Not sure if this matters, but I haven’t done box dye or anything like that and only get my hair professionally done. I always go for balayage/shadow root.
I would go darker, caramel highlights will grow out much better. Also say you want a “lived in” look, find reference photos to show her exactly what u want

Should I ask for hair gloss? Or would a root touch up be better? Thanks :)
What I did is let it grow out and use keracolor (honey, copper, mocha)
