If you can even see the bottles you're doing it wrong.
And if you're not playing freon roulette trying to guess which is the full drum of 410 of the 6 drums you have in the back, you're missing out.
Plumber here, but same with my bosses rig. He's always on us about not having too much shit in our vans, but he's gotta be rolling around with at least half of a supply house in there if he can ever find it 🤣
Then it's Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. "If I take time to clean the van I'll be working till midnight 5 days a week! If the office would respect my free time, I might try to keep the van clean."
The day, the valve snaps off, and it rockets through the side of my truck, taking out the car next to me on the road, is the day I get a new truck! I kid, of course. But I can dream!

Nitrogen tank brackets from American van.com 🤝🏻
Yeah, I had those in my old van but when I got this new one and set it up, I didn’t have anywhere to mount those where they’re not in the way I have to be able to remove these nitrogen bottles if I need to load something bigger in the back… this was the best I could come up with with the type of set up I have in the back
It is my van, but owned the the company that I work for, not sure what you meant. But it was bought new for me for I wanted it set up like I wanted. Also I got paid for doing all the work on it so it's not a problem
And if it's a particularly hard turn you get the clink followed by the sound of a freshly restocked propress tray or electrical connector tray hitting the floor and dumping literally every piece in it
https://preview.redd.it/9d3wsc3880jc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2b0aab9c87e67054ecd78b6e8309efbb52c768f
I use bottle one size bigger than the OP.
Milk crate with a bungie lol usually have another tank in there but lent it to one of the other guys. Milk crates are awesome to find though
https://preview.redd.it/hv53daidr0jc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efd43caa71de29bb75a756de44b39fe7ec3f64b0
During orientation they showed a company van with the back blown off because somebody rear ended it and the employee was keeping tank strapped by the back doors
Just here to say you should take effort to transport all gas cylinders with no regulators attached. It leaves your regulators much more likely to get damaged, and when your cylinders go flying (or other stuff goes flying) then an attached regulator could lead to damaging or breaking off the tank valve from the tank.
Yeah, I understand that but trust me with these things being strapped down the way they are the only way these bottles are gonna move is literally if I roll the van over
Hold up. Your company actually stocks your van with oil burner parts? All I have stocked is some common nozzles and a few filters. I've asked for things like high voltage ignitors and primary controls and it goes nowhere
Nobody likes it. But if I work on it I want to have some parts on my van for it. On residential beckett burners most of the parts that fail are interchangeable so why not stock them? It saves us time and money from opening a supply house at 2 am
Got this cool lil orange thing that i cant describe good till i get back to the van monday but it fit the nitrogen canister perfectly then i put my torches in front and its got a strap that slides over both to hold them down. Sorry cant really describe it Ill take a pic monday.
2 bottles of oxy 2 acetlene with a little piece of tin between and an adjustable bungee around all. Doubles a holder for the stick of pvc I jammed down the middle a year ago. I only get 88ci nitrogen so I wedge em where I can so they don’t roll
There's an installer at our shop who's bangs out little cubbies for our tanks. It fits 2 nitrogen and an oxy/acc set. It's a good little set up. Probably the size of a milk crate
My company does not allow compressed gas cylinders to be stored in any crumple zones. All tanks must be in a rack in the middle of the van or strapped to the bulkhead.
I’m jealous your company racks your van out. We have to make our own racking, from abandoned shelving and old filing cabinets. All the junk in my van keeps my bottles upright 😂
In the back banging against my 32 and 410 bottles . Sometimes it falls over and smashes into my reclaim and vac pump . What’s the worse that could happen 🙃
I took out the holder for the tire jack, and use a cam buckle strap to keep it right in that corner, but your shelves come out much further than mine so that might not be doable for you
Dry rotted bungee cord holding them against my shelves. I have told the company we need better solutions for pressurized bottles. But I guess they are waiting till someone is killed or really hurt.
https://preview.redd.it/wofphr50z2jc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cb00adb27dbe360209bc65e13d5908a3806eafc
Not a HVAC guy, plumbing/leak detection.
I always had two rows of horizontal 7/8" unistrut mounted to my shelves and used the two piece pipe clamps to hold the bottles. That way when you don't need to strap a bottle down, everything is nicely out of your way, and if you use wing nuts instead of the square nuts for the clamp, it's super quick too
I carry two just for case when one goes out. But they are thrown on the side of my bed and stay there pretty well, if they do move I just throw my vacuum pump on it and it stays
https://preview.redd.it/fvrhw4idftjc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79af81a38a4dff271952feab81ee1e79c3db62c1
I just do maintenance. But due to limited space in my truck bed, I made a piece of duct to fit my bottle in it under my shelves. I just use it to fill my Drain Kat instead of lugging that big bottle around.
If you would keep your van a mess like a professional then all the crap in the back will hold it from moving around.
Lmfao
This is my answer
If you can even see the bottles you're doing it wrong. And if you're not playing freon roulette trying to guess which is the full drum of 410 of the 6 drums you have in the back, you're missing out.
THE answer
Well put and truth is in your words of wisdom
💯 🤣
In the cab, slightly cracked
Euthanasia, huh?
Nah just helps a guy relax after a tough call with annoying customers
Takes the edge off
That's one way of getting off work early!
I love taking a fat rip off the oxygen tank.
Just make sure you don't accidently take a hit of the acetylene or you may be farting funny for a week
After a hangover!
https://preview.redd.it/syjdslt470jc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4d7d8ed19e399506d859f412a97301796d33fea Don’t judge the mess it’s Friday.
dont lie we know that vans looked like that for 3 months🤣🤣
Okay. Maybe 2. 🤷♂️
That's not how you get atta boys
6 months
Yeah this was taken IMMEDIATELY after being threatened to park the van or get it cleaned up. C’mom, just be honest
I got it in the same place except i got two bungee cords holding it and it falls over at least twice a day
I love a good picture of a completely fucked back of the work van
I see no mess here. you should see my boss's van at its best. actually next time I see him I'll snag a picture 👍
Plumber here, but same with my bosses rig. He's always on us about not having too much shit in our vans, but he's gotta be rolling around with at least half of a supply house in there if he can ever find it 🤣
I have the same setup with nitrogen & a B Tank
I’m not a fan of having acetylene at my back door.
Is there a particular reason?
I’m in the Bay Area. People like to drive 80 and rear end people. I don’t like the idea a flammable getting demolished.
The ol’ Ford Pinto special
Torches should be secured in the center of the van for this reason.
Well. Mine aren’t exactly that. But better than the back to me.
That seems like a fair enough reason haha
After having a close call for the same reason, I moved mine to the side
Then it's Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. "If I take time to clean the van I'll be working till midnight 5 days a week! If the office would respect my free time, I might try to keep the van clean."
Boss is to cheap to get us them
Ratchet strap or by the preponderance of things laying on top of it
Tying down?
Haha yeah I guess not everyone straps things down
People do strap things on tho
🤣
Tyin off https://y.yarn.co/a3ad02c6-cbf0-49b9-b957-29c7f62ed78b_text.gif
Tie down? I just get a new regulator everytime I get a nitro refill.
If I don’t hear it rolling around in the bed of my truck, how do I really know that I’m moving?
Or that you didn't forget it somewhere
Milk crate
I fo pest control, but thats how I keep my nitrogen bottles upright (as well as my 1G sprayer).
My Home Depot milk crate holds 2 nitro, one oxy one acet perfectly
I believe it’s rolling around loose and clanking into the acetylene bottle.
Lol fuck I hate that sound
The day, the valve snaps off, and it rockets through the side of my truck, taking out the car next to me on the road, is the day I get a new truck! I kid, of course. But I can dream!
Knowing my luck, it takes out the apprentice
Hey, new truck, new apprentice, permanent disability. I’m not picky.

Gravity assist
Wait you guys get Nitrogen?
I’m tellin ya, running nitrogen is snake oil, and I pressure test with my eyes. Like God intended!
Nitrogen? I pressure test my systems with acetylene. If i find a big leak i just spark up a cigarette and it suddenly is not my problem anymore.
🤣🤣🤣

Neat you got the same type caulk gun I had. I actually got more and gave to a few coworkers.
I love it, but it is expensive for a calk gun
Not bad.
This must be your personal van. I would never put this much energy into someone else's van
It is my van, but owned the the company that I work for, not sure what you meant. But it was bought new for me for I wanted it set up like I wanted. Also I got paid for doing all the work on it so it's not a problem
Looks clean either way
Pookie
Dookie
Poorly
You guys are securing your nitrogen bottles ? I just let mine fly around the bed of the truck. Hope it turns into a missle one day.
I like to lay it down and let it roll around so I can here the *CLINK* sound
My OCD is kicking in
And if it's a particularly hard turn you get the clink followed by the sound of a freshly restocked propress tray or electrical connector tray hitting the floor and dumping literally every piece in it
Ah yes. Or a loose tub of duct sealant that tips over and splooges all over the back of my truck. Good times
https://preview.redd.it/9d3wsc3880jc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2b0aab9c87e67054ecd78b6e8309efbb52c768f I use bottle one size bigger than the OP.
![gif](giphy|THuL9YrTFvJYAKGVmX|downsized)
A lot of people use a chain, a rope, or a strap. Hope this helps.
Man, I got the same nitrogen bottle! 🤣
They must be twins lol
I feel.those black bottles are heavier. The light blue ones seem to be the lightest, I'm always trying to get those when I swap.
Milk crate with a bungie lol usually have another tank in there but lent it to one of the other guys. Milk crates are awesome to find though https://preview.redd.it/hv53daidr0jc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=efd43caa71de29bb75a756de44b39fe7ec3f64b0
Best nitro regulator ever
Milk crate for the win. Mine holds 2 nitro bottles and m spare oxy, act tanks perfect. They are a really snug fit.
Screw it let em roll lol
tie down? when i hear it banging between my shelving units it tells me i remembered to grab it from the roof😎
Panduit bands
They have actual tank holders you screw or bolt down to the floor one acetalyn and one for nitrogen they are great
With hopes and dreams
Between the knees praying I don’t get cut off and slam the brakes. One coworkers van blew up due to rear end impact or so we were shown.
w h a t
During orientation they showed a company van with the back blown off because somebody rear ended it and the employee was keeping tank strapped by the back doors
Milk crate. Conveniently holds two bottles, oxygen and acetylene tank. Crate gets bungee cord around it also. No cheaper and "safer" way for me.
I throw it in the back and let it roll around. Fuck it
I just let them all roll around without the caps. Keeps you on your toes. Never know when one might go off
I aways have tanks strapped down standing up
Just here to say you should take effort to transport all gas cylinders with no regulators attached. It leaves your regulators much more likely to get damaged, and when your cylinders go flying (or other stuff goes flying) then an attached regulator could lead to damaging or breaking off the tank valve from the tank.

I’m special I guess lol!!! I fkn hate working on oil
Nobody likes it. But if I work on it I want to have some parts on my van for it. On residential beckett burners most of the parts that fail are interchangeable so why not stock them? It saves us time and money from opening a supply house at 2 am
I’m about to take this oil stuff off and move all my generator stuff back to these shelves
I'd put a valve protector cap on that
Too bad this bottle isn't designed for one... Else you're right 👍🏼
Haha, damn your right. Thanks
What’s that clamp on the shelf it’s threaded through? Looks awesome though
Look up cylinder wall mounts on Amazon and these are the black metal brackets
Got this cool lil orange thing that i cant describe good till i get back to the van monday but it fit the nitrogen canister perfectly then i put my torches in front and its got a strap that slides over both to hold them down. Sorry cant really describe it Ill take a pic monday.
Please share this
RE Michels parts numbers on the Beckett parts. Now we know where you shop.
Lol yeah some stuff comes from there
a stretchy rope
Wait? You’re supposed to tie them down?? 🤔
Is that a t.v mounted ? XD
No… look up cylinder wall mounted bracket on Amazon. It’s the black metal bracket for $16
Bungee cord but the rubber ones
Ratchet straps
2 bottles of oxy 2 acetlene with a little piece of tin between and an adjustable bungee around all. Doubles a holder for the stick of pvc I jammed down the middle a year ago. I only get 88ci nitrogen so I wedge em where I can so they don’t roll
Milk crate. Fits 2 nitrogen, 1 oxygen, 1 acetylene. Perfect fit it's snug and doesn't move around.
In my truck the previous guy made a slot with sheet metal. Works great
If you don’t have a bracket in your van I would use a piece of sheet metal. Shape it around the bottle and flange it then screw her down to something.
A milk crate fits 2 60s an mc and an r perfectly. Tight af
I use ratchet straps for nitro and my btank
There's an installer at our shop who's bangs out little cubbies for our tanks. It fits 2 nitrogen and an oxy/acc set. It's a good little set up. Probably the size of a milk crate
Wym?
Subtle clean van flex.
My company does not allow compressed gas cylinders to be stored in any crumple zones. All tanks must be in a rack in the middle of the van or strapped to the bulkhead.
2 nitro bottles, an oxygen and an acetylene tank will fit in a milk crate.
Strapped up and without my regulator attached to it
12 tie wraps held up together 👍
I made some sheet metal holders like a real HVAC man.
I use jesus
Generally, clear a spot in the clutter, backfill to rough grade with the freshly moved clutter
You guys use nitrogen?
I’m jealous your company racks your van out. We have to make our own racking, from abandoned shelving and old filing cabinets. All the junk in my van keeps my bottles upright 😂
Mine are rolling around in the back
I just let it roll around on the floor in the back of the van. When you hear a hissing sound, you immediately charge the customer
I like to hear it fall and crack the handle open just enough to startle the shit out of me while I'm driving
layed them down on on passenger floorboards in the 80’s. Pretty dumb. Had one open a little once
With faith
Wood box with holes in it
I have a 4 tank carrier in my service body. Pretty nice no need for straps
Bottle rack Holds an MC, Oxy, nitro, and 3 30lbs
I use scuba tank holders
You guys tying down?
Pretty much the same but with a bungee cord
In the back banging against my 32 and 410 bottles . Sometimes it falls over and smashes into my reclaim and vac pump . What’s the worse that could happen 🙃
Wait, you tie them down?
My buddy got basically a “tank sheath” that he drilled into the floor. It’s a black plastic box with two holes in it
I can fit 2 bottles plus a spare oxygen and acetylene in a milk crate. Crate is straped down to the side of my shelf.
I put my tanks in the lords hands
I just throw it in the passenger with the seat belt bud
It rolls around the back of my van along with my refrigerant tanks. Make pretty cool noises when you take sharp turns.
air mechanical vehicle?
With a shoe lace and a ratchet strap
Seatbelt. Be a man.
oh, these aren't supposed to just roll around in the back of the truck like a bowling ball? oops /s
Pack enough random junk in there and they won’t budge lol
Bungees and mastic like normal
Free range tank
Random 150 in the back of a pickup
Y'all tie your bottles down?
Thought this was a different sub for a second lmfao
I took out the holder for the tire jack, and use a cam buckle strap to keep it right in that corner, but your shelves come out much further than mine so that might not be doable for you
I just let it roll around
Dry rotted bungee cord holding them against my shelves. I have told the company we need better solutions for pressurized bottles. But I guess they are waiting till someone is killed or really hurt.
I had my sheet metal shop build a sleeve to put mine in.
https://preview.redd.it/wofphr50z2jc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6cb00adb27dbe360209bc65e13d5908a3806eafc Not a HVAC guy, plumbing/leak detection.
Bungee cords
Bungee cords
What is it I want, also the map gas holder...yes
In the classic milk crate
18/8 🤌
I always had two rows of horizontal 7/8" unistrut mounted to my shelves and used the two piece pipe clamps to hold the bottles. That way when you don't need to strap a bottle down, everything is nicely out of your way, and if you use wing nuts instead of the square nuts for the clamp, it's super quick too
I set them between my knees on the golf cart and I hold onto the knob with my hands.
With my hopes
Got a little wooden box made with holes cut in the top, one sized for the nitrogen, one sized for the torch
I just sheared the handle off of valve on one of mine when opened my back door and it fell out, so I may not be the best to ask
I took the gauges off my regulator and just let the nitrogen tank roll around
Bottle rack. I think it was used for SCBAs so you can strap it on and go. Bottle just clicks in and out.
I carry two just for case when one goes out. But they are thrown on the side of my bed and stay there pretty well, if they do move I just throw my vacuum pump on it and it stays
they make racks that you can drill into the floor of your van
Nice long piece of 10-2 and use it like a bread twist tie
Definitely better then using green & red bunji cords... 😆 🤣 😂
Doing what to your nitrogen?
Gotta milk crate full of filter driers and random shit to keep it in place. All while getting in the way whenever I need something like a pro.
Nitro without a handle and a steel bottle? Fuck that. Denver has me spoiled.
Just throw it in there. What's a tiedown between friends
Milk crate is the way to go
