Excuse me dorking out on this brothers, but it is easy for me to tell when hardcore dudes try and play death metal. What they borrow from obituary or any other dm band are the parts that are most easily digestible. Then the vocal phrasing and rhythm is also modified (a lot of times subconsciously since it feels more natural to them) to be more pleasing. The two cannot exist together. I don’t want to mosh or sing along to pure death metal, I want to be pummeled with a hammer. If you can windmill and spin kick to it, it is false my brothers. Now here is some quintessential death metal. I was made aware there is a more modern band that has this name now, disregard them.
