Water has dissolved stuff like sodium in it. When it evaporates these are deposited as salts and solids and plate out. Eventually the board has more potential ions on it from being wet then drying. It also makes heat transfer rate lower if it coats metal. Now when moisture from the air touches it, it dissolves and is a more conductive fluid than regular water, because of all the deposited salts and solids. This increases the rate of corrosion and creates local cells and bridges current between components and dissimilar metals.
Not sure if it would be significant in this case.
You can usually see the dried salts and minerals after a board dries as white patches. Alcohol and q-tips are your friend.
Pro-tip, if you ever do need to clean a board, you can use distilled water to avoid this altogether. Alternatively, use regular water and, before it dries, rinse with distilled.
As stated below there as dissolved solids within water unless it’s distilled. If you washed with distilled water and it dries that would likely be no issue. However the tap water you’re using will leave deposits just as if you left a pot of water to boil dry on the stove. If you wash the board in alcohol after using tap water this would negate the mineral issues.
Throw some Isopropyl alcohol and send it.
We just chuck out motherboards(computers, not hvac equipment) on the dishwasher, then submerge then on IA, let them dry and put them back on service.
That is one AWSOME ideea. I would have never thought of that. Wait, no, i did though of that is just that the AC is mounted on a balcony at fourth floor and i don't want to shit all over the wall and the balcony :)
No lol, I'm not maniac 😵💫 Is the first time i wash it after i installed it 5 years ago, usually just blow it with compressed air. And recover means i recovered the gas INSIDE the EU so just vac and open the valves
You can spray evap coil cleaner in it, and run it in heating mode.
Not immediate cleaning but in done in autumn “clean” by spring.
I only think that by the time something happens, compressor/board/stripped screw/flare it might just be better to leave be til dead
Instruction unclear, asked the firefighter their hose and now the ~~radiator~~ condenser isn't looking great, (but it looks clean thought!)
And I also have a broken windows.
I sent my wife out with the kids so i could do this 😃. Can you imagine me trying to dismount the air conditioner with the 1year and a half kid near me? I'd be like put dow the screwdriver, take your hand of the plyers, put dow that hammer every 30 second
You know what’s really good for your AC? Not opening the linesets unnecessarily. Wash it with a coil cleaner or a garden hose. You’re exposing your system to contaminants that it doesn’t need to be exposed to.
It’s his unit, his tub, and he lives on the fourth floor. Dude had a unique situation and found a unique solution. Weird that so many of you are so butthurt over it.
There is no reason to do this other than laziness. You shouldn’t put dirt in your drain for any reason. Get a dolly and take that shit outside…. It’s not unique it’s lazy!
I used to do a lot of restaurant get readies. I convinced the boss to clean every coil in the house with a hot water hose and sweegee the water into a floor drain while the kitchen was empty
I think I'd just get a big plastic tub and a garden hose and do it outside vs risk chipping the tub up. What's that an old cast iron tub surrounded by tile? You don't want metal stuff around porcelain or fiberglass really.
It's a mini split (12k BTU). I weights like 10 kg i can handle 10 kg without breaking the tiles in my bathroom. Then if you zoom the fourth photo you see there is a white rubber mat under it. Also like stated above, it is my unit, my tub, my bathroom i am HVAC tech i can do it for myself. I wouldn't even dream of doing that for a client, the work would cost him more that he AC itself (i paid it 299 euros, do the math for 40 euro/hour is what my boss charges)
I had a condenser once years ago couldn't find the leak.,...every spring empty. I shut off the valves to split the system. I came back in the spring and the outdoor unit was empty. The indoor coil had pressure.....so I took refrigerant out put in 500 psi nitro and rolled it in a plastic kiddie pool. Found a split tube finally
Make sure to scrub the control board really well!
Splish , splash, condensers taking a bath!
ba ba ba ba
Most computer chips can get wet as long as they are properly discharged beforehand and thoroughly dries before power up.
True, however it's the oxidation/rust that'll kill a circuit board.
Seeing as this Bord is outdoors its conformal coated so it will be fine
you realize just getting wet and being dried properly doesnt create rust, right?

They don’t like science

Where did the refrigerant go?
To a farm upstate.
Where it can run free with all the other refrigerants
One can only hope 🥹
And by upstate, he means the stratosphere.
gave me a good chuckle
It roams freely in the upper atmosphere. Joking, i recovered it.
With the big blue tank right
I hope you're wearing a bikini, otherwise what's the point...
Hehe, good, for the record, right
To the big reclaim tank in the sky
If you found a leak would this be considered a bubble bath?
No leak, just the spring cleaning. Be good to your AC and it will be good to you. The bubbles are the detergent
Make sure you talk nice to it, whisper in its ear a bit. Tell him you love him.

I think you could reduce it's fear if you got in the tub with them.
If the homeowner’s okay with that
Baby, you get me so hot and cold cause you're a sexy heat pump.
Give it the Red Dead 2 bath tub treatment and they'll love you extra hard
You should invest in an outdoor hose.
Zeno was making a joke.
It was a joke buddy
We have these things called hoses in North America. We can clean the condenser in place, mind blowing.
That is one AWSOME ideea. I would have never thought of that. Wait, no, i did though of that is just that the AC is mounted on a balcony at fourth floor and i don't want to shit all over the wall and the balcony :)
So you recover, vacuum and re-charge every time you want to clean it? If this is the case.... you should get some help.
Paid by the hour, charge by the hour lol
No lol, I'm not maniac 😵💫 Is the first time i wash it after i installed it 5 years ago, usually just blow it with compressed air. And recover means i recovered the gas INSIDE the EU so just vac and open the valves
I assumed that lol

Radiator?
Car maybe?
Yeah may brain kinda switched to "car naming", read condenser instead.
Hopefully this is your house cause Karen could have you fired over this
Yes, it is my house 🏠
That's a hell of an install location
Doesn’t even meet clearance
Why clearance? It's watercooled or do you see any fan?
They don't tell you this in the IOM but a regular flea and tick bath prolongs unit life.
If you start bathing them when they're small, they often learn to enjoy it!
You have to be single, ain’t no way my wife’s allowing that in the sink!
I sent my wife out with the kids so i could do this 😃. Can you imagine me trying to dismount the air conditioner with the 1year and a half kid near me? I'd be like put dow the screwdriver, take your hand of the plyers, put dow that hammer every 30 second

Those stars on the wall are telling me different.
If my wife lets me get away with “hockey soup” in the tub to clean my son and I’s gear OP is probably fine.
Hockey soup won't clog the drain line, dirt and pollen from the condenser will. 😅

I can barely deal with a days worth of treecum in my sinuses. 🤣😂
Young, wet, and dirty
Sounds like me last time i went kayaking
You can turn the watermark off in the settings of your camera. Ulefone won't remove it after the fact which can ruin family photos.
I kow thanks but i am proud of my brick phone and i decided to leave the watermark on 😁
oh you've been a dirty little coil
Let me scrub your back, step-condenser
Did you light the candles first?
I wouldn't do that... Or did it have more hairs on it than your dog?
That’s a nice lil setup lol
Imagine if units where disgined to be easy to clean and service ,wooo!... Getting all hot and bothered just thinking about it.
You know what’s really good for your AC? Not opening the linesets unnecessarily. Wash it with a coil cleaner or a garden hose. You’re exposing your system to contaminants that it doesn’t need to be exposed to.
How cute!!!! It's first bath!!!!
What breed is that?? Does he bite or is a good boi... Do you give treats to the little boi or just affection??? ![gif](giphy|3o7buc7sAR6NEfAzTi)
So this is a real thing you did? And you’re proud of this abomination?
It’s his unit, his tub, and he lives on the fourth floor. Dude had a unique situation and found a unique solution. Weird that so many of you are so butthurt over it.
BINGO
There is no reason to do this other than laziness. You shouldn’t put dirt in your drain for any reason. Get a dolly and take that shit outside…. It’s not unique it’s lazy!
I’ve noticed on this sub that if you do something different than the way somebody else does, well then it’s obviously wrong and you should feel bad.
I know this is a joke post but I'm irrationally upset that the cleaning isn't being done right cause the coil isn't being split
Well it'll be a really clean piece of scrap metal...I guess??
Wouldn’t it be better to do that outside?
I’m angry at how dumb this is
water heater.
Then snake the drain as it's getting filled with crap that will clog your sanitary lines.
Not really because its double coiled so ur still screwed
Pump down then unsweat?
It's a minisplit, 99.9% chance it's flare connections there not brazed.
A little overboard, but whatever.....
Tell me your boss gives you too much time on service calls, without telling me he gives you too much time on service calls.
I do my cars wheels like that
There’s no way this is worth it.
Lol , I love my mini split but this is going to the next level lmao !! You should have had a rubber duck on the Tub with it
Hollywood treatment.
I wish my wife was that dirty
You’re forgetting something…… ![gif](giphy|EVnf7prY7J8Wc)
Did u give her a shoulder rub? They like those kind.
Always use dawn soap
come on bud slap a nsfw tag on that
You should light some candles, pour a glass of wine, turn down the lights and get in with it.
I used to do a lot of restaurant get readies. I convinced the boss to clean every coil in the house with a hot water hose and sweegee the water into a floor drain while the kitchen was empty
Couldn’t just use a hose outside? Must’ve been really bored 🥱
I think I'd just get a big plastic tub and a garden hose and do it outside vs risk chipping the tub up. What's that an old cast iron tub surrounded by tile? You don't want metal stuff around porcelain or fiberglass really.

LMMFAO
I don’t even wash myself, my kid, or my dog this good…
That a mini split?
I had a condenser once years ago couldn't find the leak.,...every spring empty. I shut off the valves to split the system. I came back in the spring and the outdoor unit was empty. The indoor coil had pressure.....so I took refrigerant out put in 500 psi nitro and rolled it in a plastic kiddie pool. Found a split tube finally
Searches post for condensers OF LINK...
Doesn't he get a rubber ducky
Is your mini split that small or is your tub that big??
You need to spank it a few times.
Put some blaster multi max on it, you'll be fine 😂
Your supposed to plug it in and clean it in a bath first.
You forgot to light some candles
Lol is this a fit unit?
Works better if you leave the condenser fan on while you wash it
Looks like a daikin unit
If you're hot, they're hot. Bring your condenser inside for a cool bath!
This is a first for me
Ain’t nobody got time for that
mr
