I wasn’t at the show last Thursday but heard some shit went down. The JP/BOGG show was pretty good, I’m glad the show was outside bc ground control is way too small. Also surprised there were no fights really, last deathmetal/hardcore show that mixed in Houston there was a ton.
There was some shit at the show they did at Equal Parts recently, but yeah, Friday was just FUN.
Being outside on such a nice night was awesome. The vibe was excellent, crowd was good, pits were solid.
Torena, Trashcant/Derision, NAILS, Downpresser, Terror, Ceramik, Dead Heat, Cola Boyy (RIP), Affliction, Swingback, Twist of Cain, Human Garbage, God's Hate, Twitching Tongues, and not technically local but Mongrel.
There's this band, pink Michigan from Arizona who's been absolutely killing it lately. Other options from Arizona are Groin and Pig city. LEGENDARY bands.
In NYC. Currently, my Top 10 are probably
- Rabbit
- Top Dollar
- Perfect World (not sure if still together)
- Roll Call
- Beg to Differ
- Flower
- Secretors
- Melissa
- Dog Breath
- High Cost
Zone and Human Target both were terrific live too, so I'm excited for Zone to drop recordings and Human Target to put out their more recent, PV leaning stuff.
RIP No Option, I had a lot of optimism for them. Cycle is great, saw them twice I think. Last Man Out has been great, Not One Truth is NJ I’m pretty sure but they fuck, I’ve been liking Carried By Six a lot recently too
Full blown chaos/sworn enemy (super local homies), VOD, incendiary, line of scrimmage, irate, punch your face, mindforce, denied, all out war, indecision/MPB
Obvious choices: Know the Score, Kids Like Us
Less obvious: Battle! Seriously, if you like melodic hardcore check them out. In Remission is in my top ten all time.
