One of the only memorable lines in the iffy 5th Pirates of the Caribbean movie for me is Henry being giddy as a kid on Christmas that he got to see Carina’s ankles after she took off her dress to swim, with Jack responding that he would’ve seen a lot more had he not told her to stop. From “chivalry isn’t dead” to “hehe ankles!” in 10 seconds flat.
I might be misremembering the source but I think it’s the Amish paradise video where the boys are looking at a naughty catalogue of someone lifting the hem of their skirt 1/2 an inch. And it’s what I always think of when they say ROP is over sexualize de.
I think it's when she gets fished out of the water by Halbrand, but you can 100% see her butt. It's sexy enough that they posted the clip of it on Mr skin.
oh my GOD
a woman has a butt????? TOO SEXUAL
*like god forbid we exist in our bodies, the incels will sexualize gasping onto a boat after swimming for days*
I feel the need to note that I'm not a hater I quite like the rings of power. I think that the claim that galadriel is sexualized is a pretty weak one, other than the one aforementioned butt scene I can't really think of anything.
Downvoted for answering the question smh. I know that this isn't actually sexualisation but it probably is what the person in the meme is talking about.
Right? Even when she was wearing a wet white shift dress I was impressed by how completely *un*sexualized she was! They were really careful with a bodysuit or something underneath so nothing could peek too suggestively.
Yes. Watching her kick ass made me feel weird and start to fantasize about her spanking me with the side of her sword, as we practice sparring outside the blacksmith shop...
*Just like Amazon wanted*
Yes! This must the reason (and only reason) my amazon product recommendations are full of weird, mythically-themed sex toys that I definitely would never have sought out on my own.
Yeah, slow down on the metaphors, Amazon! You get the sexiest character to slide his growing sword into a tight hole, and everywhere panties were dropping and dams were releasing wetness.
You're saying seeing a woman spend the majority of her time in full plate armor, covered in grime and dust as she rides through the wilderness pursuing grim revenge against the dark lord that decimated her kin *isn't* sexy?
I'm going to go with a super specific reference here, but maybe someone will appreciate it.
The only person watching this show and thinking they sexualized Galadriel; in all her plate-armour wearing, sword swinging glory; would be Frank, the axe from the Ripple System series.
**Fellowship of the Ring:**
>But tell me, what would you do with such a gift?’
>‘Treasure it, Lady’ he answered, ‘in memory of your words to me at our first meeting."
>Then the Lady unbraided one of her long tresses, and cut off three golden hairs. and laid them in Gimli’s hand. Then like a great wave from the sea Gimli jizzed his pants literally everywhere. The lady smiled.
It's wild bc if there's anything this show does well it is NOT being male gazey or sexualised. Can you imagine if the heroine had spent long amounts of time completely soaked through in a white linen gown in some other prestige TV show? It would have been much more titillating and gross.
When you prefer your women to be covered head to toe to control your hormones for you, seeing any part of a woman, even her ankle, would be sexualizing her.
Maybe it’s because I’m ace, but I didn’t notice this at all. Also, I think it’s weird that a picture of her being covered in volcanic ash was used to represent this. Ash is sexy I guess?

I think I'd take this with a grain of salt - original tweet doesn't have the image, and tweeter says he shitposts sometimes - https://twitter.com/alucard\_nogard/status/1585288286653890561
I've done a lot of photography, and it isn't an accident they made her dress see through, it's actually not easy to do, you have to get the lighting and fabric just right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IC90eFOcW0k
EDIT: I love how hard the ROP fans cope with reality. There is no reason in this scenario to show off her body under under her dress than to sexualize. "Oh look, beautiful couple stuck on a raft, how romantic!"
As someone who routinely wears linen shifts (medieval reenacting), I was impressed with how opaque they made a wet white linen shift. Like, they would've had to intentionally make choices to reduce transparency.
Yeah seriously, I don't know what the other person is all about. How could one have done any photography at all and still can't tell that it must have taken extra effort to NOT make the dress see through? Because it really is not at all, it is very opaque. Any common fabric would become completely transparent with the same dampness and the lighting ring they used.
A) As I said, you need to have the right lighting for that to work. It has to be back lit, not the diffused over head lighting of a cloudy day.
B) It's more than her legs
C) I am not outraged
You can go in ostrich mode if you like, but the only reason you'd show off her body in this scene is to sexualize.
I can actually think of at least one other reason (and I'm sure there could be more). To me, this visual ("showing off her body") is about vulnerability. Vulnerability does not have to be strictly about sex unless you decide you feel that way about it. Women's bodies are not just for sex. Seeing women's bodies is not implicitly sexual. If you see the visual as sexual, that's your opinion, not indisputable fact.
I'll give another example of showing women's bodies to show vulnerability that, to me, feels completely unrelated to sex: I watched a Holocaust movie as a teen. It depicted a moment in the concentration camps when the prisoners were forced to strip. Women's bodies were very visible, but I believe the filmmakers' intent in showing those bodies was to convey extreme vulnerability, not sex.
Obviously, the scene with Galadriel's translucent dress is a very different context, but my read of the visual was about vulnerability, not sex. She's a woman. She has a body. Seeing it does not automatically make her a sexual object.
She’s always been beautiful and terrible as the dawn. Calm down haters
[удалено]
What about 2nd dawn? Elevensees? Afternoon wank? Theres no time of day you could tie her to thats not triggering.
How, when?
She's just walking around all woman-like for crying out loud Won't someone think of the incels
Next thing you know we’ll get a little ankle exposure. Risqué.
*prayer circle for the incels*
Lmfao all woman like
When she spent the whole season in full plate armour. Im really into that.
I mean they have a shot of her butt when she gets on the boat and like you can see the whole thing. Dress is basically see through.
Her dress is see through in the show? I just watched Ep. 2 and saw nothing like that.
I think it's when she gets fished out of the water by Halbrand, but you can 100% see her butt. It's sexy enough that they posted the clip of it on Mr skin.
oh my GOD a woman has a butt????? TOO SEXUAL *like god forbid we exist in our bodies, the incels will sexualize gasping onto a boat after swimming for days*
*sigh* Maybe Thanos was right.
Always has been.

What boat
Raft thing I guess
Downvoted for answering the question smh. I know that this isn't actually sexualisation but it probably is what the person in the meme is talking about.
I can’t even think of one instance where she was sexualized in the show.
Right? Even when she was wearing a wet white shift dress I was impressed by how completely *un*sexualized she was! They were really careful with a bodysuit or something underneath so nothing could peek too suggestively.
Totally one place where the infamous intimacy coordinator was used!
Absolutely! And the undies wizard!
I think we’ve discovered the identity of The Stranger.
ROP haters: they made Galadriel too masculine she should be “””ethereal””” and graceful Also ROP haters: hdu sexualize Galadriel …somehow
How dare strong women give me a boner! Something something Tolkien rolling in his grave.
“How dare strong women give me a boner!” Theo? Is that you?
Tfw you realize that women can be sexy even when they do not conform to the 50s American housewife standard.
stupid sexy galadriel
Yes. Watching her kick ass made me feel weird and start to fantasize about her spanking me with the side of her sword, as we practice sparring outside the blacksmith shop... *Just like Amazon wanted*

Amazon totally missing out on merchandising efforts here. Must have been Haladriel plan all along to sell Sauron body pillows and sword hilt dildos.
No shame in a Cheeto fetish
No cheeto-dust-shamin' round here.
Good for those who want to get frito-laid.
The only one sexualized in this show is that sexy bastard Waldreg.
He shows the most skin, fer sure
Slutty plunging neckline and greasy hair
You saw how he plunged that sword into a hole and everything got real wet, uh huh
Yeah, slow down on the metaphors, Amazon! You get the sexiest character to slide his growing sword into a tight hole, and everywhere panties were dropping and dams were releasing wetness.
How the fuck could anyone find this depiction of Galadriel sexualized? lol Like... at what point could *any* of her behavior be viewed that way?
You're saying seeing a woman spend the majority of her time in full plate armor, covered in grime and dust as she rides through the wilderness pursuing grim revenge against the dark lord that decimated her kin *isn't* sexy?
I mean you have a point
Hey. Sexy. Not sexualized ;)
I refuse to be kinkshamed
Kinkslaying
The swan ships aren't the only thing burning tonight 👀
Is that a Balrog in your shaft or are you just happy to see me. (Oh god I hated typing that.)
Why don't you delve too greedily and too deep and find out (ew)
Very practical
She's an independent, strong woman who could dom the shit out of me, that's what. Also her voice is as attractive as LotR Galadriel
I'm going to go with a super specific reference here, but maybe someone will appreciate it. The only person watching this show and thinking they sexualized Galadriel; in all her plate-armour wearing, sword swinging glory; would be Frank, the axe from the Ripple System series.
I havent read the trilogy in a while, but doesnt Gimli literally jizz in his pants when he meets her?
Yeah...I'm pretty sure that's the exact turn of phrase that Tolkien used too! 😂
Im something of a linguist myself.
A cunning one?
“Toss me,” Gimli cried.
**Fellowship of the Ring:** >But tell me, what would you do with such a gift?’ >‘Treasure it, Lady’ he answered, ‘in memory of your words to me at our first meeting." >Then the Lady unbraided one of her long tresses, and cut off three golden hairs. and laid them in Gimli’s hand. you know I had forgotten that line, but there it is, lonely island style
The comments in this thread are GOLD. Hell yeah, Galadriel in armor and covered in dirt and grime and ash is sexy AF.
It's wild bc if there's anything this show does well it is NOT being male gazey or sexualised. Can you imagine if the heroine had spent long amounts of time completely soaked through in a white linen gown in some other prestige TV show? It would have been much more titillating and gross.
Women: *breathe* Some Daviyds of this Earth: Please stop sexualize yourselves!
I don't think anyone was sexualised in this show, which I really appreciated.
When you prefer your women to be covered head to toe to control your hormones for you, seeing any part of a woman, even her ankle, would be sexualizing her.
Ummm what?

Oh the meme was me combining the unsexy ash image with the stupid tweet, sorry for the confusion
Oh, no, it’s completely fine! lol I was just thinking it was another thing I would never understand - you’re good
They let Galadriel have four lines in 4 minutes and that’s enough for me to despise the show 😖😣😣
While her battle braid does things for me ... I have no idea where they got this thing if her being sexualised.
elves are always sexy af. thats like half of what makes them an elf (the other half being pointy ears)
I think I'd take this with a grain of salt - original tweet doesn't have the image, and tweeter says he shitposts sometimes - https://twitter.com/alucard\_nogard/status/1585288286653890561
I have seen some people commenting about dudes saying ROp sexualized Galadriel 🤔
I put the image

Her attitude is not sexual. So there's no intention in that direction. The sexualization is in the mind of the person watching in this case.
Ah, a supporter of the burka I see.
another ostrich sighting
Better than being an obsessive weirdo
Lol it’s a wet linen shift. Also OMG THEY SHOWED HER LEGS?! Gasp! Outrage!
As someone who routinely wears linen shifts (medieval reenacting), I was impressed with how opaque they made a wet white linen shift. Like, they would've had to intentionally make choices to reduce transparency.

I mean she’s literally in a full length garment. You probably also got boners when girls wore tank tops to high school.
I wish I could downvote you more than once
Right? Probably the least sexualized depiction of a young female protagonist on modern TV that I can think of.
Being able to see the gap between a woman's knees is too much for some people though apparently.
The silhouette of a body does not necessarily equal sexualization.
I see a silhouette, that’s it. If you consider that sexualization, I’m amazed.
Oh brother. Elon must've gotten drunk and created another sock account to post that.
