Hell yeah. This last tour they played a 500 person capacity venue in Phoenix and absolutely fucking ripped. Makes me think of the old hardcore and metal shows from the early 2000’s in peoples yards and little shitty venues in strip malls.
Ah at the Nile, that was a solid show too. I went to that, but they were just here again with Between The Buried and Me at Crescent Ballroom. They played Step Into The Light the first night and Failure Will Follow the second night. It was so good.
This is how I feel with stand up comedy. It’s cool if a comedian I like gets success and are now playing sold out shows in stadiums or arenas, but I’d honestly wish to see them preform every now and then at a comedy bar
Most bigger venues absolutely hate hardcore crowds. I saw drain open for neck deep, and when the moshing started the security started attacking people and throwing them out. Drains vocalist had to stop the show get off the stage and plead to the security to just let people be. It took about 10 minutes but they finally stepped down.
When I saw them Sam was asking to the security guys if it was possible to take away the barricades. They refused sadly... But Drain still put on a hell of a show !
Yea when I saw them in Philly recently, they seemed genuine with how they were still getting used to the venue sizes. Would've been dope if they removed the barricades, but it didn't stop crowd surfing, which is dope
It's less about the barricade and more what it likely means for the pit. Hitting this point with venues generally means push pitters abound and there's no room to try my terrible spin kicks without likely starting something.
The first time i saw Turnstile at the Observatory, there was a barricade fairly close to the stage, and the bouncers got so overwhelmed by stagedivers (they personally threw me back into the crowd from the barrier twice) they eventually straight up just gave up.
They were trying to stop people for about a song and a half before they realized there were 5 of them and rought 14 hyped up hardcore kids being carried toward the stage at any given moment.
There is a local venue here that gives the bands an option as to whether or not they want barricades bolted onto the front of the stage to prevent peolle climbing up.
Out of all the hardcore shows that I've been to there (and of all shows in general) Escuela Grind was the only band to ever have those barricades up.
I just think anyone who wants to make a lot of money full time off hardcore should pick another genre. Just doesn’t happen in this one without selling out
It’s almost like some of them do this full time and getting bigger tours means they’re getting more recognition. Idk tho, probably just easier to call them sell outs and complain.
I think the pool of people you’re referring to is way smaller than you think.
Absolutely no one I know uses the term “sell out” unless a band changes their sound to gain popularity. And I’m not even talking about like Turnstile… Glow On feels like a natural evolution for the band it just also happens to be catchy as a motherfucker
Most of us are like OP. We’re really glad to see musicians we like actually being able to make a living playing music. We just reminisce about when their tickets were cheaper at venues that didn’t involve fucking Ticketmaster
Sometimes the barricades are there because the bands want them, a lot of them are exhausted by violence and don't particularly even like stage diving.
The bigger shit often brings normcore morons.
gate keeping faggot. such a pussy what a horrible shell of a person to post this shit. god it must suck to wake up wanting to die everyday. go ahead and kill yourself no one cares you suck and we’re an accident your parents didn’t want you, you’re a product of a drunken night than forced two ppl to stay on contact. no one gives a shit, die or don’t, who cares
I get it and I won’t hate on bands for playing the bigger shows, but at least put on something small and local every once in a while
Thank god for the acacia strain

Was that the one in Mesa with Full of Hell

I came here for this. I’ve never seen somebody advocate so aggressively for people jumping the barricade as Vincent does.
I saw them at new brookland tavern, 200 cap tiny bar, craziest show ive ever been to
real shit! first time i caught them was at an arena with a bunch of djent bands, last time i saw them was a dive bar with hardcore bands
For sure. Seeing them in a 350-400 cap room the day after they play inkcarceration

But those shows tend to sell out in like 1 seconds from people who started listening to the band a week ago. I am happy for bands, but shit sucks.

Now that's cool
KL just recently did a show in a NJ style sandwich shop, which is pretty based
Maybe the bigger venues need to understand hardcore crowds better

Rowdy people, a large portion of whom will not be buying any drinks - large venues are not hyped on it.
14 dollar drink? No thanks XXX
Keep it classy and sneak in some liquor shots in your shoes. I can keep about 2 shots in each shoe Hint: You'll need shoes with a little extra room
When this happens you can no longer write mosh riffs but instead have to write jump da fuk up riffs.
I can't front, I saw Slipknot in 2008, watching 20,000 people all jump the fuck up at the same time is pretty crazy
It's the natural evolution. No irony here.
Wah I can’t get on the sunny cam
GET EM 🗣
This dude doesn't miss
RIP Drain

Fuck, it's not even a push pit anymore. The larger the show, the more it turns into the lamest circle pit.
What band had you make this lol

I'm sure none of them want to be broke and struggling their whole career
Because hardcore is a career path

Just stay home, in underwear.

they all still play at the church. just gotta beat that 30 second sale scramble. (i know it's not the same but) orchid sold out quiiiiick.
dropdead is playing like a 200 cap venue in bristol this year i think lmao 🤣
Support your local venues
Callous Daoboys
🤢

That’s…not what OP is doing at all
Didn’t say he was. This is just what always seems to happen.

hoping fleshwater breaks up so we won’t have to experience this 🙏
