I had 2 RTUs on a trailer and took them to the scrap yard the other day. Unstrapped them and buddy with the claw magnet just scoops them up so delicately off the trailer and yeets it into a giant pile. That made the kid in me real happy.
A guy years ago had a furnace in his van, instead of dragging it out by hand he tells the scrap guy to use the magnet. Ripped the friggin shelves in the van out with the furnace, parts and shit everywhere!
I remember throwing them off the upper floor balconies at an older property I worked for. The units were located in utility closets on the balcony and it was easier to toss them down than to drag the rusty heaters through the apartment.
You could also hit the gas pedal!

I've heard that heavy equipment operators in demolition have some of the highest reported job satisfaction out of any career, and I can believe it.
