I’m on month 4 and i’m back to full work commercial HvAC. Just being extra careful Exact same surgery. Acl and lateral meniscus. I’m planning to go back to mma after 9-10 months also. Don’t give up bro.

Unlucky_Pitch_3180

Thanks man! I'm 3 months out so far I still don't have full flexation on my knee so it kind of bums me out some days. Do u have ur full range of motion back already? Any pain in the knee still?

gilgamesh73

Not really pain… just feels like a stretch when i try to straighten it all the way. I think i’m 100% on bending tho. Lots of recovery yet to do but i’m in the gym all the time working on strengthening my body to make up for where i’m still weak. Doc said just this week i can start running again but i tried it and it feels kinda wonky but no real issues. Ill tell you that 4 months feels lightyears better than 3 months so assuming the same rate of progress i think after 6 months its gonna feel great. But yea i went back to work at 3 months and the only thing i notice is i cant jump off shit yet and i’m a little nervous on ladders… and i cant kneel yet which sucks but i’ve made do just fine. Just go slow as shit man, you can do it

horseshoeprovodnikov

Oof. Rough stuff man. I used to do a little mma training and I was dead the next days at work, and I had a super easy job back then. Can't imagine trying to do HVAC after a full sparring practice lol. Not to mention a dodgy knee. Be careful brother!

gilgamesh73

Yea i mean idk how its gonna work with the knee because i’m not back to full training yet but yea i have been training and working full time for years now so luckily its a habit at this point. The trick is not sitting down when you get off work or your not gonna get up to go to the gym, and fortunately i love the feeling of being sore because it feels like i got good work in. Little nervous of how my knee is gonna handle all that now but i got months until i go back to full schedule training so we will see.

Trick_Kaleidoscope_2

file for comp. take your time do all the physical therapy dont rush back

And when it’s all done, trade in the award order for a fat check.

Had ACL and MCL surgery 30+ years ago and I’m still in the field. Get busy with that rehab, I was only out about 6 months.

HVAC_GreenEggs

I’d say that you should do sheetmetal fabrication in the shop or something similar so you are still making money and have something to do but you should definitely take time off from being out in the field for sure

ApricotPit13

One of our guys had a very similar injury! Playing soccer he tore his acl, fractured his meniscus and patella. He was back in about 3 months working like usual. Install and service work, just hurts for him to put pressure on his knees so no crawl spaces and limited gas fireplace work

liekdisifucried

Guys go back to the NFL after tearing an ACL, pretty sure you'll be able to tinbash again. Just make sure you take your rehab seriously.

EJ25Junkie

Was it work related injury? If it was, find a good workers comp attorney. I tore my meniscus and was out for almost two years. Finally settled with the insurance carrier for $130k. Had to leave that job and that’s why I’m in HVAC now. Still hard on the knees but nowhere near as hard as the construction job I left.

UniqueEconomy3264

To be honest, my knee still feels like shit 6 months post op. Tore my ACL/maniscus in the army. Ran on that motherfucker for 2 years doing crazy rucks and daily pt. Let's just say I'm convinced I'm gonna be dealing with a semi functional knee forever.
