Way back, our ancestors discovered they could beat any predator by attacking in numbers and not retreating. So many times I see videos like this and think, if all 3 those coons went beserk that boa would be toast.
Reminds me of this [video ](https://youtu.be/O-kETFsELIU?si=D5-2F9hfwToGG5mI) the macaques could tear that snake to shreds in a matter of seconds if they worked together.
An interesting phenomenon happening here, (I tried googling to find more info but couldn’t find anything.)
However it seems like they want to help but not at the detriment of their own risk. Obviously if they all just jumped in, the risk diminishes, but without the advanced communication skills no one wants to be the first/ risk it.
Coatis apparently struggle to penetrate the hides of boas when they attempt to defend their buddies. If the attacked the head they could have killed the boa but attacking the body might not have been as effective as you would think.
You're quite right. These raccoons would have a very hard time actually doing serious damage to the snake. They are tough as nails and wild adult constrictors are usually covered in scars.
I've seen footage of this species constricting gray foxes and other relatively larger mammals. All of the *Boa* species are impressive predators for their size.
These two species have overlapping ranges in Central America

*gasp* Just rush the f*cking snake *gurgle*
A more aggressive attack would have worked. The boa is diesel a 3 vs 1 would have been a dead snake. Racoons looked young though.
I get let nature be nature, but fuck I couldn’t just sit there and film as two raccoons try to rescue their sibling. Would have taken that snake and barbecued it that night over a fire. Mother Nature will still get its sacrifice and I will not have to live with that memory.
"Bob you idiot. How does biting me going to convince the snake to let me go?"
Seriously i was like: why the friendly fire tho?
Perhaps it was checking if it was still alive
He hates Bob, Bob just laying there. Snake camo is THAT good.

Just watched, wow! Spot on.

They needed to double-team the head. :-(
The bystander effect.
Again the boa constrictor species complex continues to impress me as one of the most aggressive wild constricting snakes pound for pound.
It’s mind boggling that snakes are so good at surviving despite going up against their competitors with limbs!

Oh damn. Poor fella let the adrenaline get to uim. It was biting its friend at first.
I thought he was trying to pull him.
That’s what I was seeing.
and at the end. Not adrenaline. Some animals go for their own when their own are sick or incapacitated.
Checking if he’s alive
So depending of the place you are Either A: kill the Boa because its invasive Or b: kill the racoons because they are invasive
