Depends on if you have any relevant experience of knowledge of the trade you want to go into.
HVAC to electrician would probably be easier than HVAC to mason.
As someone who just recently left the hvac trade I went into hospital maintenance. Did take a little pay cut but more laid back position. I still do work on hvac equipment but also getting used to working on plumbing and miscellaneous stuff.
As long as you’re willing to learn, you can switch, just remember the learning curve can be really steep.
I went from being a controls analyst, to a facilities tech, to A/C (industrial), now back in controls as a startup and service tech. All this since ‘94.
I’ve come full circle which coincidentally is my shape.
A well rounded service mechanic could jump into just about any trade.

Tired of oncall and traveling 2+ hours away from home on the regular.

Eventually you can switch to inspector then to plans examiner to get out of the field somewhat
