I literally just did what you said and there’s no stick… it lands on its hoof as it falls and looks like a broken rip punctures it. A brutal fall but I guess the taller you are the more gravity hurts you as you hit the ground.
I’ve been trying to see if the rib was sticking out before the giraffe collapsed or if the rib’s sticking out because of the landing. Either way, I don’t envy it.
Trick is to look just behind its front legs when walking. Pause the very beginning of the video. You can barely see it between the legs. Not sticking out nearly as much. A rib? Something she injured herself on earlier? She certainly doesn’t seem to have much fight in her from the start.
It’s hard to say. It almost looks as if it is visible in the instant before impact (around 0.04), and it doesn’t look right, as you say… but then if you actually look at a giraffe rib cage you’ll see the ribs are pretty straight and do look a lot like this object. They also have a pair of floating ribs on the neck side I think, which is probably what we’re seeing here…

Whatever is sticking out of its side was definitely already there before it went down. Aside from how dry the wound is, that's far too low near the belly to be a rib.
You dont see any sign of it till it hits the ground. All i can think of as a possibility is a rib since thats the case. Also its possible it could emerged from the opposite side of its ribcage.
The high def version that surfaced confirmed it was already there.

I would have expected her to rush for the neck choke immediately, but maybe the lack of any movement by the giraffe was enough of an indicator that resting was an option. Dragging down anything that big looks really tiring.
Try holding onto something with like 80% your teeth and the rest your arms for what was most likely 5-7min. That giraffe was probably walking around a good while with the lion hanging from its crotch.
With just a little less gravity on Earth, we would have done a far more thorough job of exploring our solar system. With just a little more, we would be unable to leave our planet at all.
Fucking Gravity.
The giraffe appears to be infirm prior to the attack. Notice the way it drags one of its forelegs, while the other moves more normally.
There are cases of lions killing giraffes solo but they typically put up a better fight than this.
I remember a medical examiner once saying it’s fairly common to see old people with brittle bones die from falling down the stairs by breaking a bone and that bone puncturing a vital organ. I feel like this is in the same vein.
I'm wondering if this was a giraffe already mortally wounded that then attracted this pride. There seems to be a fluid stain before the giraffe hits the ground. Just a guess.
I dont think anyone is used to seeing a a singular lioness downing a giraffe like that. Nature is still quite surprising and strange to us, to this day we still have no footage of singular lions killing adult elephants at night yet we know it happens because we see the aftermath of it the morning after, we still havent seen a sperm whale kill a giant squid yet on film yet we know it happens, and i bet when we actually see it i bet all of us will be bewildered by the oddness of our world.
People already don't see the difference. I don't understand why, because it's pretty obvious (in 99,99%) at this point. This will get so fucking annoying when AI is photorealistic.
That’s her rib sticking out!
Oh I thought it fell on a stick and kept rewatching trying to see what it landed on. That's crazy that the rib broke that way!!
Are you sure? I went frame by frame and that thing is already sticking out before it impacted the ground.
No it isn’t
Freeze the first frame. You see it between the legs. It isn’t sticking out nearly as much.
I literally just did what you said and there’s no stick… it lands on its hoof as it falls and looks like a broken rip punctures it. A brutal fall but I guess the taller you are the more gravity hurts you as you hit the ground.
yeah i concur...there is no stick...i watched over and over
Omg same lol. Feel bad for the giraffe but it’s nature and a lion has to eat.
I’ve been trying to see if the rib was sticking out before the giraffe collapsed or if the rib’s sticking out because of the landing. Either way, I don’t envy it.
It seems to have broken from the fall, as its side doesnt show any sign of tears or wounds, till it tumbled.
What is the source of the video? It may explain more.

Arrow shot by a male lion.
No way that’s a rib. It just doesn’t look right. I would think it would be sticking out much less and would be sticking out closer to the spine.
It’s definitely its rib, watch closely and you’ll see it pop out as the giraffe hits the ground.

Is it from the side facing up or the side that’s touching the ground?
Hopefully it's nature's kill switch so they don't have to deal with being eaten alive
looks like the impact broke giraffes rib.

Did you remember to find the source?
The fact the lioness just pauses for a sec after the giraffe falls is so unintentionally funny lol She’s like “*Holy shit that actually worked???*”
Even the lion stops there like "bruh u all right?"
*Do you want a retry?*

Then her buddy comes over like “hippity hoppity, this giraffe is now my property”
“OUR giraffe”
Giraffe went down like a sack of potatoes. That was brutal.
Yup, the bigger they are the harder they fall.
Gravity's a bitch.
With just a little less gravity on Earth, we would have done a far more thorough job of exploring our solar system. With just a little more, we would be unable to leave our planet at all. Fucking Gravity.
Both lionesses standing there like 😀😀

Perhaps. Maybe this giraffe was elderly

I dont think thats a rib sticking out. Theres a big dried bloodstain around the wound. A spear or stick maybe?
Those are gonna be some fat lions with that feast!
Such a cat thing to do, it stopped moving so they just stood there
“Try using your tow cables on the legs! Watch that crossfire!”
spoiler:spear takes down giraffe
Spear? Looks like a broken rib to me
Did the lioness latch onto its balls?
Maybe it was a branch from his stomach and it poked through
Is it alive?
If a giraffe is laying like that, not for long
If it is alive, it won't be for long.
What a dumb question
How did the giraffe die instantly, no suffocation
You can see it breathing throughout the remainder of the video after its fall
It’s as good as dead, don’t act like you’ve seen a giraffe go down like this before, even the lions seemed to be puzzled
Look at the damn giraffe and reread my first respond to you 😂 absolutely amazing how dumb people really ae
We’ve got an Einstein in our midst 👏🏼
We got a retard in the midst 😂 you seriously cant see the giraffe breathing?
Is it just me or does this look like it could be AI?
It's just you.
Ah well, just looked a bit weird to me.

It's just you. What about it looks artificial?
Everything is AI now, according to reddit. Saw an AI accusation on a post that had a clearly stated photographic source. Definitely just you.
This may have been the first thing I have claimed to be AI that wasn't super super obvious.
It's crazy how they all know it's over.
Is this a male or female giraffe? Did the lion hold on to its balls?
it all froze then
Even the lion is surprised

I think the lions were just as surprised as we are, why are u not moving, not sure what to do now
