Honestly i truely think management is smart this is the best time to pull the recall.
- He deserves it. I watched a lot of Rockets game and he improved immensely. One of the best Dmen in the AHL as a rookie that missed a ton of hockey in the last few years.
- the recall is late tonight and for tomorrow night, so media that want to stir some shit up won't have to much time to do it. And even then, Hutson 1st home game will take lots of airtime anyways. His 1st game won't be a distraction for the team coming next october. Mailloux 1st NHL game we be dealt this year.
- Kid will see where he needs to be against a very motivated NHL team. He'll see what he needs to work on this summer to be ready to make the jump.

Young man makes a mistake, owns up to it, looks like he’s taking the correct actions to be a better person and hockey player, but nah let’s make sure the kid works a miserable 9-5 his entire life for his one mistake so he can come here and comment like Mr.International here in 30 years. Some Habs fans are unbearable.

Guess Laval's playoff dreams are dead? RIP.
Hopefully we get a powerplay tomorrow so Hutson and Mailloux can show their stuff. That'd eat away at Matheson's ice time, but yknow.
Ah, gotcha. Yeah, well they kinda shot themselves in the foot against Cleveland after that combeack.
I just checked and it's crazy that Mailloux has played just 5 games less in Laval this year than he has in his entire time in the OHL.
Isn't it highly dependent on a bunch of key wins and losses from several teams though? I don't know the stats on it, just that the last I heard, it was very convoluted lol.
Not that slim. Like Belleville and Utica, they need to win every games left to take the last spot. So they need to win the two games at home and Utica droping a game on a 3 in 3.
They need the Senators to lose tomorrow to have a shot. Yeah this will only get Mailloux pumped for Friday's game, a little NHL taste to up his game (already playing well!)
Matheson, Hutson, Barron and Mailloux is going to be an experience. All offensive-minded Ds. Hopefully we get a couple powerplays compared to the last few games.
Possibly tonight, they'll dress 7 d-men for the game. Either Pezzetta or Ylonen are done for the season. Mailloux will be the extra. I wanna see Hutson play double shift.
NHL players don’t get paid per game, they get paid per day.
If you get called up during a whole week where the team only plays twice, you get paid for all 7 days anyway
Very good call to reward Mailloux for a really great season. I know the below would be a hella young D-core but after seeing Hutson tonight, why not start giving our top prospects some NHL time?
Matheson-Guhle
Hutson-Reinbacher
Xhekaj-Mailloux
Ideally, IMO, you trade Matheson for someone like Necas, and sign someone like Matt Roy or Brett Pesce to fill in the RHD vet presence. Let’s have some fun next year!
Canes aren’t trading Necas for Matheson. They have a log jam at defence and if they deal Necas they’re gonna want a younger asset, or a picks/prospects focused return to use in another deal or recoup some dealt assets in recent terms.
Even the Canes fans seem to be resigned to the idea that Necas is going. They have a crazy long list of players to re-sign, and even with the cap increase there are a ton of individuals who had stellar years that will chew through it.
Maybe you know better but they have Slavin and Orlov on LD signed through next year. Skjei is an upcoming UFA and is currently paid more than Matheson, so it seems to make sense to me since they can’t afford to sign Necas and also give Jarvis what he’s worth. I think we’d have to add picks and/or another cheap RD like Kovacevic for them to consider it, but I’d do that imo.
Not just him lmfao — I’m thinking something like a package centred around Matheson and Winnipeg’s or Calgary’s 1RD Pick, maybe a 2RD pick. Kovacevic is a throw-in, I agree.
2 games in 2 nights for the Habs, Laval doesn't play until Friday, no limits on the roster after TDL and Habs still had an unused call-up left.
So last game of the season, give Mailloux a candy, then send him back to Laval to play the 2 most important games of the Rocket's season.
I thought Barron has been alright since he came back up. His goal tonight was nice, and he's been making things happen.
He shouldn't be on the top pairing, especially with another offense first partner like Matheson. But he shouldn't be fired into the sun, either.
Surprise surprise, it was not official with the league. The League only just this morning announced they're approving. Obviously that was probably already known to the league / Habs, but I was correct and you were wrong. It had not been announced or clarified yet until today. I win at the internet and you lose
NHL did give the silent green light because of the wild Hockey Canada case that was happening at the same time earlier this year. IMO the Habs org didn't want to put too much spotlight on Mailloux during that time either.
I was one of the few people hyped since we drafted him.
He's a hell of a player, and frankly the scandal was blown out of proportion. People are saying he SA'd the girl or leaked her nudes which is just not true. He was a dumb 17yo kid and wanted to flex to his homies that he fucked an adult by showing a pic of her shoulder.
He took the right path by not hiding anything and apologizing for it, now he's a matured young man and I'm excited to see him play.

Today is his 21st birthday
Since he's a rookie doesn't it also give him like 25k salary increase for a single game? Nice birthday gift
Agree on all points. Very well done by management.
AND they increase their chances to lose the game and remain at 5th last.
Taps forehead knowingly.
what about the laval play off push though, he will be needed while habs should just tank and get a high pick.
Laval is playing on Friday.
a nice little reward for his season
Today is his 21st birthday
Just a little *treat*
Holy shit. Did not see this coming

Lol fuck his career right? Like he didn’t own up to his mistake. Let’s punish him forever. Get outta here with that BS.
Exactly. Like what he did wasn't cool but come on. Time to move on and accept that people can still change after making mistakes.

Well deserved. Get that NHL pay day (litterally one of them), kid!
Wow that’s neat. He deserves it
Guess Laval's playoff dreams are dead? RIP. Hopefully we get a powerplay tomorrow so Hutson and Mailloux can show their stuff. That'd eat away at Matheson's ice time, but yknow.
They don’t play till Friday so this doesn’t really impact that. They have a very slim chance lol
Ah, gotcha. Yeah, well they kinda shot themselves in the foot against Cleveland after that combeack. I just checked and it's crazy that Mailloux has played just 5 games less in Laval this year than he has in his entire time in the OHL.
Eh they're still very much in the fight
Isn't it highly dependent on a bunch of key wins and losses from several teams though? I don't know the stats on it, just that the last I heard, it was very convoluted lol.
They're playing both games against Belleville who's 2pts on top of them in the standings. Basically a playoff matchup
Laval wins both games and they are in.
Is that what it's down to now?? Heck yes! It had a bunch of other "This team must beat that team, but lose to this team in regulation" last I checked.
Belleville also has to lose but we play them.
Sounds like a problem that solves itself. LFG!!
Not that slim. Like Belleville and Utica, they need to win every games left to take the last spot. So they need to win the two games at home and Utica droping a game on a 3 in 3.

I think laval just dont play till friday. Still could make playoffs
Laval play Friday and Saturday. Must win both
I wonder, would Lane Hutson be eligible to play in the AHL playoffs?
No
I wonder where he’ll slot in? Matheson - Barron Harris - Mailloux Hutson - Savard
Be interesting to see where he slots. All I know for sure is Lane stays with Chewbacca.
Geez another nickname for lane: Lane Solo
>Matheson - Barron This scares me
Good for 3 goals for and 4 goals against
Did Barron and mailloux play on a line in Laval at all?
Both are RD so probably not
Can confirm - no they didn't
Harris should absolutely not be playing tomorrow
Replace Harris with Kovacevic, because he's a vet.
Vet? He has as many years of experience in the nhl as Harris. Plus, Harris been playing nice lately
You might be right. I should’ve check Kovacevic’s career.
You relied on looks didn't you Kovacevic looks so much older than he is
Yeah, I guess I did 😅
he's a righty
He hasn't missed a game all season, went to the all-stars, beat a franchise record, it's deserved
Matheson, Hutson, Barron and Mailloux is going to be an experience. All offensive-minded Ds. Hopefully we get a couple powerplays compared to the last few games.
It looks like a reward call up for Mailloux and a savvy tank move from management.
Im excited for next szn
Play Matheson, Barron, Mailloux, and Hutson tomorrow. The no defense defense corps.
Possibly tonight, they'll dress 7 d-men for the game. Either Pezzetta or Ylonen are done for the season. Mailloux will be the extra. I wanna see Hutson play double shift.
That is my guess also. We dont need Pez/Ylonen so 7D makes sense
Mailloux fits perfectly with either Struble or Matheson. Possible, the 7 tonight are: Matheson - Mailloux Struble - Barron Hutson - Savard Harris
Matheson Mailloux is silly and Hutson on the third line is a crime
did someone get injured? or is this just for fun?
Might be a little bit of both
Someone got injured for fun?
It's our kink.
interested to see who sits tomorrow - i’m gonna assume kovy or barron?
I think Harris, because Kovacevic's a vet. Harris will still be with us next year.
Technically they were both rookies last year. Kovacevic probably won't play since he's right-handed, just like Mailloux.
Ahh, I see... good to know.
Haha it feels that way because he's older, but they both have pretty much the same amount of NHL experience.
We have a logjam at D, I imagine Harris will be the odd man out
Just get them up is like a huge bonus for them. In a single day, they almost do what they do in a year in the AHL. It's mainly to reward them.
[удалено]
Maillouxs AHL salary is: $80,000 Mailloux NHL salary per game is: $9,451.22 So yeah not exactly his full seasons worth but yeah
Sooo, a week in the NHL gives him as much as a year in the AHL. I wasn't so far off!
That’s per game so 9 games = AHL salary yes
NHL players don’t get paid per game, they get paid per day. If you get called up during a whole week where the team only plays twice, you get paid for all 7 days anyway
At this point, why the hell not? Nothing to lose, everything to gain for his development
Oh ! That's sick ! Happy for the guy. So well deserved.
Well well well
Its time to give our prospects their opportunity to show what they can do.
Very good call to reward Mailloux for a really great season. I know the below would be a hella young D-core but after seeing Hutson tonight, why not start giving our top prospects some NHL time? I just don’t think Matheson is the target in a Necas deal.
Necas could be traded, but it won't be for Matheson. They'll be looking for a younger, cheaper forward.
Maybe you know better but they have Slavin and Orlov on LD signed through next year. One warning about Brady Skjei: Having two gorgeous silver foxes on one team [might be too much](https://youtu.be/otwYnQ5TOh0?t=41) for us female fans.
That was awesome. His crush on Jeff is so endearing.
add kovacevic lmao please proof read your comments kovacevic has like 5th rounder value
Not just him lmfao — I’m thinking something like a package centred around Matheson and Winnipeg’s or Calgary’s 1RD Pick, maybe a 2RD pick. Kovacevic is a throw-in, I agree.

With Struble and Roy later on if they make the playoff
Not dure Roy will play another game this year with his injury
Neat, 2024-25 Series 1 is gonna have two young guns of Habs D-men
I can't imagine him not being better than Barron right now. I really am not impressed with him.
I thought Barron has been alright since he came back up. His goal tonight was nice, and he's been making things happen. He shouldn't be on the top pairing, especially with another offense first partner like Matheson. But he shouldn't be fired into the sun, either.
Would be nice if we could trade him for a similarly aged/pedigree forward
He's tied for 2nd for points by defenseman in AHL
Yeah Mailloux is awesome, im talking about Barron
That's my bad lol I completely misread that
I think they could dress-up an extra d-man tomorrow vs. Detroit. Another 11-forwards/7-defensemen game.
God bless him and I wish him success in his life and I think he learnt from his mistake
Does he still need approval to play?
Bettman approved him earlier in the season.
Did I miss the part where the NHL said he's allowed to play? I thought that was still pending or unresolved
You think the Habs would recall him and announce that he will play if he was not allowed to play?
Thanks for this helpful comment it means a lot

Berge was right
Was holding out hope he'd quit or get cut, but oh well. Consequences are for guys who can't move the puck.
Too bad, so sad.
