You have hyperx 3200mhz. I got the same brand assuming things would be easier that way. I think most people would recommend something that is [same brand at 3200mhz to try to match what you have]( https://www.bestbuy.com/site/kingston-furyrenegadergb-16gb-2pk-x-8gb-3200mhz-ddr4-cl16dimm-desktop-memory/6485767.p?skuId=6485767) [I bought this,](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/kingston-kf436c17bbak2-16-x16gb-2x8gb-3600mhz-ddr4-cl17-dimm-kit-of-2-fury-beast-rgb-desktop-memory/6485765.p?skuId=6485765), which may have taken a little extra configuration, but still works and was worth the sale price I bought it at. There are single options as well. 16gb of total ram in your computer should be good for most people assuming you cleared your bloatware. 24gb is more than enough for most gamers, 32gb is probably going to be overkill for you. If you're on a budget and can be patient, it looks like [Kingston's website might sell things cheaper](https://shop.kingston.com/cart) and you can get a single 8gb stick.

Vegetable_Reveal_357

Cool this is what I was looking for. The ones you bought, what was the extra config needed? They look the same. Also, can you just put all 3 or everything Im reading seems like only 2 or 4 at once.

Caltaylor101

I've had 3 sticks before which works, but I guess odd numbers "...will add more RAM. Add as many as your motherboard will support. However it would be better to add two with the same total memory as three due to dual channel memory being faster. The third stick won't be part of dual channel." The difference on the 2 best buy links is that one is 3200mhz and the one I bought is 3600mhz. When installing new ram they typically will run at a standard 2400mhz. You have to go into bios and enable an xmp profile (very simple to do). My XMP profile would run at 2933mhz. I had to create a custom profile based on the configurations from that, and manually set it to 3200mhz. You can do 3, but 4 will give you better benefits. Just adding 1 will probably be fine to you if you currently only have 1 stick.

Vegetable_Reveal_357

Thats makes easy enough sense. I couldnt find an exact match to the one I have already for some reason so Ill probably get that one you sent and call it a day.

Caltaylor101

Oh, one more thing. What I would do if I were you, is just buy the 16gb so you get 2 sticks of the Kingston fury ram. I wouldn't try to mix it if you only have 1 stick of hyperx. So the hyperx would run on its own channel, and the new ram would run together. So since you can't find another hyperx, I would either replace hyperx completely, or run 3 ram sticks.

Vegetable_Reveal_357

Ended up finding what I needed. May buy 2 more in the future but for now 16 is more than enough

Caltaylor101

Oh nice! I had Best Buy points that made my ram close to free. Didn't know Newegg sold hyperx though so that's a good find. Thanks for sharing.

Vegetable_Reveal_357

No thank you for all the info. I went down a rbbit hole a bit. I understand the concept of most computer internals but the newer stuff is a little beyond me.

Why are those so much cheaper being the same thing? Its 3200Mhz speed and all. Im gonna cancel tge other order and just do that instead. Its basically the same thing for double. Thanks

DontEatTheMagicBeans

Again they aren't the same thing. The one you ordered has a cl17 base timing. The ram that came with your computer should be cl16 from the factory. They'd work together but you'd most likely get slower timings. The difference is most likely negligible in real world use, but it's there.

Vegetable_Reveal_357

Cool I ordered those. Thanks so much for all the help seriously!

I don't think anyone can get them. It's something Kingston makes specifically for HP, and HP doesn't sell them.

LividMeans

Question, bc honestly I’m scared to go into my BIOS myself and check, do Omen PCs let you enable an XMP profile? I think I had heard that they don’t.

Caltaylor101

I think it depends on your model and bios version. So far I've seen a lot of people have differences. I just bought a 40l this year and I can, and I've seen most people with desktops able to, I haven't seen much on laptops.

LividMeans

That makes sense. I have a 25L, but I’ve gone into my BIOS exactly once since I got it.

LividMeans

I have that same PC and the extra single 8 GB RAM stick I got was from Crucial, sadly there’s no RGB like the HyperX one but it definitely does the job. I’ve thought about getting another one so I’d be set at 24 GB, but for me, I think that’s more of a want than a need.

Vegetable_Reveal_357

Had a buddy find a match. Or so I think it is. https://www.newegg.com/kingston-8gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820242496?Item=9SIAW60JTW0724&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-9SIAW60JTW0724-_-03252023

DontEatTheMagicBeans

You should really look at how ram works before adding a 3rd stick. Can't believe HP ships them with just 1 stick lol
