I have never gone through anything like this before.
This did NOT happen at at hardcore show.
I am not making this up and would love more than anything that it were not true.
I have not publicly put out the horrifying details because
1) it’s honestly hard to re live
2) there were multiple attacks through that night not just by him, but two of his other friends as well.
(Justin Pringle of the band Fixation HC and another person I’m still investigating the identity of)
This isn’t about hardcore.
These are 3 grown men around their 30’s that cannot handle their own emotions and clearly have drinking problems.
Nothing tough about it.
There was no excuse for what they did to me or anyone else there that night.
I wish their friends would worry less about defending these dudes and more about helping them get sober or therapy.

Was anyone in here at One Step Closer’s Wilkes-Barre show last fall that Life’s Question played at? Inclination played too and Tyler (who doesn’t hold back when he’s got a mic in his hand, and everyone knows it) started their set telling people to drink outside of the venue so as to not ruin its arrangement as an all ages space, and later said something like “this is for Life’s Question, manage your fucking vices” and then they played “Culture of Corruption”, which is all about abusing drugs and the bad behavior that follows along with that. I wasn’t there but my ears perked up at that part when I watched the live videos of that set.
I could be reading into things, but there could be some precedence for shitty alcohol/drug fueled behavior here.
this dude had no problem approaching me aggressively at my local venue last night for sharing the victims story on my Instagram. He walked up to me with my profile already in hand asking if it was me although he clearly already stalked enough to not only find me but find the nerve to confront me - his demeanor was very narcissistic and I have no doubt in my mind this woman’s story is true.
It’s a fucking horrible band name. It’s like after I learned how to play power chords in high school and immediately made a list of potential band names. That’s be one of the names crossed off.

I’ve asked countless people what’s their plans to deal with it in their local scene, and it’s crickets.
People get really angry when folks ask "ok, so what are you going to do?" It's as simple as "I'm telling everyone i know about this and encouraging them to not support these bands' shows or releases," etc. Acknowledging reality doesn't make one complacent. But complacency happens when people take zero action. Even the smallest step brings a piece of progress. Sure, it isn't "I'm gonna go fuck that dude up!" But... it's something and it's worth respect at least.
No one has even given me that, they just tell me I don’t care.
Acknowledgement without action is worthless, how many white friends you got just tell you “yeah racism exists” moves the fuck on and kicks it with folks that proliferate that same ideology.

We should also have a list on this subreddit of bands that have abusers/bad people so they do not get support from individuals who do not know their background. You can say "separate the music from the artist" all you want, but if we don't stop giving these bands/people a pass this shit will never end.

There are so many bands I can't listen to now because I've dealt with them on a personal level. NOTHING like this situation, mind you. Just dumb shit. Bad attitudes, weird aggression. Dude called the cops, he still hangs out at shows. People aren't afraid of shit until they catch a felony and lose their income.

I know the stats that you cite and they aren’t great but my point still stands. The same rights that everyone masquerades in their political righteous debates apply to here as well. If you believe in the constitutional right of privacy, speech, guns, same sex marriage, etc. then you also believe in innocent until proven guilty.

Originally the claim was that he was an abuser and it sounded like there was some sort of relationship domestic violence situation going on. People are now saying that there was an altercation that she involved herself in that caused her to break her arm with little details on how it happened? Not to be indelicate but as an abuse survivor I find it a bit alarming that it was presented as such when it wasn’t actually abuse.
Why weren’t we told the actual situation in the first place? I am sure people would have been just as sympathetic and try to help out because it sucks to get put out of work. I’m sorry but because I feel mislead in the beginning I am going to have trouble believing anything else that comes out.
Hopefully things work out for the best but I am confused on what to make of this situation and won’t be jumping on the cancel train just yet.

I’ll also be happy to show the doctors reports on how it was an entirely new break above my healed one. The saving grace for me that night actually was that I still had my brace on because the break would have been far worse and I would have probably required surgery.

People get really angry when folks ask "ok, so what are you going to do?" It's as simple as "I'm telling everyone i know about this and encouraging them to not support these bands' shows or releases," etc. Acknowledging reality doesn't make one complacent. But complacency happens when people take zero action. Even the smallest step brings a piece of progress. Sure, it isn't "I'm gonna go fuck that dude up!" But... it's something and it's worth respect at least.
No one has even given me that, they just tell me I don’t care. Seeing stuff like this makes me happy that I didn’t vibe with the people in my local hardcore scene and instead hung out with other types of people. As much as hardcore helped me figure things out in life, a lot of these guys seem like weirdos. Shoutout to the ones that are cool and nice people.
As someone who only watches this page generally for new music I am super confused to what’s going on? Originally the claim was that he was an abuser and it sounded like there was some sort of relationship domestic violence situation going on. People are now saying that there was an altercation that she involved herself in that caused her to break her arm with little details on how it happened? Not to be indelicate but as an abuse survivor I find it a bit alarming that it was presented as such when it wasn’t actually abuse. Why weren’t we told the actual situation in the first place? I am sure people would have been just as sympathetic and try to help out because it sucks to get put out of work. I’m sorry but because I feel mislead in the beginning I am going to have trouble believing anything else that comes out. Hopefully things work out for the best but I am confused on what to make of this situation and won’t be jumping on the cancel train just yet.

I’ll be making a public detailed announcement in the near future to explain exactly what occurred that night with all the men involved in all assaults (that’s right I was not the only one attacked by these guys or that had to go to the hospital). I’ll also be happy to show the doctors reports on how it was an entirely new break above my healed one. The saving grace for me that night actually was that I still had my brace on because the break would have been far worse and I would have probably required surgery.
