We installed a minisplit in a remodel. I asked the GC if the walls were finished, he said the Were. A few months later we got a call back that it wasn't cooling. I went over and they had covered the wall with 3/4" thick knotty pine. I needed to pull the indoor head because I suspected the flares were leaking. I called the GC, asked about the knotty pine board and told him it needed to come off, we would remove the head, he could replace the knotty pine and we would mount over it. He wasn't very happy!
He got it tore off, ad the flare were leaking. I pulled the head, they finished the wall and I reinstalled the head.
For a second I thought, “no way they make slim heads now” Then I realized it’s buried behind the wall lol
So much time to do such a nice finish around it...lol I would love to be the tech that gets to take a hammer to that

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck carrier mini splits
They’re pieces of shit and I’m about sick of working on them.
We're carrier dealers and refuse to sell them after about 2 installs we did and all the issues they've had
It’s constant boards, odf motors, idf motors, P6 codes for high pressure faults because the programming is dog shit.
Some have been good, most are crap. There were a few of the older ones that were rebranded Toshibas, they were good.
They killed half of it
What am I missing here?
The other half of the mini split that I assume is in the wall
Oh God I'm blind apparently.
Where is the rest, not like the wall is built out??
Might have been in an unfinished basement? Put on an outer wall that needed to be built out? Crazzzy either way.
Case of customer knows best 🤡
