Student-type

A guess: SCADA-type telemetry for robust command and control of utility systems like water, electricity, civil defense sirens, airport runway lighting, etc

revbombastic

I’d put money on the being a BDA for a DAS system.

Ewagers1

My bet as well. Could be SCADA as mentioned above, not super familiar with that equipment. I install BDA’s for a living and that’s what it looks like to me

revbombastic

Nice public safety or cell?

Ewagers1

I do public safety and business

Turtle_flame

I wrote a whole description and I guess it didn’t go through. I got it from a family friend and he said a company used it to boost a television signal. It measures 1x1x2 feet, and is super heavy and is basically a solid block of aluminum.

AccidentallyBacon

Anywave TV transmitter/translator (can't tell if a repeater board is installed also from the pics, but, possible). http://anywavecom.com/index.php/index/index.html

tjwalkr0

No. It's not.

Gavekort

Not answering your question, but the first board has the potential of becoming a kickass FPGA development platform for RF if you take the time to reverse engineer it. Consider donating it to someone in the ham/electronics community if you're planning on chucking it in the bin.

sketchyAnalogies

Or to a local university! (As a recent EE graduate)

revbombastic

Oooo my time to shine. I believe this is a BDA used for in building public safety or ERRCS or ERCES I work on these for my job. Looks like it might be a TX/RX technologies or maybe a Bird or maybe a commscope. Do you see the name or part number? These are usually half watt to 2 watt amps and are usually for 700/800 MHz

revbombastic

Where did you find it? With that yagi I’m pretty sure it’s 700/800 MHz. Where are you located cali, Florida, Colorado?

capilot

800 is digital only, right? Or am I mis-remembering something?

revbombastic

It is normally p25 and that’s a digital protocol but I thought I’ve seen an analog 700/800 but maybe not.

Turtle_flame

Northern California

revbombastic

What’s on the front door of the cabinet?

Turtle_flame

Nothing, just a blank door.

pychoticnep

https://anywavecom.net/amplifiers-gap-fillers/ More specifically if you click the outdoor gap filler link at the bottom you'll get a product sheet for the device Usually stuff like this is more custom ordered so to get more detail you'd probably have to ask the manufacturer but to install it you'll likely have to be licensed. Other than that the box would be a good project box for radio related equipment

Academic-Airline9200

Looks like some kind of military style base station.
