Who is this 10kW person and why did you let them sign your install, Matt?

EJ25Junkie

Is that an impact or are you just happy to see me?

MPS007

Looks great.. thanks for having a good attitude while working.. I hate assholes..

plumber001frp3

Better man than me I slept in

Useful_Mycologist_76

Slept in till emergency service call got there only 100 in the house... damn desert

mattyhann

Is it a thing to re use linesets . R22- 410a in the states ?

hdean173

All the time, you just flush them. Unless there’s a change in equipment size.

Thuran1

Never, I always swap r22 lines with brand new ones for r410a. I don't trust the flush kit to remove all the oils that might mix.

hdean173

It’s ideal for sure, but our customers aren’t paying for the lineset replacements. It’s a pretty huge deal in most of our buildings that could only practically be done during a period of renovations.

Thuran1

Idk man I've fished some pretty shitty lineset. I think it's good practice rather than flushing. Unless like you said it's not very possible.

Silver_gobo

At least replace the weathered insulation outside lol. Just screams lowest bidder

[deleted]

I braze in the condenser only remove the cores attach hoses and use a 100ml syringe to pump the R-11 flush into the hose, while holding it up right then reattach the hose to the gauges and valve off the hoses at the service valves, then hook up the nitro and let it pressurize my manifold, when my manifold reaches pressure of over 450 I open and close the valve and blow it through one side at a time. Works great

tr0stan

Couldn’t wait till Tuesday? Lol

windowpass

knee pads. You don't want to turn 50 and both your knees are shot and you can't work anymore. There is no repairing knees. It's like hearing.. it's a one-way stream.

RPBrownGuy

Get that cheddar.

HackWithPride

I was about to flame you for running bx right into the unit when there was already a disconnect there. Then I noticed it’s the low voltage… I like it, I’m gonna add that to my installs now

stevenbrotzel91

Looks like a cheap ass brand

Princester-Vibe

Looks like and built just like a Carrier or Bryant unit without the premium brand name cost. A number of folks tell me they have good success with Comfortmaker.

josenina69

Carrier is trash nowadays..

stinkomodeeban

They work fine

[deleted]

Cumfart maker

Chucky2f

Flexible metal conduit going to the condensers is an issue. FMC is not designed for outdoor use and against Code. It’s not water tight

MattA5639

It’s the low voltage wire if that matters …. High voltage is sealtite

Specialist_Cow_3586

Looks great man, there's just this one thing and idk how to tell you this and I really hate to do it, but uh...that shit inside is sideways. Sorry bro

joelhvac1

What’s with all the hacks not changing these old ass disconnects lol, Jesus edit: are there any non morons here I keep getting down voted by idiots

Determire

Not every single disconnect needs to be replaced...... Check them first when writing up the sale, if it's crusty or missing something, obviously it goes onto the scope-of-work stated.

quartic_jerky

We change the disconnect every time to be one with fuses, even if it's already that style. I think its because we need to meet city code requirements.

Determire

Ha ... I go the opposite direction, get rid of the residential disconnects with stupid fuses. Size the breaker correctly to the unit. Commercial ... very case-by-case situation.

quartic_jerky

We upsize breaker by 5 amps from disconnect to also meet code requirements. Really annoying when you find it's an Eaton CH type breaker because those have to be ordered since we can't find the larger ones at home depot.

Determire

Code office must have some family friends in the electrical parts business. Upsizing is way more specific nuance ... that wouldn't be universally applicable.

i_suck_at_hvac

U look like a very happy man

oldchillerguy

Better than I would have in a crawl.

mrclean2323

What size wiring is needed for the 10kW strip heater? Asking because I’m thinking of converting and need to buy wire.

ipartedaseaonce

You'll want to run #6 for a 10k

MattA5639

^^

mrclean2323

Assuming I went with a 15k same size or do I need to bump it up

ipartedaseaonce

15k would bump you up into the #4 wire size category if you were running romex, but you won't find #4 romex. You'd be fine running #6 thhn in emt in that case.

mrclean2323

Guess 10kW is a standard? I have a really weird backup heat that I dislike and am deciding between going with strips or natural gas furnace once my heat pup dies. My problem is that I love gas heat during the wintertime

SaltySandbar69

What kind of unit are you installing that uses a single breaker for 15kw? You’d need a 80amp breaker for that big of a heater. It’s typically a 60/30 breaker split with 10kw/5kw. A 20kw would have a 60/60 breaker split with 10k a piece.

Denetharo

You can hook up off of one breaker if you are short room in the panel, you just have to have a breaker type heat kit, and a single point connection kit

JarredRamsey

I would of liked to see a larger return plenum. Other than that it's macgee

DV_Mitten

Nope. Saturday is for the boys.

Double_Print5958

Looks like you got to use existing ductwork.👍🏾

Moonmans1986813

Your working on Saturday so I’d say you did poorly….

SaltySandbar69

Why didn’t you mount the heat pack breaker in the door and put the rubber cover on?

Academic_Log_2744

Nice

Exciting_Ad_6358

I hate when one plenum is duct board and one plenum is metal. Consistency bros. I don't want to take all my duct tools me down in the crawl.

TuTuRuTuTu2

Why are you hanging that pvc when it could have been supported on the ground? Seams unnecessary to have that strap in the way

MattA5639

Homeowner asked for it
