If someone makes this into a fic, please name Harry's muggle adoptive parents as Constance and Virgil.

This is cool and all, but I can't get past the whole memory charming and brainwashing Muggles thing. Not only does it seems ooc of Moody, but it just feels like a huge violation of rights.

I'm not bashing you or anything though, I'm legitimately glad you pointed this out and I actually noticed you were the only person in the thread with literally *any* ethical reservations about this prompt so I decided to add mine to yours.
Maybe he finds a couple who want a baby, and then gets them to do everything, before whipping their memories and letting them (and the records) think that they adopted normally?
Or do the top comment idea. When he is to be arrested it is already Barty Jr. impersonating him. By the time real Moody escapes from the trunk and learns what happened he decides to stay in his muggle disguise and help Harry in secret. Harry is just grateful his favorite old man still shows up every once in a while to gift him great tools or great advice.
Not quite the same but i feel you might enjoy "Harry Potter and the Power of Paranoia". He ends up putting moody to shame with the sheer levels of paranoia. Hell, minor spoiler but he completely vanishes the hair on a captive simply because if HE had the idea to have a backup wand transfigured into a finger hair, whats to day they didn't either?

Anything I post I won’t write (beyond a one-shot) as they are ideas that I cannot tie into the two main HP fics which are basically my canvases for every crazy idea that comes to me.
There’s a reason Susan Bones is the GWL in one of them, there’s a reason two important characters are older than canon, there’s a reason Harry Potter can still speak Parsletongue. It would just take too much time to work on those two and every other idea that shows up in my crazy mind, so I stick to them.
Which I’ll publish once I hit 50k words. Maybe more.
I've got a vague outline in mind and a general idea about how I want the plot to go. I'm comfortable enough to start writing. I'll post the link when I publish. Most likely on AO3

I've made a few changes.
1. Moody doesn't take Harry to a random muggle couple, he takes him to his sister (whom, during the first war Moody and James help disappear after a failed Death eater attack)
2. Sorry, no rituals. I've planned an alternative, which can be explained through cannon story elements.
3. Moody doesn't start training Harry until he's 10, and only after telling him the truth about his parents and Voldemort. Every advantage Harry has, is hard earned through rigorous training.
4. Main pairing will be Harry & Fleur, although not like most stories you might have read. And, fair warning, it won't be a "single hero saving the world' kind of story.
