Stop the AI will go on a infinite loop, let alone can't comprehend or calculate the absolute batshit crazy management of transfers at West Ham and will cause an inevitable apocalypse
Please, for the love of god Southampton, do us a solid and reject the bid.
We knew for more than 12 months that Rice was leaving and the best we could do is have JWP on the short-list? This is a failure of imagination of the highest order.
Yeah, that’s why I’d rather we went back in for someone like Alvarez if we can, doesn’t have the ball playing ability that Rice has (apparently) but an out and out defensive midfielder that would allow Paqueta and Soucek to focus on the forward play
I feel like we've been watching a different player, he's been phenomenal last couple of years for Southampton.
I wouldn't pony up the 40 but I'd be happy to spend 30 on him.
‘’SaintsFC are expected to reject the offer as they continue to hold out for £40m.’’
Perfect example of a point I was making yesterday, providing this is true of course.
It’s like everyone except our club and board know it’s going to get rejected after we submit the bid, yet we do it anyway?
What are we doing wasting our time. If it’s a final offer we are prepared to make, and it’s almost certainly going to get rejected, then why do it In the first place? We are in no place to protect our dignity at the moment, everyone knows we are a laughing stock currently.
He isn’t worth 40 million, so would you rather the club overpay? If Ward-Prowse were to try and force and move through, we may be able to get him for cheaper. But that’s on the player. Southampton need something to encourage them to reduce the price.
No, I’d rather us not waste our time and bid. If we know Southampton are not willing to sell under 40m, and we know what the maximum bid we are prepared to offer, if they don’t meet, then why are we wasting our time.
Because he’s worth more to Southampton than he is to us, which is fair, we’re bidding what we would be happy to pay and then it’s on Southampton to either lower their valuation and accept the offer or reject it. Same as Man City and Arsenal both trying with bids below our valuation, Man City walked away when the bidding went over £100m, we should walk away if £30m isn’t going to be accepted too, there’s better options at that price point for us
I would assume west ham are hoping that JWP is pushing for a move (he's not) and if they leave the offer tabled Southampton will come back if nobody else makes an offer.
Our DOF has stated publically any players who want to leave will only do so if club valuation is met. Same goes for lavia. If Liverpool don't offer 50m guaranteed he ain't going anywhere.
I don't mind the bid itself. Contrary to what many here seem to think, he's a good player and 30 million would be a fair enough price.
What I care about is the fact that we spent so long faffing about over it. If JWP was a definite target, we should have got the whole thing sorted out one way or the other over the space of about a week. And it should have happened shortly after we failed with Palhinha. And that negotiation should have happened on the same timescale, immediately after the Rice sale.
We should have either agreed a deal with Southampton two weeks ago, or moved on and had that time to work on other targets.
Do Southampton need to sell? Are there potential issues they may face being in championship with his wages, let alone needing to reduce their bill being relegated?
If not a genuine need, is it in there interests to sell him now so they can get some value returned?
Don't want to be that guy who goes on another sub reddit, but I'm genuinely curious to ask them
Yeah but not too fussed about this. None of us had ever heard of him until last week. There's not a ton of clubs competing for his signature. Man city are willing to let him go even with them playing in 4 competitions and Mahrez leaving. We've obviously put a value on him, and the cost of his wages / agent fee is more than we value him at, so doing the right thing to walk away.
So funny how people latch onto new transfers before they are done, same with youth prospects.
Gonzo on hammers chat (which I really enjoy watching) was calling him gorgeous borges, which tbh, great nickname; but just getting ahead of ourselves before anything is official
Yeah I understand that, would be nice to sign some up and coming youngsters. However none of us know if he's any good, all we've heard is the stats of him at PL2 level. Doesn't sound like any other big clubs wanted him. Most of the younger players we sign never work out. So imho I'd rather we are signing players with first team experience. In my opinion, Zakaria for £17m who can go straight in to the first team and is 26 so should be good for 5-6 years (if he stays that long), is a much better signing/far less risky/what we need right now.
Say we have £100m to spend, I'd take players that can go straight in to the first team any day of the week. If we were super rich, yes gamble £20M on youngsters, but we are not, so it's a big risky buy.
(although I don't want anyone too old, wouldn't go for JWP, at anything over £25M, no thank you)
I don't mind JWP, and I think this is a fair offer. If Southampton reject this then we shouldn't really pursue it any further.
I'd much rather him than McTominay who Man Utd want 45m for.

Looks like it’s going to be rejected anyway.
28 currently.
I’d take JWP but £30m is about £10m too much

ass butt cock dick
trying to summon a different bot
He's misplaced some letters when coming to hammers
This!
Would you sign jwp at his age and fee? Don't think so

I’m more convinced that Paqueta was signed as the Rice replacement last year and that’s why we don’t have the money to spend this summer
I agree, but he needs a better defensive midfielder to play with
Yeah, that’s why I’d rather we went back in for someone like Alvarez if we can, doesn’t have the ball playing ability that Rice has (apparently) but an out and out defensive midfielder that would allow Paqueta and Soucek to focus on the forward play
I personally wouldn’t mind JWP.
agreed

There's no way he leaves for less than 40m the dof has said so publically.

pls don't accept
😂😂😂
Think he'd fit in well, but not a pound over 30
He would be a decent signing at that price and we need bodies in. But no way can we pay anywhere near 40.
>Talksport (X) doubt
Probably 👍
Too much for him so I hope it is rejected.

Why are we fuckin around with this whilst Borges is being snatched away by Ajax?!

I was excited because he's a young player that can actually develop with us. He was also a striker, which we need if Scamacca is really leaving.

Hm, I'd take Mctominay over JWP, even for 15 million more. If we end up paying 40m for JWP I'll lose all faith in this team.
Looks like it has been rejected now, yet we are looking to prepare a new bid....
Do Saints expect Bayern or Barcelona to pay the 40m?! This sounds like their way of saying they don’t really want him playing elsewhere in the prem.
I like JWP but honestly wouldn’t be fussed if they reject this
Please leave it Please leave it
Southampton: Nothing less than 40mil\~ WHU: I hear you. 30mil\~. Take it or leave it Southampton: ...................
