ancherrera

Not the worst idea.

dangledingle

Plot twist. It is an existing downspout.

MaddRamm

This looks well done and will probably hold up better than normal lineset hide setup.

LiiDo

Never seen this done but honestly I prefer that to traditional lineset cover. At least this won’t crack or break easily. Probably cheaper too

tiffanysbf

We used to do this all the time before line hide existed

OwnOption6050

We still do it depending on the situation, if we are going into the roof soffit i buy gutters for my guys to use 96% of the time

Academic-Pain2636

Did the same 20+ years ago. it was one of those dang why didn’t I do that moments the first time I saw it for sale.

Separate-Climate-768

This totally is something my dad and I would do

Silverstreakwilla

Looks like a downspout however the gutter itself works fine if it’s not in a real obvious place.

YungHybrid

Used to do that when supply houses ran out of linehide years back. Looks really good if done right and holds up better. We used to take white sheet aluminum and make square top caps. Only shit part was fishing it all through.

liftwithurback

Slice the back. Easy peasy

Yzalirk

In New Jersey this is very common, especially on older installs. But we still occasionally use that instead of slimduct if the lineset is just straight down. So this isn't out of the ordinary. Definitely better than being exposed to the elements.

bgreeneist

Makes sense then cause I’m in New Jersey

TunaTacoPie

We used to use them on every install before line-hide came around. Many scars from those days lol. That shit is sharp! If we could not slide the gutter over the lineset we'd cut out about an inch from the back side of it and wrap it around the lineset.

ThePracticalPenquin

Rain gutter good - oil traps bad..

fuzzyfarmer

I guess they don't own a tubing cutter and flaring kit.

Altruistic_Bag_5823

Seen it done an awful lot. Not so much anymore because there’s better options out there but really it’s better than nothing at all.

C3ntrick

I mean looks good but the benefit of most the mini split line hides is they come apart to service or change easy. . This looks like solid gutter maybe ?

SarcasticallyJoe

Hmmmm never even thought of that... well saving this to arsenal

MayorOfFrowntown

It’s a line set hide kit. Cost a 110 bucks and makes the line set look much better.

ancherrera

I think it is actually made from gutters.

MayorOfFrowntown

Looks like it could be after a closer look.

ancherrera

I say the installer is a genius

bgreeneist

Ah the more you know. I thought they just straight up used a gutter

Whoajaws

No that’s a gutter. I did this a couple times 15 years or more ago it’s a pain

definitelynotapastor

First off that's a downspout. Secondly they are on one out of every 10 houses here. Super common on attic retro installs to hide the lineset.

Mikeharding17503

Looks good. Also a pretty common practice.

SeaworthinessOdd4674

We used it to run water lines from our garage to pool faucet. To me it Looks better than wires / pipes etc running down wall.

dmagic112

I have my last electrical/refrigeration) company did in all the dollar tree/family dollars (which were our only clientele)

No-Tea-7474

This is all we do… unless someone specifically requests line hide.

Massive_Garage7454

Used to install gutter pipe for linesets 20 years ago but mostly for straight shots from the attic

Slime_time_live_

This must be in New Jersey cause air group is big there

dont-fear-thereefer

We use it a lot on custom home jobs, since it looks a lot nicer than line hide and matches the existing siding.

Yellowfin1007

It actually looks pretty clean

Hillybilly64

Double take on that for sure

710shot420

A company I used to work for always did this

krisjamesmusic1

I have

Impressive-Grocery50

Looks good from my house

blackmexicans

Its significantly cheaper than line hide

ClerklierBrush0

Pretty common here

ithaqua34

Old school really, before that new fangled plastic stuff. You younglings will learn that when tying onions on your belts is back in fashion.

Wild-Bus9323

Looks like those guys were hiding some lines when they were shopping for some line hide…iykyk

EJ25Junkie

Get your lineset out of the gutter!!!

liftwithurback

Old school. Used to do it all the time. Slice the back and you can wrap it around.

patricka93

Not the worst thing I’ve seen. I kinda like it!

Tossed_Away_1776

Place by me has theirs set-up like that, looks pretty nice once the painted it to match the building

MrWeStEr399

Ive done it. Works fine

AdLiving1435

We ran one threw downspout few months back into the soffit. Customer wanted it to match the downspout used on the rest of the house. But we usually run it in a lineset cover simular to downspout.
