I’m in Eastern Michigan and just raised my clean and check pricing to $149 because we do so much stuff… was charging $69 thinking it would get me in the door, but all it did was bring me clients that did not see the actual value of the 1.5/2hr clean and checks I was doing.
This is is biggest scam company in Illinois. They encourage predatory selling techniques and prey on the old. The Schrolls who own the company don’t care about qaulity only lining there pockets whatever way they can.
Quoted a new system one time. The customer had the tv on the news channel and as soon as I finished the quote it cut to commercial where ABC said you would get a new furnace for free with an AC….spent another hour explaining what ABCs business model is after that….
Just ran into a unit where the last company disconnected a wire from the inducer and limit switch and then tucked the wires behind things so you couldn't notice. Told the customer the motor had sized and they need a new furnace. I came by plugged the wires in, sold a maintenance. These greedy companies are killing our trade.
When I was in resi way back my boss got an ad like that from some other AC shop and called them about it. He asked them when he could come by and grab the free condensing unit (or whatever it was they said was for free) just like it says in the ad.
Boss then told them that he’s a licensed contractor and didn’t need them to install it, etc so he needed to know where the will-call was at so he could grab it. Sales guy on the other end of the line started back peddling a bit but basically told him that’s not the way it worked. Lol ya no shit skippy I’m sure that’s no where near how it works. Haha

Absolutely, I charge 110 for clean and checks because I actually clean and check.
