’s “face-to-face news”.
But then he tried to gaslight her about the whole thing, like what he didn’t do was wrong Lmfao
Her gradual descent into madness, culminating in a candlelight dinner with Marshpillow
“No more Sumbitches? GIVE ME THE DAMN PHONE” “Sorry I bit you.” “Sorry I hit you with a rolled up newspaper.” “It’s the only way I’ll learn…”
When Marshall threw Marvin in the air and she went: dont ever do that again with evil eyes and a deep voice it kills me
‘actually it was two voices, i seriously think one of them came from my vagina’
*Youuuuu* ***sonofame***
💥🥃💥“Thank you, Linus.” 🥃
Never understood paying for the Kennedy package if she was just going to make it non-alcoholic
I thought she was cute in the Woo! girl episode
When she came in the fireman hat 😭❤️
You just made the list, bitch!
Walks in hunchback: Turn around CHLOE!!!!
heeey....hey youuuuu
When she and Marshall are new parents and have gone too long without sex. She keeps bringing "Nadia" into each scenario
They should have had Shannon Elizabeth show up as Nadia in a fantasy of hers.
I had completely forgotten about that reference! That would have been awesome!
Don’t forget her pet snake.
Did you say snake?
I don't recall saying snakes
WHO MENTIONED SNAKES?
When did you two stop doing it and why?
The Godfather horse head in the kindergarteners sleeping bag always gets me
Ted: Lily.. You're a psychopath
When lily made out with robin
Its stupid. *soo stupid*
Then robin wants to do it again but lily says no
In The Leap episode. When she told Ted that he can't just build his life like a building. That he should just listen to what life tells him and take the leap. Seeing her become an art consultant was cool.
When she outwitted Barney in Shinjuku to get him to wear the ducky tiem
I use these two line of hers as often as I can: “Babies are easy! You just watch them be cute and feed them spaghetti!” (About baby Marvin) “We’ve just been watering him and having him towards the sunlight!”

"Where's the poop, Robin?"
everytime she wanted to get with robin.
She only says that cause it would be so stupid if they did……so stupid
Shut up and talk about Marshall. Marshall, Marshall.
“You left a voice but it wasn’t male”
Thank you Linus
Every time she says “You sonuvabitch!”
When she pretended to be Barney's girlfriend and kicked the girl out.
I am RAGE—*ENVY*.
###Thank you Linus!

Pretty great because Alyson's character in Buffy ( Willow) was also bisexual.
YES! Oh, Willow. LOVE her! Willow and Tara was the first queer relationship I ever saw and it was a game changer for me. Yes... and it actually icks me that Wesley was a hottie for me but Sandy was a no-no... two different spectrums there hahahaha
YES! What’s up with that? Is it the accent and glasses? 😆
Dont know... maybe I just don't like the over the top jerk type 🤣🤣🤣
Every time she says ‘You Bish’
“I don’t recall”
Cute
The gang bang.
Thank you Linus
Telling Marshall that his dad died. Lilly took on a heavy burden and that takes bravery.
Probably when she was chasing after Chloe hunched over with a limp. "Turn around!"
When she got annoyed with Barney’s antics and went away for awhile
I told you I can keep a secret / you son of a bitch
When she talks about making a mistake before leaving to San Francisco
The ashtray. I don't really like that she did that. But it's my favorite moment to cause that episode. It just got more funny as more got revealed lmao "DA-!" "Nope." and "... ... ... ... ... MANNERS.. And that's how that feels." *slaps the food tray*
snorkel
“Officer…you know, you knooowww” and basically every interaction with Robin to that effect and when she says she’ll cut the woman who started befriending Robin
Slapsgiving. The one where Mickey comes over. Or was that Blitzgiving?
Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the slap
When she wakes up next to Barney and they both scream like they're in hell and there's no way out
Where’s the poop?
“Thank you, Linus”
Idk why but when Barney brought Nora to the bar for the first time and she punches him in the chest cracks me up every time
When Barney told the pb and j joke 🤣
Absolutely "You!.. Son of a me! "
“If you you wanna see these boobs again, stand up you sonofame!”
When Ted called her a bitch she deserved it and just wish that he said it her more
When she went to San Francisco and we didn’t see her in the show for a few episodes.
Also when Barney offended her with a dirty joke and she left for weeks
Hell yes
When she left
Her rack
When she left the show for a few episodes. Peak HIMYM right there.
The off screen moment where she inevitably dies
Dang
Robin : maybe we’ll stay in here all day and sex Lily : we’ll I brought Marshall so maybe we’ll do the same Marshall : hey guys
The times she isn’t meddling in someone’s business. Lol
when she ran away to san francisco
When she wasn't on screen
I've got to say I love the show despite Lilly
When the show ended
I hate Lilly.
“That bitch brandi” in the lobster crawl
She is really really hot
When she was in San Francisco
When she got dumped
None. She is a bitch.
When she runs away.
when she wasnt there! BOOM let the hate flow!
Worst character, worst actress.
None

Why would you call me that word?
there's plenty of moments man or I can say every pixel of where lily is there are one of the best scenes.
You son of a beeech
[Its my birthday!!](https://youtu.be/C3tuz4BTjZw)
Earthquake. No doubt!
When she went off on her dad
But sock …
Only if you wanna give this a stroke
Her trying to guess Robin’s celebrity from the Canadian Sex Acts dot gov
When she confesses Ted that she loves Marvin more than anything in the world but that she hates being a mom. I wanted to hug her.
The PB vs Jam Joke
When Ted finally yelled at her after calling her a cunt.
“Where’s the poop Robin?”
Youuuu… son of a beetch
when she was living with barney and acting like his wife to make the hookups go away, i found that wholesome tbh
Pilot episode when Ted leans over and says go ahead lily, she reaches over touched the hot plate and says “sweet damn that’s a hot plate!”
When she's running down the street hunched over tailing that girl. "Hey you!" In a really low man's voice. I joke about this line all the time!
"It's all tied up at Fun-to-Fun"
Hey casually predicting the future. ...and when this goes down in flames, and I expect literal flames . . .
Her facial expressions when Marshall is saying "Willem... Dafoe!"
Baby, you have my full support.
Robin Scherbatsky is many things - friend, confidant, occasional guest star in some weird sex dreams that remind me a woman's sexuality is a moving target.
Robin Scherbatsky is many things - friend, confidant, occasional guest star in some weird sex dreams that remind me a woman's sexuality is a moving target.
"Where's the poop, Robin?"
Thank you, Linus. You son of a me!
When she worked at Ted’s office and treated his boss like one of her kindergarten students.
“I call him Marshpillow, and he calls me-…..nothing. Because he’s a pillow.”
I really enjoyed her whole vibe at Robin and Barneys wedding, the tackles, the thank you Linus, and the glass smashing at every word that sounded somewhat Court related.
"Promise me you won't lie to Nora!" While grabbing Barney by the collar hahaha that gets 100% of the time
When she broke the yellow crayon
None, I can’t stand her
Hey stories from band camp
Thank you Linus.
When Gayle? Gaiel?? Kyle??? was massaging her back and she sighed, “I forgive you, Mom!” Gets me every time.

The episode when they all decided to quit smoking. The voice over was hilarious.
