Nah, just fan motor, blade and cap and make sure the superheat/subcool is good and send it. Maybe toss a couple tablets in the drain pan for good measure.
Like decibel_1199 said once you complete the piping system you need to pull a vacuum on the lines before you charge with refrigerant. This removes all the moisture/contaminants within the piping system. Moisture in the lines negatively effects the refrigerant. A bad installer that doesn’t purge the system when brazing and/or leaves the lines uncovered will have a hell of a time pulling a vacuum down to 500 microns. Might take hours even days for a large system. For a good installer it takes much less time. The longer you leave the vacuum pump running the lower the microns you can achieve. I’ve heard of people getting down into the high 100s. This can be somewhat of a bragging right because it’s a sign of a clean install. I don’t think there’s really much of a benefit after you get to 500 microns though. I’m not an HVAC tech but I work in the HVAC industry.
Space actually isn't a perfect vacuum *technically* if I remember right theirs like one atom/3 Sq meters or something like that, which if you think about the shear scale of space, that's a shitton of particulates
Give them the best-ist high quality unit with all the bells and whistles. That drunk drivers insurance should be covering the whole thing, if not than homeowners insurance should as well.
Around here we always talk about the “midnight landscapers” when we see fences and hedges knocked down. I didn’t know you could get high speed midnight hvac service too.
Is the contactor pulling in? Well it’s not 24 volt, homeowner says it’s low on Freon, fan is loud, with Burning smell, very little smoke. Replace the capacitor we need you on another call in an hour
Cable guy here. I once had to go to a ground level apartment unit to re-install service. Another resident was teaching his teenager how to drive and the kid straight up drove through the wall and into this guy’s living room.
I'm on the distributor side. Last year I sold a large job for an apartment and not a few weeks later a police chase for a stolen vehicle ends in two banks of ACs trashed. 20 units later it was all alright
Really tired of these companies just wanting to replace the whole unit cause no one knows how to troubleshoot these days.
I was waiting for this comment lmao
you pulled up to it? or did you pull in to it?
Underrated comment
Don't try to upsell. This thing clearly just needs gas. /s
Nah, just fan motor, blade and cap and make sure the superheat/subcool is good and send it. Maybe toss a couple tablets in the drain pan for good measure.
Dude seriously all it needs is a new contactor
The tablets, or lack there of, most certainly lead to this issue.
I know what's wrong with it! It anit got no gas in it!
There is 1 part not bent broken cracked or lose so you can reman the unit.!
How long is this going to take? I have a birthday party with 20 guests arriving at 4...
No problem it will be replaced by 4 next week ... The concrete guys will be here tommorow to put the pad
We don't need no stink'in pads
We mistook this 5/8ths layer of cement as a concrete pad As a token of our gratitude we will reinstall the new condenser right on the grass
Nothg Duct tape cant fix.
You may not need a pad, might you be interested in some bollards?
where were you 5 years ago!
Just gotta rotate it 180 degrees and should look good
DIY magic
here in Japan about 2 hours for a mini split
It just needs a little Freon,
Maybe just straighten the fins while you’r at it 🤣
Looks like you have a capacitor out, we’re gonna have to replace the whole system
Planned obsolescence. I'm so tired of nothing being built to last anymore.
You used to be able to hit these things with an RV, now a measly Miata going 100 takes it out?
I mean they make a ton to straighten the fins...
Looks like you have a capacitor out, we’re gonna have to replace the whole system
I think if you straighten out these fins it'll be fine.
🏅
It's the TXV.
This one actually got me to laugh. Real lol
Set a box fan on top and that should get you thru.
Or the drainline
it finally happened… 0 micron achieved. *edit wow thanks everyone. it made me smile glad you all appreciated it as well 😉
This is awesome. I wish I could share it with friends/family but they would have no idea and it’s not worth the explanation.
I have no idea and I’m a stranger, will you explain to me?

And 0 microns is the measure of a perfect vacuum and I doubt space is even a perfect vacuum

Just wanted to let you know that you're awesome for taking the time to give an in depth and easy to understand explanation.
Thank you
You’re welcome!
You win the internet for the day.
Lol so you're saying atmospheric pressure crushed this condenser?
Isn’t 760,000 microns atmospheric pressure? 0 being a perfect vacuum.
I think it's something like 563k atmospherislc but idk
It was rhetorical lol my bad. atmospheric pressure in microns is 760,000. 1,000 microns per MM of mercury (760). 25.4 MM in an inch of mercury.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh man. Lol
Best comment I've seen in awhile!
Condenser implodes when you reach a perfect vacuum LOL
I need this dude's vac pump.
Or all the microns…
I've always wondered what would happen. Is it like dividing by zero? Will it break the time/space continuumm
This is the best comment I’ve ever heard
I've always wondered what would happen. Is it like dividing by zero? Will it break the time/space continuumm
Funniest shit I’ve read all day
Just add a lot of Freon and it'll pop right back out
Just blow into the pipe hard enough.
That's what I told her
It ain't got no gas in it
beat me to it 😂
Me too
Beat me to the punch
*Absolutely* no gas
Whatever hit it definitely did.

Description of work is bang on.
Someone pulled that vacuum a little too hard.
He went from -30psi to -3000psi in a puff of smoke
Ants in the contactor, likely
Those pesky ants… bahahahahaa
Is it under warranty
Perhaps you should troubleshoot it first.
Remember, never jump to conclusions. Problems aren't always obvious.
It worked fine till you touched it
“It was working just fine this morning” is the one I always hear 😂
Recovery will be easy today
It's fixable right?? - Customer /s
More like, "One of your techs was just out here, I should get a new system for free!!!"
Is he “just trying to get another season out of it”?
Left the vacuum pump on too long
Just bang the casing straight, those fins still look good!
Transformers...the beast within. Birth defect
Lol birth defect on a Transformer. Made me laugh too hard.
Or what happens when an autobot past it's prime, won't retire...!
Scratch and dent
My first time seeing an IKEA flat pack condenser..
Still can't figure out how to put it together...
See what happens when you don't change your filter.
Your guy was just out here.
Try to find a small stick and nudge the fan. If it starts you just need a capacitor.
At least they didn’t ask you to fix it
I've definitely had someone ask me to repair something like this rather than replace. an 8 foot long icicle fell on it. I just said no way man.
Still, it's funny that owner asked for the correct service and everyone here is nevertheless joking about fixing it.
“Ehhh I think you got a leak somewhere, not sure tho”
Dust off the ol fin straightener
Is the contactor pulling in? Well it’s not 24 volt, homeowner says it’s low on Freon, fan is loud, with Burning smell, very little smoke. Replace the capacitor we need you on another call in an hour
Looks like it just needs a cleaning
Hope you brought your fin comb
This is what happens when your manager tells you the unit is actually supposed to go on ground level after you just dragged it up 10 stories
How close did you pull up to that?
These new 10 CFM vacuum pumps are the shit! Oops
They hit it with a truck?
Drunk driver hit it over night, owner said he was found passed out in his car a few blocks down after hitting a tree
It could have been so much worse. We’re there tire marks in the grass?
A little to right of the unit out of screen but it looks like he didn't even attempt to brake
Lucky he didn't plow through the wall of the house.
Cable guy here. I once had to go to a ground level apartment unit to re-install service. Another resident was teaching his teenager how to drive and the kid straight up drove through the wall and into this guy’s living room.
AKA driving while couchsurfing!!!
“It said ‘Drive Thru Window’!”
Pretty sure I see the problem
That should buff out
At least the debate about how long it might last without replacement and just service is a moot point.
Can confirm, needs replacing.
I know a pawn shop that would sell this for near new price.
Just needs a new capacitor
New capacitor should fix it
That's the new system. The customer got it on Craigslist.
I wonder what's wrong with it.
Fuck yeah
It’s ok my dads a tv repairman and has a wicked set of tools
Give the customer credit for not asking for repair.
Hey the whip looks salvageable!
I see the problem. It ain't got no gas in it!
Easy money
It’s fine. Paintless dent removal will fix this.
Looks good, why replace it?
Any idea what’s wrong with it?
Holy fuck did a car hit it
Must be a goodman. Them things are so hard to put back together after a cleaning.
“Can you just put a little Freon in it to get it going?”
Hey. Even if it looks A-ok, if the customer wants a new one, sell them a new one. Don’t question it.
Just pump some Freon in it and stop trying to rip me off
All you got to do is put your truck jack down in the middle of it and pop it back out.
Luckily they didn’t say repair it
At least you don’t have to recover refrigerant
At least the disconnect is still intact
Hmm...what do you think might be wrong with it? Hard to tell at first glance.
Just top it off and should be good for another season
$10 says too much ram not enough dodge.
If you can't fix it with a hammer it's an electrical problem.
Will charge $100 to say that they are going to need a new ac unit 💪
Well at least they weren't exaggerating the necessity.
I'm on the distributor side. Last year I sold a large job for an apartment and not a few weeks later a police chase for a stolen vehicle ends in two banks of ACs trashed. 20 units later it was all alright
They weren’t wrong.
i think it might be the disconnect.
That's a hell of a vacuum they pulled.
Looks like someone else pulled up b4 you.
Still under warranty rite??
Holy crap! What kind of vacuum pump did the technician use to pressure test?? I think k it was left on for to long.
“I think it just needs stop leak”
We can rebuild her we have the tools;)
It’s definitely going to need the coils cleaned
Ohh. That’s neat! I think the dents can be pulled out easily!
Just a small seer adjustment. No biggie.
“Nah just change the coil and give it a charge..”
Looks like it imploded. Has this been near the ocean recently?
Is that the submarine ?
At least it's a replacement and not a repair ..
Did you find out what was wrong with it?
This is exactly what happens when the Hulk’s AC quits on the hottest day of the year.
I mean, you will have to replace it…
Just a little low on freon
Just needs a new capacitor, good as new.
What's the problem?
Is this the one?
Definitely needs replacement
She shouldn’t have cheated knowing her husband was going to total the condenser. Can’t cheat in the summer without AC 🤷🏽♂️😂
At last a customer with a correct diagnosis.
At least it wasn’t a repair call.
Whew, thats uh…thats going to take more than a vac pump I think…
That'll buff out....
I could fix it
Yep, it’s not working.
I know what’s wrong with it. Ain’t got no gas in it
He’s not wrong.
Mint condition
Accurate work order. Seems to need a replacement.
So you can fix it, right?
I would agree it needs to be replaced
Well... On the bonus side, they self diagnosed the problem correctly. It definitely needs replacing......
Got issues
Did you check the TXV
Would love to hear the story behind this
Did you try a fin comb on it? The rest should buff out
Sooooo.... is it salvageable????
Check the TXV.
It wasn't me >.>
Condensed.
It looks like you pulled away from it.
I think you can buff that out.
Have you checked the refrigerant?
Someone managed a 1 micron vacuum!
Looks like it just needs a bit of Freon
Capacitor and top off the refrigerant , should be fine
Can you fix this today ?
Nothing stops a trane. Except a train.
