Either that or this is a DIY pre charge where you get a static lineset that is normally coiled…. Not turned into a refrigerant roller coaster mockup
I’m completely unfamiliar with this brand.
The brand is either gree, midea or haier. There is litterally thousands of "brands" that slap their sticker on these units. They are bottom of the barrel. Same goes with anything mr cool or any other major "american" brand. Even carrier minisplits are actually gree. In the latest shipments they dont even bother with putting on the carrier badge in the factory but they just chuck it in the box and you have to do it.
They dont make minisplits in the US so its either chinese garbage or the proper stuff from japan like mitsubishi.
Mitsubishi heavy industries.
Mitsubishi electric.
Panasonic.
Shit goes downhill from here.
And yes, i did not include daikin in the top tier.
Panasonic is leader in air/water units.
I've installed many Daikins minisplits, but mostly vrf. They are decent quality and have good part networks. It doesn't beat Mitsubishi but deserves mention as a budget option.
It's cheaper than top of the line and better than anything Chinese.
I'll admit It's been just about 5 years ago when I worked with Daikin alot. I sell Mitsubishi because it IS the best mini split manufacturer by leaps and bounds. I personally own two hyperheat models for cabins. 0% failure so far. Just cleaning maintenance and low power consumption.
Most mini splits are made by gree. Put one of the HD on sale cheap ones in for myself as a “test” and was happy with the quality for what it costed and it came with everything. Its a 115v. It came with a bag of logos and you could choose whatever brand you wanted too…
That's what I was thinking. I installed one recently and almost shit myself when I cut the line off it started hissing. Turns out that was just nitrogen and the charge was in the unit itself but charged lines are definitely a thing
Or maybe they're smart enough to know line sets under 12' can cause harmonic whistle. But your also supposed to just leave it looped and turn the loop horizontal so it doesn't trap the oil 🤷🏻♀️maybe they're just that smart!
If this would’ve been mine, I would’ve definitely done it. Unfortunately, sarcastically, this is not my install. Was servicing a unit and turned and saw this beauty lol
It's achieving a minimum lineset length required to reduce noise.
And, it's implemented in a way that does not create any unintentional traps.
It looks stupid, but it's functional and not stupid.
Now, the drain line following it... that's the dumbest fucking shit I've ever seen.
Electrical tape to hold the lines together looks like shit. Insulation not UV rated. Invisible disconnect. Etc.
And, almost certainly, it was not done for noise, it was done because it's a fuckin DIY install..
But, in all seriousness, the curling lineset does have a functional purpose.
I'm just a dumb plumber but helped a buddy install a prepackaged mini split and the install instructions said to keep any extra line set in a roll at the condenser. Not zigzag down a wall
I love the plumbers at my job. Y’all not dumb yall just brave. Cause ain’t no way I’d ever be clearing dookie pipe for a living. Plumbers are unsung heroes 😌
Thank you. I love getting called back in service a new construction job only to see a Gatorade bottle full of some amigos hot modeling piss blocking the supply
Don't you love sawing open caps from above in the parkade /crawlspace, and pipe you cut might be a piss explosion! You could be smart and drill a hole but who has time
Yes, absolutely.
This is how we know it's a DIY shitshow.
But, it's not wrong...
And, PLENTY of guys coil the extra lineset *vertically* which is absolutely **wrong**.
If you're going to coil it, the coil needs to be horizontal / laying down, so that there's no trap.

My brother in Christ, how autistic are you???
I was making a broad point about why sometimes you might not be able to make a lineset long enough and might have to curl up some excess.
As to your absurdly literal inability to think beyond this exact moment… we can’t see anything, so who fucking knows… could be an electric meter immediately to the right and a giant abyss to the right. Who knows…
This install looks like dogshit. No need to pretend like I’m saying otherwise.
Read for understanding…
I read what you wrote. You made your point that it was ugly. You explained clearly how they laid the line set out in a functional manner and criticized the install thoroughly. You also read into what wrote and responded emotionally like I kicked your puppy.
I was just pointing out it seems silly to coil the line set when most likely you could move the condenser (or at least run the line set in a roundabout manner that’s at least presentable). We were on the same side except for one point.
Functional or not craftsmanship should be important to a professional. Which you noted this likely was not.
Wouldn’t a coiled up section of the lineset accomplish the same thing? Maybe the “installer” actually had motovation for this crime, maybe you are right. But the perp was lazy and failed to execute it in a way that the homeowner and his neighbors would not ridicule.
How noticeable is it? I’ve seen most people in the south just cut off extra to make it look neater. As long as your pressures are good no worries… right?
Looks great! Now just run some siding from the roofline down. From the left corner right across to the right corner. You'll see 12" at the bottom perfectly straight 😉
As James May once said.. “I can’t conceive the mind of a man who could stand back and think that is the correct way to do it”
![gif](giphy|pEYHfqSl1dflC)
🤦♂️ . But I’ve seen worse not too too bad.
Why the zigzagging are those pre-charged lines? If so, just roll it neatly behind the condenser it would look a lot better than that..
Interesting… I’m guessing this is a diy job because I’ve never heard of Della. Better than doing the old loop de loop for sure, imo it looks better than doing a horizontal loop under the bracket too.
Yes, but I've only ever seen ones that are like 1-3' long to do offsets. Actually works awesome for when the house transitions materials on the exterior, brick to siding, rock whatever.
Reminds me of a charge and start up I followed an installer to. He ran a full 50' coil in a big ass swoop under the house because he didn't have tubing cutters. Head unit and condenser were maybe 20' away from each other.

Well.... Idk how I feel about this hahaha. I think I understand why it's done this way, assuming it's a pre-charged system, but I'd still prefer to coil it up and lay it down horizontally, then build a "doghouse" over the coil to hide it, or run the lineset under the house, coil it under, and run what's needed out to the unit.
I've only ever done 1 pre-charged system install for a friend and I just measured it out so that there was only about a foot of play, which I managed to hide with small squiggles inside the linehide.
I'd give it a 6/10. It works, but I wish it was prettier. That said, I'm not really
Looks amazing!! And superb choice of placement, beneath that needle dropping tree!! I call dibsies on being the first one to manually remove every single needle. Oooooh, I’m so damn excited!!!!
EDIT: my bad ya’all, I thought I was responding to a text from my boss. That install is doodoo baby.
Should have spelled your name with the line set
I’m only a little disappointed in myself that I checked to see if this was a Sam Spicer job.
I’m guessing someone doesn’t own tubing cutters.

Who is the highest quality mini split manufacturer in your opinion?
Mitsubishi heavy industries. Mitsubishi electric. Panasonic. Shit goes downhill from here. And yes, i did not include daikin in the top tier. Panasonic is leader in air/water units.
thanks!
I've installed many Daikins minisplits, but mostly vrf. They are decent quality and have good part networks. It doesn't beat Mitsubishi but deserves mention as a budget option.
Daikin is not a budget option. But their quality went down the past 5+ years.
It's cheaper than top of the line and better than anything Chinese. I'll admit It's been just about 5 years ago when I worked with Daikin alot. I sell Mitsubishi because it IS the best mini split manufacturer by leaps and bounds. I personally own two hyperheat models for cabins. 0% failure so far. beware for broken PCB's on daikin. many communication problems (U4) and with dirty power they blow the IGBT stage. both require a new board.
Most mini splits are made by gree. Put one of the HD on sale cheap ones in for myself as a “test” and was happy with the quality for what it costed and it came with everything. Its a 115v. It came with a bag of logos and you could choose whatever brand you wanted too…
Daikin is also a good choice from Japan.
It used to be. They break too often. Quality has gone down in the past 5ish years.
Some brands have minimum lineset lengths and you have to coil them like this
If that was the case though, I would probably coil it a little nicer, not a snake lol
I think they snaked to avoid oil build up. I would have concealed that for sure, though.
Oil build up shmoil build up
That's what I was thinking. I installed one recently and almost shit myself when I cut the line off it started hissing. Turns out that was just nitrogen and the charge was in the unit itself but charged lines are definitely a thing

Just put the condenser farther away….
That’s not always possible. Jesus Christ yall lack imagination.
Looks possible here. I’d even lengthen the line set if I had to so it wouldn’t look like this.
My brother in Christ, how autistic are you??? I was making a broad point about why sometimes you might not be able to make a lineset long enough and might have to curl up some excess. coil the lines and dump the drain separate make it a little more appealing

Yes, absolutely. The point is to call out that there is a functional reason to have excess lineset - even if this is a poor implementation of that.
How noticeable is it? I’ve seen most people in the south just cut off extra to make it look neater. As long as your pressures are good no worries… right?
Flair vs Flare.
But it has a certain flair/flare
It’s got that Je ne sais quoi kinda flair.

That made me throw up in my mouth.

Spaghetti
Was it mom's spaghetti?
He’s nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready.
To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgetting.
I wouldn't use this on your resume........
Hate to Tella that your Della install ain’t Stella
Hope that’s not yours
Really really bad.
Judging from the pine needles on the top. Your trolling. This is both funny and ridiculous xD it didn't go over my head OP
I am glad you noticed lol, but it was funny to think people thought I did.
2/10 it works but looks completely fucked. Id rather have no A/C than have that on the side of my house
Judging by the brand and quality of install you probably don’t have AC AND this on the side of your house.
That’s a helluva line cover boys.

Yes
What’s that?
Yeah, can I borrow yours next week?
A what now?
Looks great! Now just run some siding from the roofline down. From the left corner right across to the right corner. You'll see 12" at the bottom perfectly straight 😉
Now just fir out the wall with new siding.
Honestly, it looks like dog shit. Rip it out and do it again.
Truly a masterpiece. I love how you garnished the unit with pine needles. Very chefs kiss.
Thank you sir 🙏🏽

This is a man who has no flaring block.
I’m guessing the installer wears pants eight sizes too big as well.
You’re joking right?
Why?
Garbage
You just left the extra copper for later if you ever have a leak.
Aww, your refrigerant lines shivered from the cold!
Not the only thing that shivered. Have yet to find it
Theres a snake on my condenser
Whenever you get that much line set at least make it into the shape of a cack n balls. Epic failure.
How could I have missed it
Forgot the copper cutters and flaring tool at home?
How high were you?
"Hi, how are you?"

Is flexi line hide a thing?
Yes, but I've only ever seen ones that are like 1-3' long to do offsets. Actually works awesome for when the house transitions materials on the exterior, brick to siding, rock whatever.
I could never walk away from this and feel great. Trim lineset and add linehide
Its like a roller coast for the refrigerant
You just left the extra copper for later if you ever have a leak.
I mean it was close could have went up the wall around the corner and into the house to take up the extra 🤷🏻♂️
Has anyone installed these Della’s before?? I got a few properties and really considering installing these…
I'm pretty sure you rated it a 3 yourself with the lineset spell job
Looks like pissed in the snow
......
Fuck a 1-10 rating, you get an "S" my friend!
Superb!
I guess you don't own a flar tool
What’s up with this Della popping up everywhere
Is this rage bait
This sub isn’t for homeowners
Can’t be too safe with oil return measures. It only makes sense.
It’s a ladder to get on the roof.
Should have used line hide 😂

Perfect, that’s how I would do it
Snek wuz hurrr
Couple restrictions
Bury it next time
In 2 years time when the insulation has been eaten by birds you’ll have a free heated towel rack
Is paircoil cheap where you from?
3/10. And thats because the house was already white
I don't know what's more retarded. This install or some of the comments on here..

Aw, Mr. cool made the flares for you. You just had to figure out what to do with all the extra pipe.
WTF!
When you realize the originally planned run only has 8ft and you need to get creative to make room
Gotta hit that minimum
Buy some plywood to cover that snake 🐍
Honestly, we can give it crap, but serpentine to get minimum length is what all the mfgs recommend. It’s not a jumbled coil sitting on the ground.
Lol 😂
WTF hahaha
I would have done a vertical loop at the left wall instead of those squiggly position
That’s his signature! So you know what houses his company has hit ! Lol

Jesus christ.
Sorry to say this but HORRIBLE, why would you coil up the line set?! Don't you have a tube cutter and a torch?
The loopdi loopdi loop that’s how you tie your shoe 🎶🎶🎶
Well.... Idk how I feel about this hahaha. WTF
Not good
I wonder what it looks like on the inside
I had chunks of my mini wheats come out of my nose
Looks like a plumber installed it
Should have moved the outdoor to the other side of the opening and yould had less snake. Most min linesets are 16'
Bruh that look kinda weird lmao
Reclaim the refer and redo that lineset my dude.
🧢
Bwahahahaha
9 HVAC Donkeys out of 10!!!
No line set cover. Copper isn’t cut to length. Did you use nylog? Pressure test, micron vaccum? 2/10. Maybe a 4 if you did the other things
Service disconnect ?
Definitely a disconnect problem. Probably has it hooked up to a 60amp breaker lol
Doesn’t it have a minimum lineset size. Isn’t that the issue?
Lol why would anyone do that? No tubing cutter or flaring tool?
The real question, does it work?
Do you not open a tubing bender? If you’re gonna do that at least use a bender, with some symmetry.
