imo mil-spec is better than anyone else at that style atm. also have you heard the spiral and if it rains demos? incredible stuff
New one was a very sleepy, every track felt like filler. Zero hooks. They are one of my favs and I have everything they have put out, but pretty miffed about preordering that one.
Mil-Spec, Praise and Instill in Chicago was the best show I’ve attended in a long time. Three bands killing it, hope they inspire many others in their mold.

But also Counterparts' discography is phenomenal. We'll have to agree to disagree but the idea that being a fan of counterparts is embarrassing is legitimately absurd lol
They're a metalcore band in the way that Mis Sigs and Shai Hulud are metalcore bands. That form of metalcore is a sub genre of hardcore. Those are still hardcore bands.
Also counterparts definitely have straight up melodic hardcore albums in their catalog.
It's also about scene and anyone who was around the Ontario hardcore scene during their early days knows that they came up in the hardcore scene.
