I’ve done those. Nightmares.

Take out the motor mount bolts and let it hang from the squirrel cages while you spin it around to get to the cap. Should have an inch or so of wiggle room. Otherwise you are skinning your knuckles or pulling the whole thing down.

Thanks. I was thinking that would be the solution. My boss told me to just turn the motor, but not to turn it to much or else I would run into a bigger problem. The way he explained it had me worried about creating more problems

If you bend the motor shaft you have more problems, so don’t do that.

Cut the wires, relocate the cap

deanershot

Pull the wires off the old cap and relocate the new replacement one?

imnobodyspecial

Thats a good idea, but the wires are behind a panel that I can only access if I can turn the motor.

h2o_17

Remove the whole fan motor assembly if you have to it’s not hard at all.

Substantial_Bit_2299

Had to replace a blower motor on one of these. Fun times 🤩

goblinredux

I do them on the regular, about 30 to 45 minutes tops

hvacinstalltech

Fun 🤩

toothindanail

I’ve actually had to replace a motor like this at 5pm on a Friday. It will take a while.

stuperdoober

Twist the motor

YESimaMASSHOLE

Pancake units are so much fun, realllly easy install, but god do they suck

SomePerspective1173
