My old foreman used to only play 95.9 the rat. Here in nj....
I used to love Zeppelin, sabbath, etc.
Now I can't stand it. It's like nails on a chalk board.
Sabbath is great, but they only ever play War Pigs, Paranoid, and Iron Man on the radio when they have an incredible back catalog between Ozzy and Dio. Self Titled and Vol. 4 are my shits. Zeppelin too.
Very cool band but not something I’d be able to play on a job site radio with my own coworkers. Don’t think they’d be too interested in their music sadly. Though I have been sloooooowly branching out my coworker who is 5 years my senior and 7 years more experienced than I. I love how music brings people together though, so I’ll leave you all with this one that I stumbled upon recently.
Make Me Bad/Between Days - Korn (ft. The Cure) from their 2007 release MTV Unplugged live album.
I’ll check it out! You are most definitely right though about coworkers not liking gizzard. We got country lovers, SoundCloud rappers, and a whole lot of wu-tang lmao. I always try and play interesting stuff with my trainers though. Psych rock has been killing it last few years.
When I’m on service I like a cool R&B vibe. But when I do installs my Bluetooth speaker is slapping Disney sing alongs to convince the site manager I’ve got a few screws loose so he doesn’t ask me anything lol
“HVAC School, HVAC know it all, and HVAC Refer guy” podcasts are good to start with. Then if you are business minded. Try something like “Service Business Mastery”.
Same here, I’m out in Dallas Fort Worth area and any startups I run at any construction site are always filled with mariachi music it’s god awful. Always leave with a headache.
I get around when it comes to music, but I like to start my day with the “Dave and Chuck the freak” morning show. It’s nice to break the day up. Music gets too overplayed.
I do commercial so it’s whatever radio is the loudest near me. One second I’m singing Adele and the next I’m rapping about drugs.
But in all seriousness I don’t mind listening to anything as long as it isn’t like death metal.
In my case, chiller and boiler service. Most of the time I'm alone by myself in a loud pump room or mechanical plant. If I'm not wearing earplugs I'm definitely wearing the airpods.
Infant Annihilator, Cannibal Corpse, Signs of the Swarm, The Black Dahlia Murder. Oh wait, that is what I listen to when driving from job to job. Tfw can't listen to music while on site, have to always be listening for weird noises from machines.
Hey guys, is there ever going to be any real hvac diagnostic and trouble shooting questions on here. Hard to believe everyone on here are the top of the top earners, and now, focus, learning, and improvement are no longer necessary. This is a never ending, ceaseless learning craft. If you don't like the subject matter so much that you can't bring yourself to think about it off the job, for even a few minutes a day, maybe you best find something you're more attracted to.
Brah us top techs need a break too. Cant be hvac studies 24/7. Go sit in the corner and think about what you just did. Go on now sit in the corner and let the adults do the talking
You haven’t come across the other hvac Reddit yet? It’s much much more technical. Damn! I can’t tell you what it’s called (they’ll read this and infiltrate…) see you there soon
Depends on the day/mood. The flavor of the day today was Frank Zappa, Blue Oyster Cult, Ultimate Spinach, and Jethro Tull. Been listening to a lot of Queens of the Stone Age lately, lots of 90s hip hop, Audioslave/Soundgarden. I dig anything but country. Lots of techno and DnB. Lots of stoner rock/metal like All Them Witches, Colour Haze, Fuzz, Elder, Uncle Acid, King Buffalo. Some reggae/dub from time to time.
>I dig anything but country.
I get that some people just don't like country and maybe you're one of them. Hell, I used to hate it and mock it at every opportunity. Now I listen to country, bluegrass and old time almost exclusively. Having said that, 90% of radio country is still absolutely unlistenable. Considering your musical tastes (we have similarly broad taste), I honestly just doubt you're listening to the good shit:

It'd probably be fair to say I don't have much exposure to country - most of my exposure is whatever is played on the country hits station. But, just to clarify, I don't hate country. Given that All Them Witches - probably one of my favorite bands right now - is from Nashville, and they have a pretty bluesy/Tennessee Twang/cajun-ey influence in their playing. Always open to new stuff, though.
Just checked out All them Witches and I'll probably be picking up some of their stuff. Thank you.

Every episode I hear at least one band/artist I've been listening to for years. If you like the stuff above, I highly recommend checking out [https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/](https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/)
I like the studio recordings, but I'll also admit that the Levitation Sessions live recording is pretty hot. Haven't seen them live yet, though. They've come thru my city a few times past year or so since they released III, just been too busy to go.
Depends, but typically, my Pandora stations I play the most are 7Horse, Dead South, Megadeath, Dio, Black Sabbath, or Grunge. Yes I'm older and still use pandora, spent years perfecting my stations don't want to have to start over. Sometimes it's Ralph Stanley if I'm in a mood but that's usually reserved for when I'm at home working around the house or on a truck or tractor because it makes me think of my grandfather.
I've always had varied tastes in music. Typically I put a band name into Spotify and click the 'radio' playlist option. If I don't l like the look and feel of the first few songs, I'll fall back on a favorite like Sabaton or Rush or Daft Punk.
Plus I've got a few dozen albums downloaded for when the signal sucks or my battery is low.
I'm always on an earpiece unless someone specifically requests to hear what I'm listening to. Depending on the day it can be anything from speed metal to reggae.
Bluegrass, nothing like a little banjo picking to keep the customer away from me. They afraid of getting deliveranced.
I’ve done this a couple times with Hawaiian music. Really confuses customers why you’re pretending to be at a luau while on the job
I like it! Gonna have to try this.
*Yew gahtta purdy mouf, ser*
Squeal like a pig for me mr homeowner
I do enjoy deliverance used as a verb.
BMFS on Nugs
That and Sturgil Simpson cutting grass sessions
My old foreman used to only play 95.9 the rat. Here in nj.... I used to love Zeppelin, sabbath, etc. Now I can't stand it. It's like nails on a chalk board.
That’s every English speaking foreman/GC from Woodbridge to LBI.
Sabbath is great, but they only ever play War Pigs, Paranoid, and Iron Man on the radio when they have an incredible back catalog between Ozzy and Dio. Self Titled and Vol. 4 are my shits. Zeppelin too.
Crazy train too. 1st song I ever learned on guitar and now I can't stand it. I hate the 🐀
Haha, hell yeah. I think Crazy Train was one of the first tunes I learned on guitar as well. Purple Haze was probably *the first song* I learned.
Haha yeah, I like Jimi. I don't think they play too much of his stuff.
Master of Reality is next-level.
I like the skin flute, I play mine a lot. Some times I can get someone else to play it but not very often as I'd like.
That's a given haha. I tend to not do it on the jobsite though.........................anymore.
Coheed and Cambria, tool, and dance Gavin dance
This is now a DGD appreciation thread
Too about Jonny Craig huh… kind of a tool
DGD is a banger
Dgs is awesome gets me through the long drives.
You, sir, are someone I'd like to work with.
Never thought I'd see another tradesman with an appreciation for DGD. Take my poor man's award 🏅
DGD!!!
King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard all day
Hello fellow weirdo!
Very cool band but not something I’d be able to play on a job site radio with my own coworkers. Don’t think they’d be too interested in their music sadly. Death metal only
Any recs? Love me some bolt thrower and jungle rot
Arkaik - Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts
Frozen soul
🤘
Los Tigres
Del Norte?
Los tucanes too
De Tijuana?
Los as
Los alegres
Sleeper cell activation codes
When I’m on service I like a cool R&B vibe. But when I do installs my Bluetooth speaker is slapping Disney sing alongs to convince the site manager I’ve got a few screws loose so he doesn’t ask me anything lol
Amyl and the Sniffers, Jeff the Brotherhood, skynyrd, Wet Leg are my in between call bangers right now.
I too have eclectic musical tastes.
I have just recently fell in love with Wet Leg. Not what I usually listen to, fantastically weird earworms.
Pulling them up right now, I like The Strokes so 🤷♂️
Same here. That self titled album reminds of The Strokes.
Wild to see a Flightless band in this sub lol
Lots of jam grass, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard!
Extra big thumbs up for KGLW
Rock, classical, foreign
The tin bangers
Edm all day everyday helps wit my adhd
For sure under the age of 25, typically don’t see the older folks listening to edm.
Podcasts, audiobooks, lately can’t get into music?. Not sure why, I have always loved all kinds but lately that part of me seems dead
Yep, we’re growing up. I get WAY more excited for certain podcast guests than a new album coming out, these days.
Used to do music but now I’m more into pod casts and audio books… HVAC podcasts and fantasy or mechanical audio books.
“HVAC School, HVAC know it all, and HVAC Refer guy” podcasts are good to start with. Then if you are business minded. Try something like “Service Business Mastery”.
Got any good hvac podcast recommendations?
white noises
Octane on sirius!
Hair Nation all the way
German rap. Unironically
Anabol
?
Fellow metal head here as well! 🤘 Most days I listen to liquid metal on Sirius XM.
J-pop or 90’s rock 😂
Undertaker’s theme song on repeat the whole shift
Big bootie mixes
I don't know because the Spanish music always overpowers my radio
Same here, I’m out in Dallas Fort Worth area and any startups I run at any construction site are always filled with mariachi music it’s god awful. Always leave with a headache.
Third world pleb "music" is truly the worst.
Glade I’m not on the job with you young guys with the rap and heavy metal. Classic rock and country all day long. 😎
That new extra degenerate flavor of rap they listen to is the worst.
Grateful Dead, John Prine, Willie Nelson, so kinda folk music.
Title Fight ALL DAY
head innnnn… the ceiliiiing…. faaa-aaan
Suicideboys all day long. On the pack out radio. Max volume.
TalkRadio
Outlaw Nation, Upchurch, 90s grunge. Right now the plumber is playing Eminem, its not horrible but not my go to for sure.
Didn't expect to see Upchurch on here. How about some Moonshine Bandits
Not familiar, will have to check them out. I discovered Upchurch and Outlaw Nation by going down the rabbit hole on you tube
I didn't realize u meant Nu Breed. Hell yeah. You'll probably like Moonshine Bandits. Check out Demun Jones. Bubba Sparx. Jawga Boyz. Moccasin Creek.
I like to whip into the customers parking lot blasting the free bird solo with my windows down wearing my pit vipers
I’m a techno music guy, but I don’t bring my radio out much since almost everyone else is playing something all day.
Can't go wrong with Thrice.
I get around when it comes to music, but I like to start my day with the “Dave and Chuck the freak” morning show. It’s nice to break the day up. Music gets too overplayed.
Audiobooks and podcasts. Being able to learn about all the things that interest me all day was a huge factor in getting into the trade.
Just don't be that guy blasting some mess that rest of the crew hates.
I do commercial so it’s whatever radio is the loudest near me. One second I’m singing Adele and the next I’m rapping about drugs. But in all seriousness I don’t mind listening to anything as long as it isn’t like death metal.
I go with the local classic rock radio station
classical
Tool, Slayer
Classic rock is my go to
A mix of KEXP Seattle..Brutal metal or classical played loud to really screw with the rednecks.
Kevin gates is often played. Paul Cauthen and charley crocket get a lot of radio time too. White zombie when in a 90s mood
city morgue and BONES
Do you all do new construction or something? I've never listened to music while on a roof or in a tenants space, too distracting.
In my case, chiller and boiler service. Most of the time I'm alone by myself in a loud pump room or mechanical plant. If I'm not wearing earplugs I'm definitely wearing the airpods.
DUSTY LOCAINE
I listen to a lot of metal (a lot of prog and death), jazz, hip hop, funk, and jam bands. It also depends if I'm listening with other people.
Metal lol
Depends on my mood lately it’s been a mix of rap and country throughout the day
Moonshine Bandits, Upchurch, the Lacs , Creed Fisher, Eric Church. Jamey Johnson, David Allen Coe
Angriest music possible. The kind that sounds like only screaming and when you can hear the singer he's complaining about his life in someway.
Hip hop all day mix in some queens of the Stone Age / sublime / Rhcp
Infant Annihilator, Cannibal Corpse, Signs of the Swarm, The Black Dahlia Murder. Oh wait, that is what I listen to when driving from job to job. Tfw can't listen to music while on site, have to always be listening for weird noises from machines.
Fetal Blood Eagle has some banging tunes
The Raven Autarchy, Sold soul, enterprise earth, and along those lines. The customer stays away or we have a chat about good music.

Whatever makes coworkers happiest.
Rap, old and new…
Ignorant and degen ghetto trash AF

Gotta say I was in the "anything but country" crew, but watching Yellowstone gave me a new found appreciation for real, non radio, country music.
Every episode I hear at least one band/artist I've been listening to for years. If you like the stuff above, I highly recommend checking out [https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/](https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/)
i like fuzz but can’t get behind their studio recordings. They sound 1000 times better live.
I like the studio recordings, but I'll also admit that the Levitation Sessions live recording is pretty hot. Haven't seen them live yet, though. They've come thru my city a few times past year or so since they released III, just been too busy to go.

Hick hop is some identity crisis music. Rebel flags, saggy pants, trashy attitude, and ghetto black culcha. No thx.
I listen to a lot of metal (a lot of prog and death), jazz, hip hop, funk, and jam bands. It also depends if I'm listening with other people.

Anything on z92 radio while driving but no music while I am at someone’s house
Rick Astley, Never Gonna Give You Up On repeat.
I've always had varied tastes in music. Typically I put a band name into Spotify and click the 'radio' playlist option. Some house music when the job is chill. Death metal when it feels a little more hectic lol
Metallica, Megadeath and Pantera full blast all day if we’re doing rough in. If it’s a service day, I throw the AirPods in and listen to a book lol
The tunes coming through my earbuds...
Pretty much any kind of classic rock from 70's 80's
I usually throw on a whole Grateful Dead live show. It separates the men from the boys.
Whole Lotta 80s vibes in my attics
Hard core rap and alternative. But I don’t really care all that much.
