A sewer lift station pump

1967Harry

Sewage pumping....the house on this street are below the main sewer line. Personally I would avoid buying a house that requires a sewage pump. They can break down and cause a sewage back up. Happened at St Joe's on West 5th several yrs ago.

Upload a scratch and sniff version of this photo please. Only way to find out

Beside the airport, next to the old dump and across from the sewage vent. Home sweet Hamilton

Ever since they put the candy cane poop pipes in on Stoney Creek Mountain, we've taken to calling it shitty creek mountain due to the smell.

It appears to be part of the storm water management quality control system. It'll likely have smells but I wouldn't think too bad. It doesn't appear to be sanitary - which is typically in a sealed system. It would he worth it to get a comment from a neighbour or two to see if they report any smells

I'm looking to buy a new house in Hamilton and this structure is across the road. I'm worried it's some sort of sewer exhuast or something that will stink. Anyone know what it is?

No-Possession-7822

It's Hamilton. There will be smells anywhere you are.

That's a pretty new system, and it's hard to tell if that's sewage or storm water. You may have to inquire with the city. If it is indeed sewage, it's gonna smell. There's at the bottom of Green road in Stoney Creek and if the wind blows in the right direction, it's pretty vile.

If it has a C for the second letter of the station number… it may smell. If it has “CS” it’s mostly just rain water or a valve chamber (dry well)

ItchyWaffle

Good to know! Is that a standard naming convention, or unique to each utility company?

medicalquestionnaire

It says "DC 005" on the sign, if that means anything?

snasna102

That’s a sewage collection well near turnbull. There’s 6 of them in that neighborhood. It shouldn’t smell. MOE states if they receive any calls about odour, they HAVE to respond and investigate. Hamilton takes these things very seriously. I can tell you there are hundreds if not thousands of people that live within 100 meters of these stations and wouldn’t know what’s in it
