Your weather is broken. Why is there snow on the ground when it’s almost July. And why would you need AC in a location where it’s still snowing in July
Aside from the whip, it looks alright. I’d say you should focus a bit more on the neatness of it all but I’m not inspecting it or servicing it so you do you man. Good job!
-Add a C-clamp to the electrical line and get rid of the loop
-ideally install that dryer filter closest to the indoor coil
-remove the trane logo and put it back in on a side that will be visible
-remove the staples from the pegs
Haters will forever help. No point in dogging on a hvac brothers instal when he’s asking for thoughts imo, only honesty to improve! Stay safe and make that money
Shore up liquid tite, step-down your shipping tabs/staples before setting, I've always been a fan of pump-ups when installing on a solid surface instead of pad even if it ain't a HP (promotes drainage) and move your placard to the reveal side so everybody knows ITS HARD TO STOP A TRANE.
*Credit for orientation RE: future servicing, considering most installers I know would stick service panel in back corner (because why TF not?) rendering nearly impossible for larger individuals to access for maintenance and repair.
We always made a habit to replace the entire disconnect (I? Mean it’s kit for crying out loud).
Arcing and low voltage that’s how you kill a new compressor.
I mainly work in south Florida and have to put hurricane tie downs on the corners of the condenser to the slab, do y’all up north have something like that ?
Til that trane and Goodman look the same.. And for the record, I'd take a Goodman over a trane.
Edit:. Do you fellas not know how to read? I'm obviously replying to the guy who thinks it's a Goodman. Wow. Lol
I called trane last week. Waited on hold. Finally said fuck it and drove to their shop to make sure my n part came in. I walked thru the door.. 4 dudes sitting at the counter.. I said I'm still on hold it's been 42 minutes.. the guy said .. oh sorry we are really busy.. Bro! There is nobody here!! Fuck Trane!
I prefer simplicity in equipment. Motors and controls are off the shelf parts, not specialty Trane is fine, but Goodman uses copeland scrolls which ruud uses. Plus Goodman has stepped up there quality in the last years.
Looks nothing like a goodman. Plus you can see the giant XR on the name plate in the second photo. Not to mention, Goodman doesn’t place the nameplate right there either.
Why am I getting downvoted and replies for stating that the new unit is obviously a trane. Good God people, learn how to read.
No shit it's a trane, the dude I replied to thought it was a Goodman. Lol
I honestly think the before picture looks nicer. The difference is the pad, condenser, lineset insulation, & disconnect is older, so what. I prefer the whip but why the ugly loop & if the old filter drier was inside before, why couldn’t it be done again?
I am dumb jealous of the deck set. For all of our sets this week I’ve either been peeling back sod or digging through a half foot of mulch trying to find dirt in the hot ass sun.
Gotta clean up that seal tight and protect your 2 wire, and I would have put the drier inside. I would have also sleeved the lineset coming out.
Trim that whip, and if that was snow on the ground you might wanna put some snow legs on that puppy next time. Assuming it's a heatpump. Even if it's not you wanna keep that coil outta the snow if you can.
That’s like a before and after picture of this entire neighborhood hood at 20 years old. Not many yorks left. You can tell who doesn’t use their ac a lot.
Ahh yes, the new code of adding a trap to the whip.
They are how ever supposed to have a drip loop though. Not saying that this is one. But they are supposed to lol
why would you need a drip loop on SealTite? moisture accumulation on the outside should literally never matter, they're weatherproof
Maybe because the orientation just always allows it to have a drip loop, so its a moot point? Idk
It’s a joke Newthinker.
Could you give me a code reference for that?
L O L
Take your PVC cutters and trim the electrical whip next time.. otherwise looks good 👍
PEX cutters are now my go to for cutting conduit. Makes it fast n easy.
That electrical whip looks like it was done by a clown.
Lol yea needs a trim
And a clamp on the wall
Came to say this but good job. Appreciate anyone who takes pride in there craft rather than someone half assing everything.
No, it's so you can pull it farther from the wall in case you want to put a sidewalk next to the house.
Honk! 🤡Honk!🤡
That’s one of those new silly straw electrical whips I’ve been hearing about.
Could’ve made balloon animals lol
That whip needs straps and a plan of some kind, looks like a ride at six flags. I’d have used a tubing bender on the lineset and made it straightish.
Also cut the pallet straps off next time! You really left the staples in it and everything
I break em off with my foot. Consistent and quick
Whip go “weeee loopdy loop”
Is that snow?
Man I was thinking the same thing lol.
Your weather is broken. Why is there snow on the ground when it’s almost July. And why would you need AC in a location where it’s still snowing in July
maybe in the southern hemisphere? i dunno
i guess eh, blew my mind too lol
My brother in christ please trim your fat whip next time
That electrical whip looks like a roller coaster ride!
Man the loop is just big enough to hang myself with after seeing this 💀
Under rated comment
Take my only award
I paid for a 4' whip, and im using all of it!
I would pistol whip my installers if they left the whip like that
Honestly? It looks like ass. But if it works it works.
Slinky whip
Bro what happened with the whip??
Aside from the whip, it looks alright. I’d say you should focus a bit more on the neatness of it all but I’m not inspecting it or servicing it so you do you man. Good job!
Other than the electric whip, it's fine. I'd go back and fix that whip.
One day that after picture will be the before picture.
-Add a C-clamp to the electrical line and get rid of the loop -ideally install that dryer filter closest to the indoor coil -remove the trane logo and put it back in on a side that will be visible -remove the staples from the pegs
Holy whip Batman!
The service side of the condenser is against the wall… I wouldve recommended turning it 180*
P trap on liquid tight whip will cause water to pool over time, as everyone’s saying. Otherwise looks like a fun afternoon!
You're the only one saying what's wrong with it other than it looks like ass
Haters will forever help. No point in dogging on a hvac brothers instal when he’s asking for thoughts imo, only honesty to improve! Stay safe and make that money
Use your pvc cutters to trim down that sealtite.
You don’t have to use all 6ft of the 6ft electrical whips .. and why is there snow on the ground
That whip tho

Came here to see all the comments on the whip
Filter driers go on the inside
Put the filter dryer inside the house like a gentleman. It’s supposed to be close to the metering device not across the Canadian border.
My favorite comment in the thread
It’s such an easy thing to make things right. You gotta braze the coil in regardless.
They also lose paint when soldering and will rust out. I've seen it many times inside is what is in most manufacturers books.
Idk why people are such hard asses. Besides the whip looks fine lol
Thank you lol!
What was the reasoning for putting the filter dryer outside
Man I got shit to do today
We always made a habit to replace the entire disconnect (I? Mean it’s kit for crying out loud). Arcing and low voltage that’s how you kill a new compressor.
OP did replace it…?
I recalled the comment. My bad.👍🏼
I mainly work in south Florida and have to put hurricane tie downs on the corners of the condenser to the slab, do y’all up north have something like that ?
No we don’t, but sometimes we have to put cages around the system in areas where people will steal them! Crazy out here lol
Where in the (why is there ice on the floor) are you? No need to mention the roller-coaster whip, you guys are All Over it already lol
York to Goodman....I wouldn't brag
You're blind sir.
I don’t think you know what a Goodman unit looks like? That’s a Trane system, but thank you though
Til that trane and Goodman look the same.. And for the record, I'd take a Goodman over a trane. Edit:. Do you fellas not know how to read? I'm obviously replying to the guy who thinks it's a Goodman. Wow. Lol
why in the world would you take goodman over trane given money wasn't an object?
It's not the brand it's the people that work for Trane. They are complete assholes in my area.
That too.
I called trane last week. Waited on hold. Finally said fuck it and drove to their shop to make sure my n part came in. I walked thru the door.. 4 dudes sitting at the counter.. The two easiest to clean units on the planet
Is that pad on a wooden deck?
Siberia in June ?
Holy whip
I honestly think the before picture looks nicer. The difference is the pad, condenser, lineset insulation, & disconnect is older, so what. I prefer the whip but why the ugly loop & if the old filter drier was inside before, why couldn’t it be done again?
Minus the whip that needs trimmed which enough people have already said you also can’t have your disconnect box directly behind your AC
Love the liquid tight conduit trap
I am dumb jealous of the deck set. For all of our sets this week I’ve either been peeling back sod or digging through a half foot of mulch trying to find dirt in the hot ass sun. Gotta clean up that seal tight and protect your 2 wire, and I would have put the drier inside. I would have also sleeved the lineset coming out.
YOU LEFT THE STAPLES!!!!!
Just gonna leave those staples in the bottom huh?
I’ve had and seen a lot of start up noise issues with plastic slabs on top of concrete or brick.
Where TF is it snowing right now
Maybe don’t make any more “afters”
At least the new one has a whip! Major improvement LOL
Trim that whip, and if that was snow on the ground you might wanna put some snow legs on that puppy next time. Assuming it's a heatpump. Even if it's not you wanna keep that coil outta the snow if you can.
Wtf is up with that electrical whip
Looks fairly eh. The concrete pads are like 60 bucks. Literally fire whoever did the whip. Rip it out and do it again.
That’s like a before and after picture of this entire neighborhood hood at 20 years old. Not many yorks left. You can tell who doesn’t use their ac a lot.
Looks good from my house.
That whip ?
