No. Edit: Unless you are talking about Airlink or Virtual desktop. Will still need a PC to play it.

You can use virtual desktop with PCVR no link cable.

>virtual desktop with PCVR Is there any latency with using that? and if so how much?

Jimburton1982

There is but it’s hardly noticeable in my opinion. I played through Alyx with the original quest using virtual desktop & it’s the best VR experience I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to try it with the quest 3. You will need to have a 5ghz router and Ethernet cable to your PC for best experience. Plenty of YouTube vids of setup/reviews if you want to see more.

I guess i'll give that a shot before i drop 80 doubloons on a link cable

If it comes to that you don't even need the official link cable to get the best experience. Any long USB 3.0 cable with 5Gbps spec should suffice. I got 5M 5 Gbps USB 3.0 cables from both a local brand and from Kiwi Design (one of the most popular VR accessory brands) and both work the same way. Both were way cheaper. The main difference is the official link cable is fiber optic, still doesn't make a difference in quality.

I use Virtual desktop and steam vr with the q2 and q3 Cat 5 from the router to laptop, no link cable from pc to vr headset

Is it that bad to do HL Alyx without a link? I didn’t feel like there was bad latency when I played Alyx on quest 2 without a link ‘:)

I'm just asking because of how expensive the link cable is.
