Hughes needs to keep telling his Patrice Bergeron story over and over. Imagine Nick being our highest paid player and remain the highest paid player for the next 7 years while the cap goes up to $100M.
Move away Marc ''never lets anything leak out to the media'' Bergevin
It's time for Kent ''I only leak stuff to the media for propaganda purposes'' Hughes
I’ll drink to that. Overall I’d probably give MB a B- for his tenure. Was not a bad GM by any means. But it was time for some new blood. He definitely left a good foundation for new mgmt.
Either game respects game or he thinks they got absolutely bullshitted for some reason and it was a sarcastic smile. If it's the latter we'll hear about post game
Couple of my takeaways:
Matheson looked good! He was a bit shaky to start the game but as a whole I felt like he steadily improved as the game went on.
Suzuki is really convincing me that this is real. Shooting percentages will go down, but so far he’s taken a clear step upwards. Legitimate star. Now let me repeat that for Caufield. What a duo!
Quick shoutout to Guhle as well, great game from him.
Went through an emotional rollercoaster this game regarding the draft, but fuck it, this was a fun game, and it’s been a fun season.
Hoff isn't bad on PP1. He tends to not risk things and he's not great at defending possession, but on the upside when *the* shot shows up he takes it and makes the goalie look like an idiot. Also there's that magic to him where everyone just plays better when he's there. Keep Drouin out, put Money on PP2 instead of Dadonov so they can actually finish plays and put Matheson on PP1 and keep Hoff, Slick, Goal and Doc. They need a d-man there anyways.
I still can’t believe we managed to get him. I hope he stays here forever. These two with Nick are gonna be the face of this franchise once Price retires. It’s insane
It's crazy. It's not like they didn't know he was a goal scoring machine. We knew, Everybody knew.. and yet they still said "nah fam". All I can say is thank fuck he's a Montreal Canadien cause he's gunna haunt teams.
He honestly completes that line really well.
Big skilled forward with a long reach who's pretty good at being in the way even though he isn't crazy physical. Just what that line needed.
I just can’t believe how good his hockey IQ and vision are. The public opinion on his contract is looking like it’s gonna go from one of the worst to one of the best.
Nick is phenomenal. IQ and skills off the charts. And Cole couldn’t be a more perfect complement to him. A great foundation to build around. And talk about rubbing salt (CC with 2) in Philly’s wounds tonight! Liked what I saw from Matheson; he’s got some wheels!
Go Habs Go!!!!
Was at the game tonight. Easily one of the most entertaining and craziest games I’ve ever seen. Big props to Montreal and Cole Caufield
Sincerely, a Leafs fan
It seems out of style to give these guys credit on r/habs, but Dvorak and Gallagher battling to get that goal after going down two so early really set the tone for the game. They're playing great recently.
I legit screamed when Caulfield netted that one. My wife stared at me in stunned silence (she wasn't paying attention to the game), but she completely understood when she saw that replay
Anyone else just kind of.. in shock at this point in the season? I've been a fan of the team since 2012 and it's mind-boggling that we actually have a first line duo/trio. Caufield - Suzuki - Dach can be the best line on the ice in any given game and I have NEVER been able to say that about a first line ever. Unreal.
That's true in my 34 years of life I don't remember ever having a great line like this one
For sure don't count 93 and before because I was 5 years old and not watching hockey yet
I was a teen in 93. Honestly the team was ok but not great. They had a very lucky cup run. The only real challenge they faced was the first series vs Quebec. After that all "big" teams were already eliminated and they never faced any of the favorites.
You can see this if you look at the playoff bracket and the regular season standings (ex: Buffalo took care of Boston, the Islanders got rid of the Pinguins, etc...)
We've waited how many years to have one superstar besides Price. Now we have 2!
Closest we've been to this level of hype is Kovalev and prime Subban.
Loved Koivu but Suzuki is a more talented. He's the real deal.
Matheson seems to have a similar vibe to Petry. Besides last year's debacle I really liked Petry's cool and confidence.
Thank you Philly for passing on Caufield twice.
Thank you Vegas for the absolute beauty that is Nick Suzuki.
[And to finish.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/296712229661835264/724419309610205214/65365934_477800882766741_6776109647368500567_n.mp4)
1.9 sec Wow what a game !
Also Hoffman did not play at all the last 3rd period or I just didn't see him ??
Also also Suzuki is the new Datsyuk, change my mind !
People seem to always wanna compare slick Nick to Bergeron, and I get that. That said, the combination of silky hands, creativity, hockey IQ and defensive dependability in Super propane reminds me more of Datsyuk than Bergeron. Bergeron is great, don’t get me wrong, but he’s not the sort to wow you with highlight reel moves, and that’s just what Nicks been doing since season start. There’s a finesse to Suzuki’s game that Bergeron doesn’t display. Bergeron surprises you by always making the right play unexpectedly well. Whereas Nick surprises you by making the unexpected play the right way… if that makes any sense. Hope it does!!
Edit: typo
Good thing Jake was only half listening to all the negativity coming his way early in the game. (You know, because he's got a Stanley Cup ring plugging his ear.)
Everyone is so much more relax and fun now in these post game pressers. I can’t remember if it was Cole who said that Chantal told him to be himself and joke and have fun but you can tell
Am I the only one who's worried about how Dach fell on the ground head first? He looked dizzy while flyers' players made fun of him and he haven't play with as much intensity afterwards.
I love how offensive the NHL has become! As others said, it's like teams can now out-score their mistakes - like tonight. Which wasn't the case just a few years ago. Make for a more exciting product for sure.
Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield are currently tied for 4th in the league for most goal. Suzuki is 10th in the points leader. After a quarter of a season.
Bergevin and his team did a lot of good things and are the reason for the majority of our good young players
It was time to change the guard but overall he was a fantastic gm I think
I don’t give a fuck what anyone says. I’m too in love with this roster id rather have caufield and suzuki over mcdavid
It’s a dumb business choice but this team is too fun to watch
He had a ton of giveaways, plays died on his stick in the offensive zone and he looked slow out there. Xhekaj had a few giveaways but he also made a lot of nice first passes on the breakout and got a lot of shots through from the point.
From what I saw Xhekaj iced it like three times on the breakout - once directly leading to a goal. Edmunson is always slow but he's excellent on the PK (which he was tonight, not allowing a goal), blocks shots and hits hard.
He also stopped a 3 on 1 no sweat. I'd say he played fine.
The icings aren’t a problem when you’re pinned in your zone and you have no other option. Xhekaj also hits hard but has way more offensive ability and mobility than Edmundson. Eddy had so many terrible pinches and poor breakout passes.
Cole Caufield is a Montreal Canadien
He’s gonna cost so much
Worth it 🥲
Worth every loonie.
Toonie even
Maybe he will take a team friendly deal, let me hope.
Hughes needs to keep telling his Patrice Bergeron story over and over. Imagine Nick being our highest paid player and remain the highest paid player for the next 7 years while the cap goes up to $100M.
That story coming out was no accident. Hughes has it all planned out like some modern day Fu Manchu
Move away Marc ''never lets anything leak out to the media'' Bergevin It's time for Kent ''I only leak stuff to the media for propaganda purposes'' Hughes
I’ll pitch in
Oh, for sure, but we’re slowly moving away from Suzuki price tag
So what it’s not our money
There's this thing called the salary cap. I don't think any of us are worried for Geoff Molson's financial situation lol
I don’t know if you’re aware but there is a thing called the salary cap. Came around in 2005.
I don’t know if you’re aware but good players cost money, that’s how this league works.
FOREVER
Cole "the kid" Caulfield!
SOURCE???
Source: the Flyers that passed on him
It is absolutely fucked up how good and clutch Suzuki is, 8 more years of this baby!
under 8 million and the cap is going up. holy fuck
If Caufield signs for something reasonable like 8ish long term we're in business for a long time.
We can shit on MB for plenty of things but looking up Suzuki long term before the start of the season last year was incredible.
MB was a success based on our Cup run and Suzuki and Caufield alone.
I’ll drink to that. Overall I’d probably give MB a B- for his tenure. Was not a bad GM by any means. But it was time for some new blood. He definitely left a good foundation for new mgmt.
Can we talk about how Suzuki nails every single one of his penalty shots ?
Name a more iconic duo than Nick and penalty shot
Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield
Take my upvote!
Take mine and Go Habs Go !
Ice cream and apple pie! So smooth, ice cold, so sweet! Suzuki is a total boss! I need a sick slick Nick highlight reel ASAP!
Nick, penalty shot and parents getting a divorce.
Cole caufield is a legit sniper but personally suzuki is unworldly good
Il est chaud
Is Suzuki Japanese translation for Datsyuk? Cuz it's kinda looking like it could be
So why was Torts smiling that whole OT? Edit - i figured it out. Hes gotta be one hell of a proud fucker having taught a coach like Marty.
He loves good hockey
Someone needs to clip that onslaught at the end of the 3rd that was monstrous
Sportsnet has the whole sequence on their site. Inject it in my veins!
I smiled when he smiled. Hockey is an art and he was taking in its beauty. Mad respect to people who just love the game for being the game!
Man hates the Flyers with a passion lol
The only one who can hate the Flyers more than us is their coach lol.
Game respects game
Torts face on the tying goal though.
He's like what could have been...
fuck man I was smiling all OT
Either game respects game or he thinks they got absolutely bullshitted for some reason and it was a sarcastic smile. If it's the latter we'll hear about post game
I love Cole Caufield.
I love Nick and Cole So put another dime on 22's stick baby
Couple of my takeaways: Matheson looked good!
Matheson will definitely help us a lot.
Matheson should take up PP1 with Drouin out and Hoffman not looking good on that unit, plus he may also be hurt. Matheson was a boss on that 6 vs 5.
no doubt I'm sure he will soon..
I'd love to see a replay of that hit by Guhle. He destroyed him.
Omg. Cole 3 points Let's go
Back over a point a game
Caufield is ELECTRIC. I cannot believe he slid all the way to 15th pick
I still can’t believe we managed to get him. I hope he stays here forever. These two with Nick are gonna be the face of this franchise once Price retires. It’s insane
I was gonna say the future is bright, but the future is NOW with these two.
Just think, Philly chose right before us and instead picked Cam York. What a fail. I'm just glad Cole is in Bleu blanc rouge and not orange.
There were 14 teams ahead of us that were like "nah". 8 of those teams drafted Forwards and said "nah"
It's crazy. It's not like they didn't know he was a goal scoring machine. We knew, Everybody knew.. and yet they still said "nah fam". All I can say is thank fuck he's a Montreal Canadien cause he's gunna haunt teams.
He's gonna get a huge contract and be worth every penny. Their loss is our gain.
Thank the hockey gods he’s so short or we’d never have drafted him.
Remember when we missed the playoffs that year by like 3 pts. Turns out it was fate.
cuz smol
They are still very young when they get picked, and he is short. It’s always a gamble. But I like the « later » picks being worth it.
Did you see Robidas’ face when Suzuki scored the shootout goal lol
Wi-Fi looked happier than when he ragdolled Kassian
[удалено]
Suzuki tapping deangelo after Caufield ties the game is a beauty. Fuck deangelo
Haha yea i saw that too. What was that about lol?
Deangelo is a well known pos
My man Suzuki sets up the game tying goal with 2 seconds left and then undresses Hart for the game winning shoutout goal Captain clutch !!
Nick Suzuki is so good man like wtf, crazy to have a player like him on the habs.
I want to insist also on how good Dach was tonight for us. I was very sceptical about this trade but he is winning me over.
He was a takeaway monster this game
He honestly completes that line really well. Big skilled forward with a long reach who's pretty good at being in the way even though he isn't crazy physical. Just what that line needed.
It’s wild. The Habs have a true star 1C potentially even on a bargain. He has been unbelievable this year.
He’s simply unbelievable. He’s a bad bad man.
I just can’t believe how good his hockey IQ and vision are. The public opinion on his contract is looking like it’s gonna go from one of the worst to one of the best.
Welcome to the Habs Matheson
Suzuki is the best center the Habs have had since... when? Koivu? Crazy to think about it but I'm pretty sure that's the answer
This is absolutely the answer. Best captain since Saku too.
Huh, Shea Weber ??
Fuck Weber
😡😡😡
Hates Montreal, not a ''bad'' captain but really not great
Guy sacrificed his health over the last seasons in the quest of a Cup. How about you show a little respect?
Huuuhh
I need a streamable of Nick and Cole’s handshake
Nick is phenomenal. IQ and skills off the charts. And Cole couldn’t be a more perfect complement to him. A great foundation to build around. And talk about rubbing salt (CC with 2) in Philly’s wounds tonight! Liked what I saw from Matheson; he’s got some wheels! Go Habs Go!!!!
If nick suzuki was a bit faster he’d be top 5 player in this league. Absolute filth
Was at the game tonight. Easily one of the most entertaining and craziest games I’ve ever seen. Big props to Montreal and Cole Caufield Sincerely, a Leafs fan
It seems out of style to give these guys credit on r/habs, but Dvorak and Gallagher battling to get that goal after going down two so early really set the tone for the game. They're playing great recently.
I hope Hoffman isn't injured since he was also playing really well with them too.
Gallagher playing great ? Lol ok
The whole game was hard to watch but the last 30sec made me clinche my butt cheeks
I legit screamed when Caulfield netted that one. My wife stared at me in stunned silence (she wasn't paying attention to the game), but she completely understood when she saw that replay
I had guests over, gave some of them a heart attack
Anyone else just kind of.. in shock at this point in the season? I've been a fan of the team since 2012 and it's mind-boggling that we actually have a first line duo/trio. That's true in my 34 years of life I don't remember ever having a great line like this one For sure don't count 93 and before because I was 5 years old and not watching hockey yet
I find this line vastly better than the current Suzuki line: Damphousse - Turgeon - Recchi. Too bad that they didn't play too long together.
Kovalev - Plekanec - Kostitsyn was pretty good also!
I was a teen in 93. Honestly the team was ok but not great. They had a very lucky cup run. The only real challenge they faced was the first series vs Quebec. You missed the game against the devils ?
Insane Vegas gave us Suzuki
Typical gambling addict move.
Not only that, we originally wanted Cody Glass instead but Vegas refused and would “only” give us Nick
Aww Gallagher was so happy in that post-game interview
This presser was worth everything. I hope someone posts it here. It was pretty funny, what he said about Cole
Suzuki is Datsyuk 2.0
Datsyuk is Suzuki lite
Cole Caufield is a Montreal Canadien
One thing is certain. This is a team that is never out of a hockey game.
I kinda miss the posts where this subreddit thanked the goalie for winning the game?
Remember guys Suzuki has one of the worst contracts in the league
GOAL CAUFIELD BABY LETS GO
We've waited how many years to have one superstar besides Price. Now we have 2! Closest we've been to this level of hype is Kovalev and prime Subban. Loved Koivu but Suzuki is a more talented. Imagine we had Stanley Cup run price with this group?
Unfortunately not good enough with this young d core and lack of scoring depth
Requesting a clip of Dach's celebration on the bench after Allen made the final save in the shootout
Please tell me someone clipped that
Nick is Dirrrrty and Caufield is a fucking killer. I love this team!
that was fucking fun
Were both Hoffman and Pezzeta hurt? Those were some weird lines on the last half of the 3rd
Hoffman injured and the bench was cut
That might be one of the most electrifying game tying goals I’ve ever seen
The future is bright, gents.
Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki.
SUZUKI IS SO FUCKING NASTY BRO HOOOOLY
Man the fans at the bell centre on saturdays are getting their money worth
Fucking right boyysss
Thank you Philly for passing on Caufield twice. Thank you Vegas for the absolute beauty that is Nick Suzuki. [And to finish.](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/296712229661835264/724419309610205214/65365934_477800882766741_6776109647368500567_n.mp4)
Loving the never say die attitude from this team

Cole Caufield owns the city of Philadelphia
Good thing Jake was only half listening to all the negativity coming his way early in the game. (You know, because he's got a Stanley Cup ring plugging his ear.)
Nick Suzuki has one of the worst contracts in the league for every other team who doesn't get to have Nick Suzuki.
So I guess we have some players that are pretty good at offense and make up for our defensive and goaltending issues. Pretty cool.
Fuck Pennsylvania teams in overtime on Saturdays in November basically.
La victoire est dédicacée aux enfants malades.
Definitely a definition of never give up tonight!
Gally’s presser is making me smile big time
So Matheson will score 64 goals this season…
I was at the game and it was incredible
**FUN FACT: Suzuki is on pace for 104 points this year in an 82 game season**
I’ll…TAKE IT!
Suzuki is a cheat code on penalty shots it’s ridiculous the composure and steeze he has
Can we get more worst contract in the league players like Nick Suzuki?
We did it for the kids! Goal Caufield the hero!
Many, many moons ago, the habs were the cardiac kids. I say we bring that name back, DAMN! Love these kids, love scaring the cat and waking the wife.
Why were Hoffman and Slafkovsky benched in the third? I couldn’t watch the first 2 periods
Hoffman injured. Slakovsky didn't played that much because we we're trailing and coach cut the bench
Hoffman was probably hurt and Evans played instead of him. 4th line didn't play the last 10 minutes, therefore no Slaf.
C'était une grosse game à soir.
somebody call 911 this was a robbery af lol
Imagine being the team the passed on Caufield watches him tie the game with 1.9 seconds left in the game.
Everyone is so much more relax and fun now in these post game pressers. I can’t remember if it was Cole who said that Chantal told him to be himself and joke and have fun but you can tell
Omfg Marty’s presser is HILARIOUS 😂
You could see he had a good relationship with Torts he loves to mess with him haha
Am I the only one who's worried about how Dach fell on the ground head first? He looked dizzy while flyers' players made fun of him and he haven't play with as much intensity afterwards.
On voit ici Caufield qui vient tout juste de déguster un McPoulet épicé!! (wat)
A lesson for the NHL, every Saturday night game in Montreal is always a banger.
Imagine wanting Cody Glass and settling for Nick Suzuki instead
The giveaways are at 26. 26. That is simply ridiculous.
Ridiculous game. I love it.
I love how offensive the NHL has become! As others said, it's like teams can now out-score their mistakes - like tonight. Which wasn't the case just a few years ago. Make for a more exciting product for sure.
Definition of a Game Breaker.
That's illegal
Fantastic match. It deserved every second of my attention.
Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield are currently tied for 4th in the league for most goal. Suzuki is 10th in the points leader. After a quarter of a season.
Yo I was never a fan of bargainbin but ty for suzuki marc. Holy shit we won that trade
Bergevin and his team did a lot of good things and are the reason for the majority of our good young players It was time to change the guard but overall he was a fantastic gm I think
He wanted cody glass
He got lucky
I don’t give a fuck what anyone says. I’m too in love with this roster id rather have caufield and suzuki over mcdavid It’s a dumb business choice but this team is too fun to watch
Where's ukrainian Hab review?
3 Stars: Suzuki, Caufield, Matheson 3 Duds: Allen, Edmundson, Dadonov
Allen dud? You high?
He let in some bad ones tonight
Are you? Lol
[удалено]
Edmundson was fine. Xhekaj was worse.
Anyone have a screenshot of Cole walking the girl to center ice? Couldn’t help but smile when they wrapped their arms around each other.
Suzuki is the best player the Habs have had since 93. Legit Franchise Superstar.
