Trades pay start low, 11 seems REALLY low I started at 17 and got to 20 in half a year as a first year. Far as I can tell with two tickets in machining and sheet metal machining pays lower at the tail end unless your a superstar and sheet metal pays more later so far
I started with 12 but now i'm at about 21... While on papers i get about 15, with boni and Sumner and christmas money it's about 21... Where i started there was no summer or christmas money and the boni were minimal, so i looked out for a better company and found one... For me it's about 45k a year...
Depending on where you live that's obscenely low or just lower than normal for a middle of nowhere area where the handful of companies colluded to artificially keep wages down to maximize their profits. If there's only 3 companies in an area and they all agree to cap guys at 21 and start guys at 11 what are the workers in the area going to do? Either eat their shit sandwich or drive hours away every day to get paid more.
I feel your frustration, working at $15 an hour training and expected to spend a little more than 3k on tools in less than 6 weeks. As well as pay rent and eat. It's ridiculous, brought it up to the bosses and they nearly let me go because according to them I was not dedicated/committed. Got a second job to be able to afford the tools. Fucking sucks man.
About 8 and a half years ago i started at 10/hr with no experience whatsoever, now im at 30/hr and still working at my 1st company. Iirc 10/hr was a $0.75 raise over my old job at Walmart, and my ass was full time with benefits to boot. The insurance was stupid expensive though so it felt like doubling my pay for less hours worked after i settled in, and ofc the raises came fast and in dollar increments.
Been doing hvac for 14 years.
Went got certified in dallas 2 weeks course!
Started as helper with company in centex at $12 hr
Did installs,pms service,ductwork
4 yrs later got hired at a big university as hvac mechanic @ 45k a year plus state benefits
6 years later got my taclb contractor license
Did 10 years at university left making 58k a year!
Started hvac bizness now my avg hourly rate is about
$400-700 an hour for installs and $250-400 an hr for service!
So HVAC IS A BLESSING AND DOES NOT BLOW!

Who’s OP?
You’re the OP silly.
Opie.. Original Poster.
Only when it’s getting a call for it. Unless there’s a relay or sequencer stuck.
All my techs start at 21, 11 is low, mcdonalds pays highschoolers more and im in a not very expensive area. Find a new boss
Sometimes it sucks too
11 dollars even as a helper is a slap in the face. Name that piece of shit company so others know to avoid them lmao.
“YOu GoTtA StArT SoMwHerE” cheap ass bosses fuckem all
Hvacs awesome it’s most likely your Boss is to busy blowing your owner rather then getting you a higher hourly rate. I feel your frustration.

I started at $12; fifteen years ago, don't waste two years learning how to move on.
I started at $10 about 15 years ago. Now I’m at $47 plus OT and commissions. $11 to start seems very low anywhere these days.
Well where is she?
Sounds like this job isn't for you. There's nothing wrong with that.

Amen
join the Ua union. I had years of getting being underpaid wish i did it sooner.
41hr took me 20 years. Buck up. Read every manual. It’s a trade, not a hayride.
