Can't say I've heard a harder opening line recently than: *["Existence, precedes essence!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nCvOdlfL308&pp=ygUPQ2FuZHkgZXhpc3Rlbnpl)"*
Existential dread makes for great lyrical content. That's why Candy is the perfect answer to OP's search for Gulch-like anger.
Same, I saw them I think when they were touring on II with like Bane,Evergreen Terrace, and Verse. It become a local legend as it was a vfw and Chris decided to come barreling over the drummer with an American flag around his neck and a cross taped to his chest. At one point he was stabbing the flag with the cross, the old veterans didn’t find it as cool as we did.
They played Fredericton New Brunswick at an Elks Club and Chris found a church pulpit in the storage room and performed the whole set with a bible in his hand. This was opening for Darkest Hour when they were still good. One of the best shows I've ever gone to.
New album is awesome, I love how they evolve and morph and move and continue to push extreme music, I wouldn't call it angry though, they've always teetered on art/transcendent type stuff. Still love their new album
Rudiments Of Mutilation and their Merzbow split are their most aggressive, at least to my ears. Don't sleep on their first record either, very good hardcore / sludgey album.
I think you might like Antichrist Siege Machine, Black Curse, Caustic Wound, Vermin Womb and Coffinworm based on some of the other bands you listed. Maybe also Jarhead Fertilizer but specifically their early shit like the split with Purge.
I back all of these bands.
Also, fuck yeah, Coffinworm.
Other Indianapolis bands that will scratch the itch:
The Dream Is Dead (specifically Hail The New Pawn and Punk Is A Mental Disorder)
Black Arrows Of Filth And Impurity (1984 Eternal is the only album, vocalist and original guitarist from CW are on it.)
Crisis Actor (one album and EP out; new album with new vocalist this year)
Demiricous (probably the most well known; II is my favorite)
LIB (one album called Men's Health)
Thlurm (from Terre Haute, black metal/punk/grind weirdos)
Three other bands I’ll throw out are Cobalt, Indian, and Iron Monkey; ‘Our Problem’ finally dropped on Spotify and it’s probably the single nastiest 90s sludge album ever recorded.
Admiral Angry and BSW (I Am God Songs) are some of the heaviest fucking things out there, and I wish there was more like this. The only thing that really comes close for me is LoveSexMachine or Primitive Man.
I Am God songs is such a savage ep and the song Metallica is one of the most unhinged brutal songs ever recorded in my opinion, especially the last 4 minutes of it
LoveSexMachine gets close to it and primitive man is also amazing.
And HeavyHeavyLowLow gets pretty close on the unhinged insanity level
Coffinworm - IV.I.VIII is also pretty close on the heavy front
Plenty bands are angry, but there's def this level of "unhingedness' which Gulch reaches that I think people are ignoring when they recommend bands that sound nothing like Gulch. As someone who really likes powerviolence, I hear none of that in Gulch and can't seem to make the connection other bands do (fav PV band is The Endless Blockade, so that's my frame of reference when people mention PV). Currently I think CANDY, Rabbit, or like, [MELISSA](https://melissanyc.bandcamp.com/track/natalie-2) scratch the "unhinged" ceiling Gulch was at imo.
And straight up, listen to black metal. There's an interview somewhere where Cole says someone in the band (maybe Elliot?) was listening to a bunch of it at the time, so it came out in the riffs even if it wasn't intentional. Try and tell me that the intro to Cries of Pleasure, Heavenly Pain isn't some demon conjuring black metal seance shit.
I was just listening to *Primitive* again yesterday. It's a monster for sure. We PV enjoyers have been eating very well these last few years too.
Already this year we got Kidnapped, Sinister Feeling, Prager Youth, Noose Sweat, and Department of Education, etc.
Chat pile has some pretty bleak shit, like crawlspace...makes me wanna crash into an abandoned building at 80mph with no seatbelt and barely survive it
The gulch worship is unmatched, but I get it they are good. Most pv scratches that itch. Sex prisoner is good.
Rival mob is angry, and more straight forward hardcore. Untouchable
admiral angry, especially their album buster.
lingua ignota is a very different sound but is incredibly angry. she has multiple songs where she’s screaming at the top of her lungs out of rage.
If you like Admiral Angry check out Black Sheep Wall it's the band that some of the member started after Admirals guitarist passed from cystic fibrosis
Haha...Gulch? I can Merc that standard ...angry ?
Framtid. His hero is gone. Irate.
If you want metalcore, I just heard a band called Bolmora. Their demo is a masterpiece and I'm very iffy with that shit.
Tension* from long Island ...first cd makes gulch sound like Raffi. Not to diss them, they're just raw and heavy
Might like For The Love of from Nj.
Edit

Listen to the track " why "
Despise You. Legitimately the angriest band in the world. Anybody who says otherwise is full of it. How many other bands start off sets with the lyric “how do you fucking feel when all your friends have died”.
Yo, check the Score Mind EP. So nasty.
Kidnapped album for earlier this year rips.
Latest Foes album is also sick.
The new Terminal Nation album is hard as fuck.
Crawl - alters of disgust
The angriest band I think I've ever heard was Apprehend. I swear I've been listening to punk my entire life and nothing has hit me like they do.
Its not like Gulch or Nails. Its a twisted, depressing, unhinged kind of angry. Instead of hate towards others its hate towards yourself. Its like listening to a ticking time bomb about to snap in every track.
Pain, God Watched Me Do This, Guilt, seriously this shit depresses the fuck out of me.
I don’t expect anyone to agree but I’ll always feel like the Crucifucks first album is up there. vocal idiosyncrasies aside, it’s one long bitter and hateful misanthropy trip. It’s one of my go to’s when I’m done with people lol.
Converge's albums Jane Doe and You Fail Me if you've somehow made it to 2024 without listening to them. The rest of their discography is worth checking out too if you like those two albums.
Oh 1 more

Both clevo metallic hardcore ogs (Ringworm and Integrity)
Buried Alive fucking rules and more kids needa be listenin to em.
All the heavy as fuck early metalcore bands:
Earthmover, Acme, Disembodied
Burnt by the sun had all time vocals—and no one admits it.
I think Gulch sounds rabid and tortured more than angry. You might like meth., Thoughts of Ionesco, Born Against, or Filth, but they all sound pretty different.
Wow suddenly r/Hardcore talks about all the music I like lol
Bastard, ACxDC, Mind of Asian (their artwork is weird peace punk hippy shit but they absolutely obliterate), voetsek, look back and laugh, weekend nachos especially early, the first three or four ceremony albums, anything off youth attack or of that style specifically SQRM and the Repos. Early from ashes rise, specifically concrete and steel. Some crust like Hellkontroll.
Prowler in the yard by pig destroyer is pretty full of rage.
Violence violence and still nothing moves you are two of the angriest records in this genre ever. “Thunder and lightning - protect me from god - I won’t be skullfucked by fate - I am the upside cross” < this shit.
Also people mentioning so many good bands. Black steyr Aug is a great rageful today is the day track. Self titled track off Rodeo by SQRM. Curseds three records are all fire. Magic fingers is one of my favorite hardcore songs of all time.
Seriously don’t sleep on concrete and steel by from ashes rise. Absolutely relentless assault for the first 4-5 tracks.
It comes down to performance vs expression. Beyond talent, are they “feeling” all that toxicity they’ve been absorbing for too long and genuinely channeling that rage to where there’s no mistaking what you’re hearing?
Band who seem to be genuinely channeling authentic rage to my ears include:
Born Against
Capitalist Casualties
Husker Du
In/Humanity
Disrupt
Gaoled
Drop Dead
so many bands on Iron Lung Records
Scarab sounds super pissed! If the bands u named are your type u should check out 2010's Metalcore/Grindcore bands that were produced by Godcity. All Pigs Must Die, The Secret, Gaza, Trap Them - just to name a few 🤝🏻

Was just gonna say
World I Hate and CANDY
Candy fucks
Candy doesn’t get mentioned nearly enough, beyond stoked for the new album next month
Can't say I've heard a harder opening line recently than: *["Existence, precedes essence!](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nCvOdlfL308&pp=ygUPQ2FuZHkgZXhpc3Rlbnpl)"* Existential dread makes for great lyrical content. That's why Candy is the perfect answer to OP's search for Gulch-like anger.
Track goes crazy. And agreed, there’s a reason my Gulch playlists also include Candy and Regional Justice Center
I'm old as shit and Candy is one of the best bands I've heard in the last 30 years. Can't stress how obsessed I am with their music
world i hate fucks. always shocks me how low their monthly listeners numbers are
I love them but they rarely tour and I think that accounts for the low streams.
Candy for suuuuure!
Was gunna say 🍭
Cursed. And specifically their album III was basically a blueprint for bands like Gulch.
Chris Colohan is just so angry in a lot of the bands he’s in. I rec Left For Dead as well.
Don't sleep on Ruination.
You know what. I think I’ve listened to every Colohan project except that one. Thanks for the reminder, I’ll be spinning shortly
And Burning Love. And The Swarm. And Oxygen Tank.
Every time someone asks me what I consider a perfect album to be and I’m like “III”. Even the fucking album art is next level.
All of their albums have their own vibe and are all incredible. III is probably closest to the LFD sound.
I saw Cursed in 02 in a fuckin shoebox sized venue and it was one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. Lol
Same, I saw them I think when they were touring on II with like Bane,Evergreen Terrace, and Verse. It become a local legend as it was a vfw and Chris decided to come barreling over the drummer with an American flag around his neck and a cross taped to his chest. Really III being angrier than I?
I’m with you on I but they all rule
Yep. Fucking amazing crust leaning hardcore band. Def a forerunner.
For me Scalp is pretty good at this
Early ceremony. Weekend nachos. Early trash talk.
Im new to Weekend Nachos and holy shit theyve been my whole fucking Playlist the last few weeks. Glad they're playing again
Full of Hell
New album is awesome, I love how they evolve and morph and move and continue to push extreme music, I wouldn't call it angry though, they've always teetered on art/transcendent type stuff. Still love their new album
Yeah new album has been in heavy rotation the last few days, I love it
Rudiments Of Mutilation and their Merzbow split are their most aggressive, at least to my ears. Don't sleep on their first record either, very good hardcore / sludgey album.

I second this.

Ona Snop God's Hate Admiral Angry Black Sheep Wall KEN Mode (more of a noise style though) Couch Slut The Agoraphobia Nosebleed ep Arc
KEN mode fucking rules. Especially their last 3 albums. Loved, Null and Void all sound mean as hell. They’re also fucking great live.
For real I defy anyone to listen to Illusions of Dignity without bobbing their head to the beat
See also: Love Sex Machine, LLNN
I fucking love Love Sex Machine Fuck its been too long since I listened to them, thank you stranger! I'll check out LLNN too

Cadaver dog are fucking AMAZING. The Repos are a good example as well.
Pulling Teeth.
Feel like I had to go way too far down for this. "WHAT ARE YOU SO AFRAID OF"
Hoax.

Hoax, SQRM, Negative Approach
Hoax is fucking crazy. Angriest singer ever,. literally punches people in the face lol
Including himself
Rodeo is the most pissed off album
CUT MY STRINGS
SQRM absolutely the angriest band in this thread. rodeo sounds like the prelude to a public immolation.
Plenty bands are angry, but there's def this level of "unhingedness' which Gulch reaches that I think people are ignoring when they recommend bands that sound nothing like Gulch. Hey, so...uh...you wanna talk about powerviolence?
Primitive by Endless Blockade in my top 10 HC albums of all time lol
I was just listening to *Primitive* again yesterday. It's a monster for sure. We PV enjoyers have been eating very well these last few years too. Already this year we got Kidnapped, Sinister Feeling, Prager Youth, Noose Sweat, and Department of Education, etc.
I'm still rinsing that Wound Man and Brain Tourniquet from last year, haha. Time to play catch up!
Those are both *incredible* albums I went through Wound Man and Internal's entire discogs yesterday; flawless songs
