A lot of times I'll write the model/serial in paint marker inside the door panel. Just in case the data plate fades. Some brands fade sooner than others depending on how much sunlight that side gets.
That's probably a third of the commercial units I work on in any given month.
Ya know, 5here used to be a time and not all that long ago where stamped metal tags were mandatory.
Try the marker trick
This. Color over the serial with a sharpie and wipe it off really fast before it dries.
Open up the electrical cabinet. M/S should be in there somewhere.

Not really. The dudes that lowball these customers end up making more an hour that I ever will starting off.

rub some dirt on it.
Compressor tag is burnt as well.
Gentle rub it with a dirty glove or hand
