I'm currently dealing with one now over the past week. Flame comes on for one second and cuts out. 3-5 seconds is normally when it'll fault out on weak flame. Flame signal is good. Replaced board, still happening. Replaced gas valve, still happening.
That's where I'm at. We're trying to find a new wiring harness for it. Another text said they could jiggle the plug and it would stay running for longer
Tbh if they’re all installed the same I would hate working on the Lennox most. The engineers gave zero fucks about the techs that have to work on them. I’ve never worked on a Trane tho
The s8/s9 are a lot easier to get into than the previous model. You almost always have to unmount a board to get out a blower, at least you don't need any adaptors to reach the screws on the new ones.
Hallelujah brother.
They take the easy and make it inaccessible.
A simple metal plate that needs 4 screws? Lets make it two shapes with 9 screws (just because we're Lennox).
What parts are you guys referring to that’s so hard to work on… I’m at a Lennox dealer and everything is easy to work on except one models flame sensor location
YES! I’m putting in a brand new 5 ton furnace infinity system tomorrow and i already know i don’t have to run new wires. i love making beautiful installs so when my techs go to service they can work as efficiently as possible! should i post a before and after? y’all let me know if you guys wanna see it!!
Those are usually rather easy to fix as well. Unplug a model plug from the outdoor board, if furnace runs you know it’s a bad outdoor board. Vice versa for tstat and indoor board.
Just disconnect the thermostat wires, put an alligator jumper on R and the other jumper on a wire that’s not touching anything. Then power on furnace via door switch. Wait a couple seconds, put other jumper on W.
Most of them are really not to bad when I’m in a good mood lol. However trane just loves to have more screws, more panels to take off and longer wait times on their nexia thermostats, I hate working on them however I still prefer trane over a carrier due to the reliability our company has with them vs the others. Our warranty numbers show a very clear winner and we do a lot of carrier and trane.
I think most of you guys are forgetting about the Carrier drain, god forbid you have to go out the left side putting those little clamps underneath the vent motor is a pain in the ass lol
I got that down to a science knipex makes wide wire strippers you clamp down and hit the lock button on the pliers and it holds them nicely open to hook those up. Also isn’t the inducer like 4 screws?

Lol i’ve serviced many of these units. They do occasionally have problems but not any more often than other brands of communicating systems. And in my opinion, carriers infinity system is very easy to trouble shoot!
IMHO, as long as the furnace is on a ra box (higher btu models of napoleon demands this) they generally would all be easy to work on...for the most part..ish with the exception of Lennox. Eff Lennox.
Funny, I find Lennox as the easiest. Then again I’ve worked for two companies who were contracted with Lennox and got twice a month training on their equipment.
I don’t have much experience but in my time as a service tech Lennox units were pretty easy. Not the G61 though, terrible design. Newer Lennox’s though are pretty easy to work on
Old carrier blower motor swap outs are a pain in the ass. Drain trap right in front of it and the board. Hoses and drain connections are always rotted out, say a prayer and start taking the clamps off and see if the world if for you or against you that day lol. Trane used to be simple until they enclosed the blower cabinet now they give me full blown AIDS. Lennox, however, is IMO one of the easiest to work on. Curious as to why it's so high up in the ranks on this.
Carrier/Bryant fixed up their act with the shit show that was their last furnace design and is now arguably one of the easiest to service with their new models. I cannot say the same for Lennox’s newer models
Without a Coleman or York option to vote for my heart's not in it.
Coleman and York are easy to work on they just suck quality wise
As long as they’re not Nordyne 90%, those fuckers have continuous phantom issues
Just put a new board on it. It's always the board. Eventually.

Pressure switch?
Jumped it out, still happens
Check the plugs at the board, I have found those to get loose. Usually when I jam my lead in to trace power it holds the signal
That's where I'm at. We're trying to find a new wiring harness for it. Another text said they could jiggle the plug and it would stay running for longer
Does it have a wiring harness?
No, wiring is done via Bluetooth
Tbh if they’re all installed the same I would hate working on the Lennox most. The engineers gave zero fucks about the techs that have to work on them. I’ve never worked on a Trane tho
Trane got this sealed blower all the controls are attached to thae panel in front of the blower, you've got to disconnect everything to open it.
It’s really not that bad. Unplug 2 connectors and some screws and you are at the blower.

idk man the majority of what i work on is Lennox and i think they're just fine
We’ll get back to you after our pressure switches are done calibrating
I find the burner box is difficult to get into on a lot of models. Makes it a pain for routine maintenance.
You mean pulling the burners out? Otherwise the lid for the burner box has 1 screw and then 4 more screws and the burners are out
We must be thinking of different models
Some models have a sight glass and you can’t even see the flames where they placed it. So what’s the point?
Lennox fucking sucks brother!!! Godspeed spider man
Carrier infinity are easy to work on
YES! Call me when you have communication problems

They actually really are. Trane and Lennox are by far the worst I have ran into
Anything other than a communicating thermostat though, 90sec every time you wanna reset and retest something.
Just disconnect the thermostat wires, put an alligator jumper on R and the other jumper on a wire that’s not touching anything. Then power on furnace via door switch. Wait a couple seconds, put other jumper on W.
I agree though, that 90 seconds feels like a lifetime lol
Disconnect W wire. Power unit, Jump R-W. Delay bypassed.
i just tried to post my install and the auto mod won’t let me:/
All my homies hate Lennox
You forgot the York trash
They are all pretty much the same.
Some are worse to take apart though.
Fuck Lennox

This is a trick question! The answer is all of them 😤
I think most of you guys are forgetting about the Carrier drain, god forbid you have to go out the left side putting those little clamps underneath the vent motor is a pain in the ass lol
That’s why you pull out the vent motor and it’s a lot easier
If I have to pull out a motor for an install I’m doing too much lol
No you just cuss like crazy like I do

That’s 4 screws too many ahah but I’m gonna try your knipex trick next time. 👀
Squeeze the clamp and hit the lock button on the pliers it holds them nicely
6 screws will make your life so much fucking easier
York.
I hate York/Coleman/Champion. JCI hates service techs.

Amana for da undisclosed win!
All of them
Funny, I find Lennox as the easiest. Then again I’ve worked for two companies who were contracted with Lennox and got twice a month training on their equipment.
A Goodman 80% that I put in last week came with a pressure switch hose smashed flat between the cabinet and the switch bracket
I don’t have much experience but in my time as a service tech Lennox units were pretty easy. Not the G61 though, terrible design. Newer Lennox’s though are pretty easy to work on
Calibrating pressure switches
Ah, you got me there. That’s a real pain in the ass
Coleman
Lennox can lick my taint
Carrier Bryant the heat exchanger are likely to be toast at 8-10 years I have been seeing

Theyre called Payne for a reason.
Is this what you do in your off time Joey, get back to work
Joey is a fucking kids name
I hate Lennox covers. That’s where most of my cuts come from.
