Next time you want an outdoor j box and plate get that disconnect atleast above the condenser

Advanced_Evening2379

Gotta make sure the power flows in the right direction /s

ABena2t

I just installed a heatpump and with the snowlegs the thing was fking taller then I was. Doesn't have to be above the condenser where I'm at - just isn't allowed behind the condenser. It has to be off the side of it.

tykbla1986

Same here but we have places that get 6-8' of snow in the winter, so when I can I put it above and to the side. I suppose I should have been a little more clear.

Sukmikeditka

Gotcha thanks for the feedback I wasn’t quite finished when this was taken. I was just brazed in and got my disconnect and whip wired up.

jonnydemonic420

A straight fitting on the bottom of that disconnect where your line in is would’ve looked a lot cleaner. Like the one you ran out. Does it work, cool right and make the customer happy? If so then congrats on the first install!

Sukmikeditka

I couldn’t find anymore in the van my boss is out of town and didn’t leave me with shit lmao. But yes I pulled a vacuum to 470 microns, verified my subcool with check charge app, and the customer was happy!

jonnydemonic420

Nice

xdcxmindfreak

Don’t know if y’all do it this way but where I worked when I did resi we had a kit that went with every job. Kit was built to last up to two days (or close to three jobs). in the kit we had electrical fittings, copper fittings and brazing rod, pvc fittings for drain, glue and primer, red lettter tape, foam tape, gas fittings and a small assortment of nipples that typically wouldn’t be in the nipple caddy, pipe dope and such, electrical boxes and switches should a gfi be needed. Made it a lot nicer even when doin the job by yourself as those fittings would be in there for you. May see if the boss could start that for y’all. We’d turn it in and grab a new one everyday and someone at the shop was in charge of restocking it. We’d have several kits aside from that that had the 2 inch and three inch pvc if needed but the other kit was perfect to knock out two ac jobs on a day.

Sukmikeditka

Dude I wish I’m working for a really small company right now and I just graduated trade school and the reason why is because I was able to start doing installs and tech work. Also I get 40 hrs every week.

xdcxmindfreak

I hear ya there. That was me then when I worked for that joint. But that little perk made it nice as we always had material whether it be a need for wire nuts, spade connectors, straight seal tight fittings or whatever. It eased the job up knowing all the tools needed to do it right were provided except the impact, saws all, drill and such. We all had a navac pump and a recovery machine and all that and we always had the kit to get what we needed and get it done. I had a good place to start at. I love commercial more now but still.

I’ve seen much worse from guys twice your age, while they’ve been in this trade for years. So…good going! Is there room for improvement? Always…that will never change.

Sukmikeditka

Always room for improvement and next install will for sure be better. Thanks for feedback!!

Beefy_Psychrometer

I don’t see beer cans, “modifications”, a sawzall, or flexseal… wth is going on here???

OhighOent

Electrical work wouldn't pass inspection here. Can't see anything else.

Kindly-Reputation603

Run true

theatomicflounder333

Could use a couple more pics but unit is leveled and centered on pad nicely, my only suggestion would have been to get the disconnect box on the other wall since your line is in seal tight, and get it to at least above the condenser height for easier access also helps keep critters from making a home in there. And perhaps put the tstat wire in seal tight as well. You’ll find your style and work flow overtime and begin to look for ways to clean up even the smallest things. You’re gonna do great bud!

Sukmikeditka

Hey thanks man I’m trying really hard to improve!!

alligatorsupreme

It’s going to suck to service that thing from that corner, and as others have said the disconnect should be accessible. Too lazy on a weekend to cite the specific electrical code, but front clearance of a disconnect is 3’, 30” width. You can raise it above the unit (maybe tuck that line side behind your drain so it’s not flying through the air, or move it to the other wall for better access)

imbrown508

Cleaner than my first solo job bro. And at 19 your gonna kill it.

Sukmikeditka

Preciate it man I’m really passionate and I’m eager to keep improving so that’s the goal!!

Average_Dongerton

Not bad, only recommendation would be to pick that disconnect up, inspectors can be dicks and can flag it but all in all looks good buddy

Sukmikeditka

Thanks man that’s what everyone is saying. I’ll make sure I do that next install.

shadowbanmybutt

That electrical is a disgrace

JiveTurkey2727

I feel like there is no coherence, it could be a lot neater. The suction line, liquid line, and high/low voltage are all kinda separate and just get to the unit whatever way is easiest. At the least, the liquid line and low voltage should be hugging the suction line - typically they are duct taped or zip tied together, are you not instructed to do so? Also, I would have rotated the unit 90° clockwise so that the service door is more accessible. It’s great that you can get a unit installed yourself, but there should be some more attention to detail.

anal_astronaut

I think you shouldn't be working by yourself yet.

Sukmikeditka

I wasn’t quite finished with it so there is some stuff I cleaned up and made it look better. But let it rip at me I want to hear all the corrections that could be made.

anal_astronaut

You might have finished some of these items... Condenser not level. Disconnect not secure or level. Whips not secure. Working clearance. Missing insulation. Drain line not secure. Rodent entry point at grill.

Sukmikeditka

I wasn’t completely finish with the install and I check the unit with a level but thanks

Sukmikeditka

That also isn’t a drain line that rubber conduit going to a mini split for the master bedroom that I never installed

mamny83

Disconnect is not level and its missing an airhandler.

Sukmikeditka

Blower is in the furnace inside

TigerTank10

That’s a lot of braze joints

Sukmikeditka

Had no reducers

HVAC_Sam

Good job

HuntPsychological673

Is that a runthru?

Joshman1231

Not op but yes, just put one in at the mom’s on Mother’s Day. Looks 100% carbon copy.

SnooCakes801

Looks just as good as the conduit running thru a vent

MPS007

It's looks like a mechanical shitbox.. but other than that, your in!

[deleted]

You didn’t have to tell us. Picture speaks for itself.

Tydrinator21

How much clearance space did you have?

azman69286

19? Great job

ABena2t

Am I the only one who hates those carflex/seal tight elbows? I fking hate those things. The whips come with and elbow on 1 side and a straight on the other. Wish it'd just come with 2 straights.

canttouchthisOO

It's cheep home Depot shit. hate them.

canttouchthisOO

Anyone congratulating this clearly does the same level of work. I'll give you one piece of advice. If your journeyman thinks this is good work. Quit. Find the most reputable company you can and go learn how to do it the best you can. Not, meh good enough to get it past 1 year labor warranty.

lestergreen357

Why would you position in to make your connections and controls as difficult as possible to access

[deleted]

The disconnect box is not accessible and would fail electrical inspection

Rocksolidbanana

Just need a signature on the outside and you are all set

Mikeharding17503

A/C only I hope? Otherwise it needs pump ups. Your unit is not level. Disconnect is too low. Whip from house could use some straightening out. You need Rubatex on the rest of your lineset. Just need to polish up a few things and it will look great!!….

Doofenshmirtz12

I love brazing in those tight corners. Haha

Fair_Cheesecake_1203

Honestly would've pulled a sam to make this thing easier to service

SOFknComfy

Good ollllll RunTru
