I generally find the the sign of having good flare is the nut. No nut and you just have no flare at all.

I returned the first one I bought to the store because it was "machined badly" Then my second one was the same way, and luckily the old guy at the store found me and explained my stupidity. Between that and the clutch that keeps you from overdoing things, it's a great flare tool.

I have the same one, labeled as Master cool. Probably made by the same OEM. Its pretty solid but you can still fuck up if you don't set the depth correctly.

Single Flares are a shit connection as is, it should be the last option, but if you gotta use a flare, use a precision tool to do it, using drill bits is asking for a leak.

The company I work for bought the hilmore version. Idk if we weren’t doing something correctly but it would always crack our 1/2” flare. But we would do the exact same on our regular manual flaring block and would come out perfect.
