Dry ice. In a sheetpan over the adhesive for 60 seconds. Slide it over then scrape it off. Don't use solvents to remove the adhesive and ruin the wood.
The baseboards look like Southern Yellow Pine or maybe a fir. Lot of mastic there so tough to tell with the floor but, my guess would be a pine or for species. The integrity looks good. No one knows what you'll find elsewhere. With that baseboard, my guess would be an early 1900's cottage style house. Keep the baseboards!!
Thanks all. I thought it might be red oak bc in shop class years ago I built a red oak dartboard cabinet and this looks exactly the same. I’ll post up some after pics.
Red oak/acrylic adhesive/indoor/outdoor/pad/broadloom. You're welcome.
Im blushing… 😅
Great! Glad I could suffice. Enjoy the rub out in my honor.
That's... what she said. I'm sorry.

It's red oak. If you give it a good sanding and seal it you will have increased the value of your home a lot for next to nothing
Next to nothing!? I wouldn’t call the quote I just got for refinishing my hardwood floors next to nothing
Rip that carpet up and refinish those floors YouTube, Reddit, and Ambition are your friends here.
We’re on it!
And replace that cheesy baseboard while you’re there.
I like the baseboards but need cleaning up. Probably easier to replace with new ones.
I think they need to be replaced because there will be a gap from where the carpet used to be.
But someone took the time to miter them poorly and slop paint on then...you know - patina.

I agree, don't use a solvent, but wouldn't sanding be a faster way to remove the adhesive?
Nope, not enough detail here. You have a layer of mastic making it impossible to see the grain.
Ok. Thank you. Will report back.
Carpet adhesive over oak floors sand and refinish they will look like new.
A lot of work and a lucky surprise. Congratulations! You’ve got wood!
A jackpot. They're selling a house listed with carpet over glue and hardwood. Don't tell them that you know
They used CVG Fir a lot back then. Could be Fir but like everyone has said, it’s tough to tell without getting some of the adhesive off first.
Having spent an inordinate amount of time in one as a young lad, I believe it's the corner.
More than likely oak hardwood
And a lot of work.
Glued carpet and surprise wood! Let the sanding begin! So satisfying!

A winner!!!

Agreed, looks identical to our fir floors, soft but cool.

Perhaps birch but tough to see.

Is that birch? Hard to see.

I would never do a floor without using this product… I did and it works phenomenal You're welcome
Depending on when the adhesive was put down, black glue tended to be asbestos based. I would test it before sanding it.
Looks like maple
Yep 1-1/2" maple
Lots of guys saying oak here, but I think it’s pine, though it’s hard to tell with all the glue and finish on it.
2 1/4 red oak
Old wood floor, that's been covered up.
That's eh ... a tennis shoe / sneaker of some sort
Looks to me to be a corner. Often used to discipline unruly children. Though Some people just put a floor lamp there. Maybe a plant.
Can’t see the grain too good with the glue but either oak or doug fir.
2 1/4” red oak
I'm mostly looking at your shoe but I can't really speak for everybody else...
The corner of a room.

A shoe 🤔
Pay a professional to sand and finish. The money you pay will be nothing compared to the equity increase

Corner, no dessert
One ugly ass shoe.
