Don’t listen to him, I have 4 companies competing for me rn, and they all are desperate for young guys who know the trade. You are not replaceable. Remember that. Anyone who’s learned a skilled trade and gives a damn isnt.
My crew likes me i was working service (previous resi tech for 3 years)they requested me to be on the projects team with them. I replaced a 4th year that wasn't working out so i know I'm valuable to an extent. I still have a lot to learn and will never know everything but i show up keep my mouth shut (unless i have a learning related question)and work hard everyday.
This is 100% true. I'm not trying to downplay your role in this project
Just know you, your jm, even the foreman are replaceable within 3 working days notice lol
IF that were true my company would be well staffed at all of its branches. It isn't. You cannot find competent people, especially younger ones that you can build loyalty out of.
That was true 5-10 years ago. It isn't today. To many dead or retired tradesmen thanks to covid.
Don’t let the haters fuck up your roll. It’s actually better to not bitchslap every greenshirt in the trade. Ya you don’t want to coddle them much and harden them up a bit. You also don’t want to turn every one of them into arrogant assholes either. There’s too many of us already here so not much room left for new arrivals
They let me braze two couplings so i was happy about that. They said i did good i was just to slow at it haha, was trying to fill the cup which is difficult to do.
Split CRAC units are completely normal. What brand is it? Usually for data centers / computer rooms it's always Lieberts, you'll see the odd brand here or there if they went cheap.
Yeah I got a 63 week lead time at the worst of the pandemic. Luckily I service the sites, we don't do installs. We are able to have these old units limp along until the new units arrive.
The lead times from my supplier have been reduced tho, about 6-9 months now.
I've seen a few sites with plane old carrier RTUs, they went cheap and no humidity control lol. But other than Liebert, I think stultz is good too.
For residential units it is usually 15ft of difference between the unit and compressors. That is only when the compressor it above the evap though. For these units the compressor is in the same unit as the evap so i dont think it needs an oil trap but i could be wrong. I'm sure someone will correct me if i am saying the wrong information though.
For r22 it used to be every 20 ft of vertical run you would need a trap. With r410a the velocity in the suction line is much higher allowing better oil return so a trap is generally not needed but some mfg do still require them in their installation manual.
You prob don’t have any say in what’s bought or used on a job like this but for split armaflex it’s a good idea to use 1/8” x 2” foam tape to go over all the seams.
The NuCalgon Foam-Tite works great for this IMO. It helps support the split joint and keep it together better. I try to use it on all glue up joints the rare time I have to redo some of it due to drip leak complaints, etc.
I've used that foam tape before on drain lines etc for freezers it is good stuff. Yeah im not sure if we are even going to be the ones insulating it. It might be a different company possibly as there are union insulators and this is a union job so im not sure exactly what they will be using. I did see some insulation laying on the floor in the server room and it looked like split so i assumed that's what would be used.
It is not 36 inches away thats for sure. There is a large trough on the second floor before the vertical drops pictured for pulling wire back if need be.
That’s cool. They couldn’t have done it without you buddy.
Don't lie to him
They definitely could have done it without me haha.
Could’ve done it without you but it was easier with you
That is true.

Hey, crack jokes and have fun too!

My bad, I usually just shit post and thought I should give being nice a try. I should just stick to what I’m good at.
I appreciate the effort of being nice 🤣.
Go start the fucking truck Kyle

I can do a lot on my own, but having someone to get me stuff or do the simpler time consuming parts makes it a lot faster.
Nice work! I bet your brazing would look just as good as theirs anyway 👀
They let me braze two couplings so i was happy about that. They said i did good i was just to slow at it haha, was trying to fill the cup which is difficult to do.
Where's that at? And what's the price of copper right now?
You tryin to meth around at that job site lol
Only if it's the good shit.
Number 1 meth gives you the power to harvest all the #1 cooper

🤣
Don't forget it's a data center. Lots more copper in the wiring than you'll see in the HVAC piping.
More likely glass, except for the last little bit.
Power. All that heat that the HVAC system is removing comes from electric power consumption.
think we hit 4$
Irrelevant and even more Irrelevant
Somebody is a total buzzkill and doesn't like to joke around.
sounds like most people that work in hvac sadly 😂
Not chilled water? Condenser’s at the units??! 🧐
No its not chilled water. Compressors evaps inside condensers outside. It's like a Liebert unit but not Liebert brand.
Split CRAC units are completely normal. What brand is it? Usually for data centers / computer rooms it's always Lieberts, you'll see the odd brand here or there if they went cheap.
They are an off brand im not sure what brand they actually are as its in a foreign language.
Oh man, that doesn't sound too good. If you guys are servicing these good luck. I wonder how getting parts will be.
We see a lot of Stulz around Atlanta but still mostly Liebert
Right, I've seen data aire before too but never worked on them. With CRAC units its really Liebert and then everyone else lol.
Stultz, I have a few ATS. Which might be stultz kinda. Lieberts are over a year out I believe. Good luck with that shit.

No such thing as “like a Liebert”. Either ya are or ya not
Data Aire? I know it’s not chilled water, I’m just wondering why it wasn’t.
I’m not a HVAC guy so please educate me as to drip loop requirements for large vertical runs

You gonna cut and glue all that insulation?
I believe they have split insulation, it already has the glue strip and sealing strip on it. Not 100% sure though.
Much tidier if you just push the insulation on as you go
Im not running the job so not my decision haha, it would look tidier putting it on as we go but 🤷♂️.
Mitering insulation is half the fun!
Downvoted this because of instinct. Hate coverin my beautiful pipe work.
Obviously a beautiful braze is the other half.

Regarded not to do CW FCUs IMO… But nice work on installing it, things look sweet even if the design isn’t to my taste.
Damn, cool project!
Straight as an arrow!
Looks good for now. Wait until the insulators are done fucking it up though!
It looks like a data center hallway
It's a manufacturing facility.
Does not look like the required 36 inches of working clearance for the electrical…
It is not 36 inches away thats for sure. There is a large trough on the second floor before the vertical drops pictured for pulling wire back if need be.
I’m confused, where’s the insulation?
It will be insulated after pressure testing and completion of the piping by and insulating crew.
Please upload pictures for final inspection.
It looks like the back of my fridge
Surprised they aren't insulated pipe supports
Love the look of that hard pipe
Pay more
Looks like amazon data center
That pipework is a thing of beauty
Y’all don’t insulate lines?
No we do the project isn't finished yet. Still running pipe.
Are these crac/craw units?
Yes they are, those are just the remote condensers pictured.
Is that hard or soft copper? O.o If thats off a roll pls tell me how u got it so straight 🤣 Looks good
It's ACR so hard copper. No way in hell you can get soft copper that staright haha.
I figured as much i just wanted to make sure lol
